My uncle, who works in Oman, is helping me arrange an engineer visa through his sponsor. I have 1.5 years of experience as a mechanical engineer in Pakistan, but I'm worried about whether there is a policy in Oman that restricts engineers with less than 5 years of experience from working there. The Oman Society of Engineers has put my registration on hold, questioning the authenticity of my experience. This situation is causing me a lot of stress. Can you advise me on what I should do?
The engineer visa was long ago limited to Omani nationals, and even if it was granted, it would need further document authentication and verification from HEC and maybe the Omani Embassy.You need to prove your abilities and why they should hire you instead of Omanis

The period of shutdown project ranges between 1-2 months. I was confused, can i find new job because it will be difficult to visit places for new job and do work at the same time? And if i find job, can i extend my visa ? I don't have engineering experience, so it will be hard to find that job. What type of jobs can i get in office? I have good english communication skills and strong hold on ms word, excel. Thanks
Wsalam! It partly depends upon the type visa you are coming on. If you are here on Azad visa for a specific project, then technically, you can't switch after one project is done until your sponsor helps you.

We are a family of 5 Alhamdulillah with 2 school going kids and one 1.5year old. Please tell me how much shall be the monthly grocery expense excluding 1 day dining out per week? Alhamdulillah we maintain decent healthy family diet. Company is providing Alhamdulillah family accomodation and medical. How much I can save as I have to bear schooling and grocery expense.
Wsalam, anything above 1000 OMR is a good salary. Considering you have 5 kids (MashaAllah), it can get a little tight, but sine your accommodation and medical is by the company, which are 2 major expenses, this is a pretty good offer.
Expenses on food largely vary upon the lifestyle. Local Arabic/Pakistani/Turkish/Indian cuisine is not expensive, but restaurants and fast can spike up bills. Homecooked meals are always a little cheaper, and smart planning of groceries can help.

It is a very good salary, comfortable for a family of 5. Ibri, on the other hand, is a very small city that is not that developed. But people do live a slow, comfortable life there.
Hey, After technical interview they asked expectation and we asked 2k as per my experience of 8 years and they said HR will get back to you. Is asking 2k omr per month was too much for 8 year experience as Software Engineer. Please do reply on this . Actually I asked as per my Indian salary 2k is more than double of my salary. Hello, as compared to other Gcc countries, Oman is a little slow paced. The jobs are numbered. It can be hard to find a good one. That being said, jobs are available.
Hi! For longer than 14 days, stay you need to apply for visa online if you are an Indian citizen. With a valid schengen visa, you probably can get a visa on arrival according to some sources. Double check it before you come. Rule keeps changing.

Yes, because rules and fees update a lot. It's best if you check online. Rop or any other official website. Last I knew, a visit visa was around 40-45 OMR for 3 months.
And we don't call it Iqama. We call it Batakha, and the charges are around 5-10 OMR, but it's issued to residents only. And yes, you have to renew it after a few years.

Freelance visas are pretty common. If you have a plan, job in sight, or enough money to support yourself, and is strongly willing to come to Oman, then it is an option.
