Make sure you drag the CurvedLevels effect above the HDR Analysis effect if you want the graph to respond to any changes you make in CurvedLevels. Works fine for me in Lies of P demo.
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Yes, click the effect in the effects list and drag it above the other. You can use the 'Active to top' button to instantly move all enabled/checked effects to the top of the list, and reorder them there. The processing chain goes top to bottom. So, really, you should always drag the HDR Analysis effect to the bottom of the effects stack.
Off topic: But I have noticed that using Re-Shade on Diablo IV and recording the game in 4K HDR with the Nvidia G-Force recorder doesn't work. It just records a washed out SDR video when I install Re-Shade. Any way around this? Record using OBS and use HDR recording software in their maybe?
Thank you for the clear step by step instructions. I also love how intensely and passionately you talk about this stuff. It's a dramatic improvement. Like you said, it's not just about the deep true blacks, but the richness it adds to the colours. Crazy that we need ReShade to achieve this. Such wasted potential.
Thankyou for this video. The stats HUD is suuuper useful. I'll be using that for all HDR games. I ended up using slightly different settings in the end but I wouldn't have known how to without this vid. Much appreciated.
Late to the party with this but finally getting this downloaded and installed. Thank you for the tutorial here, Ariel. Really appreciate it. Just upgraded my CPU and GPU (went from a Ryzen 3900XT and 2070 Super to a 5800X3D and 4070), so it might be time to start making more PC gaming content on my channel. Thanks again. Hope yourself, Markus and I can do a livestream together soon!
Thank you for your work man. I look forward to playing the Cyberpunk expansion with this. I specifically remember driving a van in first person through the desert at night. The van had a black interior with red lights on the dash and I remember anything that wasn’t red looked terrible. I know exactly what you mean by that ugly washed out looking image and can clearly see you fixed it with those before and afters. Its a shame the devs still have not fixed this.
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Yes I see that now. I can't try the tool right now but am planning to try making it work with AUTO HDR and SPECIAL K HDR as well. Is it now working for you with Lies of P with the setting in the pinned comment?
This tool is amazing. Cyberpunk 2077 looks so much better with this. I also tried it in FS2020 because the game clips up to 10000 nits according to lilium tool. I decrease the max peak to 1000 and now it doesn't get too bright anymore and looks a lot better.
Oh my god man it worked!!! Red Dead Redemption 2. Changed the black point, and the white point and increased the saturation and it looks absolutely incredible, I can't believe how powerful the software is this is truly incredible HDR now and it was so bad before, probably the worst looking HDR I have ever seen it is so striking now thank you!!
Thank you for this Tutorial, its great. But one thing - 18:14. I noticed your CurvedLevels asset is not being at the very top, that's why it won't affect the game in correct way. Reshade assets and how they work with eachother asset combined, rely on the priority. You need to have CurvedLevels at the very top as 1th and then rest of UI on 2nd. I also had this same encounter, and forgot that I didn't put CurvedLevels are the top. then it worked normally
thanks so much, I also have a LG C1, game is absolutely gorgeous now. I just don't understand how such a game can come with such broken HDR settings and the devs thinking it's fine.
The latest version (6.0) of the ReShade installer lets you select the Lilium HDR ReShade preset package so that saves you the extra step of downloading the reshade hdr shaders along with the decompression and moving of files.
Great video. These tools are amazing for these games on Windows 11. My biggest issue is that you shouldn't have to download programs to fix things like this. The devs or Microsoft should help fixing this, or maybe they don't think it's a problem? I don't know. I'm a movie guy, and if this issue was in every movie people would be up in arms about having raised blacks in every movie. So, there really needs to be a standardization for video games and how games look from a black level and color way. I feel as though games companies still don't know how to take advantage of HDR yet. It feels like all games right now are in an open beta where they're testing things. Because for me, the fact that you have to do this is just unacceptable.
They have no clue. If you see the last Xbox game announcements, they showed Stanfield (the biggest and most important game for them) with Raised blacks on SDR. So they're basically trying to advertise how good the game looks with black level raised. BTW you can use these tools to analyze movies using Reshade +MPV
I got Lilium's HDR analysis (ERROR). Further down it says: Error only HDR colour spaces are supported. I don't know what I'm doing wrong here. I followed the steps in this video. Can't get the hdr tool to show up and can't load in that majorpainthecactus folder like you have done. Nothing happens when I choose the folder.
@@plasmatvforgaming9648I wrote CSP_HDR10 over CSP_OVERRIDE and clicked enter. If it's the line under I must have done it wrong. Couldn't find that show brightness histogram either.
maybe instead of using curved level settings, try using adaptive tone mapper, while leaving it on unreal engine 4 method, using tone map 1 and exposure needs to be decreased to 3 or 5 in order to achieve your ideal peak brightness, this setting lowers the black levels and raise the peak brightness accordingly. I have tried using curved levels and it is just an sdr hdr trick that doesn't show hdr highlights or hdr content correctly.
I'll give it a try. Thanks for sharing. However, someone told me (pinned comment) that just changing the order and having the Curved level preset on top works, and it does
thanks for the in depth guide! do you have a git\google drive with already "fixed" presets for games? maybe even something community can add and update themselves.
Excellent. I have downloaded the files, I will mess with it tomorrow. I'm working on Red Dead Redemption 2, another supposed fake HDR game, it looks horrible even after endlessly re calibrating the monitor and game. SDR actually looks pretty good but Ill see what I can do with these tools
Thanks for the info. For whatever reason, whenever I enable the curved levels fx, my peak brightness goes from my desired 1000 to 80, and none of the settings seem to help it. Did you have any similar issues? EDIT: Just to update, I had to change my HDR mode to PQ instead of SRGB
Nice video! I follow you exact instructions from both this video and the Final setting for HGIG one. The issue I have now is the brightness during the day time is very low. The lilium hdr analysis shows my maxcll is only 300-400 even when I look at light sources such as sky. Do you know what would be the culprit? At night things seem fine though. I set my midpoint at 1 and adjusting max brightness around but nothing seems to fix. Ps. I'm using LG C9. Thanks in advance!
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 That was the issue, thank you! Unfortunately when I click on Lilium_analysis.fx, I get a large message in the top right corner that says "Colour Space Not Supported". If I uncheck Lilium_analysis.fx, the message goes away. So unless I can find a solution, I cannot use the brightness histogram graph or any of the features in that shader. However, the curve level shader works fine. So I am able to adjust black levels. Just wish I didn't have to guess no being able to see those graphs.
That happens with Auto HDR and you have to try enabling the srgb shader, there are 2 or 3 shades to try anabling to get Auto HDR to work with the HDR analysis tool
@@plasmatvforgaming9648have latest ( 5.9.2) but dont have lilum analysis tool , how can i install it mannualy in reshade? or how can i remove auto hdr from win 11? i have set up hdr profile for my lg c2 from win hdr tool. should i remove it?
I did everything like this But when i Move the black Point the graph does not Change at all, just the whole screen gets darker including the graph.. help
I haven't played Cyberpunk 2077 yet, but I have it on Xbox Series X. Does the game have hdr issue on console as well? I saw you fixed RDR2 hdr too in the comments, that's great 😁
I didn't see the Lilium shaders either when downloading the Prod80 package, but I discovered they have been separated into their own shader download packs. If you scroll down more when downloading shaders you will see "ReShade_HDR_shaders by Lilium"
Hey thanks a lot for the video. I just tried this with while trying to configure HDR for Baldur's Gate 3 and the black point adjustment doesn't work there either. The graphs are already super useful though. If you ever plan on playing that game I would really appreciate a video about how you'd go about adjusting the hdr settings on BG3! Thanks again for the video!
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 I just tried it and it works like a charm thanks so much. I had to shift the black point by 5 pts and it makes such a difference tbh. First time ever using reshade so thanks for the help!
One important thing: Some multiplayer games ban you for having Reshade installed for this game. One example is Escape From Tarkov, which i am playing. They will ban you if you use this on that game.
@plasmatvforgaming9648 I might have not set it up correctly. I had auto HDR enabled in windows 11. But not within the game itself. Silly thing is,I'd be in the game and hit home key,but not interface would appear.
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 on cyberpunk when I set the black level to 21 I don't see the graph going down the bottom right of the screen, do you know why? Thanks
hello @Plasma TV for Gaming , thanks, what this tool actually do? i mean, MaxCLL it shows it is not the REAL luminance of the display i guess, right? Cause if you change the luminance on your display that value remain the same. So what is that value? the tool from where take that number? from the EDID of the display?
Your settings worked beautifully, but the analysis tool did not shift at all when adjusting the black point. It must not be working properly on my system.
Just got an update notification on my CX, 04.41.45. haven't heard anything on it yet! I really don't trust these updates lately. Edit just read they are finally fixing VRR flickers and adding fine tune dark areas. Updating now. Hope I don't get screwed
Your settings looks great during the night in Cyberpunk but during the day the colors still look washed out and the max CLL tells me it's around 920.... So auto-hdr still looks better which is a shame cause I like the "dark" look with native hdr. I'm on LG C2 btw if that has any meaning
If the Maxcll is 920 you're getting clipping with HGIG and that's why it doesn't look good in some scenes. Make sure you adjust the Maxcll to be 800 for the C2
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Ahh, it ended up being the order of the shaders, as in the pinned comments at the top by jesstech. Didn't see that comment until I figured it out by myself. And my black floor number for my monitor, the LG 32GR93U-B ended up being 12. Now I am busy playing around with a midpoint so the dark areas aren't so dark.
I was wondering if you could shed some light on burn in/ out: I read an article the other day stating that OLED burn in/ burn out is caused only by the blue light and the heat temperature within the pixel in the panel. The article stated that it is why small red OLED screens that have been around for ten years still show no burn in/ burn out. Thinking about this more made me realise that the colour blue is almost constantly on the screen. Especially bright white scenes. Their is no way around this. This is why I turn on 'REDUCE BLUE LIGHT in the LG C1 menu, when looking at RU-vid videos and displaying Microsoft Edge pages on my LG C1 OLED screen. I also have HDR on at all times but I turn my LG C1 brightness down to 28, and I have HDR Tone Mapping switched on whilst turning the SDR Bar in Windows 11 all the way down, as low as possible. I will only switch HDR off if I am watching a movie through my PC. With the HDMI cable plugged into Port 4. 4K @ 120Hz.
I was wondering: You may be aware that Unreal Engine had support for HDR displays for a long time now. Do you have any information on the quality of their implementation?
@plasmatvforgaming9648 I'll try it thank you👍 Edit: yeah if anyone's having this problem in the future just make sure you right click and move prod80 to the top and it will work
I wonder what settings setup for your nvidia controll panel or radion from driver , cos i ussualy set 47% brightness and 70-80% contrast and it makes look more awesome (imho) so it also make affect on your reshade setup?
Native HDR Have more information for brigh objects, for example: looking to the bright outside when inside a tunnel. However, the SDR HDR trick tone mapping OFF no BFI is very hard to beat. I'd say the Native HDR still needs some checking vs SDR HDR trick to get the best of both. I'm just practicing with these fixes, I already know how to get better Native HDR results using Reshade. I'll share everything I know, the best of my knowledge each time
Not on PC, it is not necessary anymore when having Lilium's black floor fix shader. Here are the Cyberpunk settings ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OKThK63kYj0.html
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Thanks for the answer, I am on PS5 at the moment, I have tried most settings recommended by GamingTech channel, I tried 1 1.5 2 as mid tone both hgig and dtm I just can't find a setting good for me, it's either too dark or too blinding. With your settings 740 and 2 it seems the best so far that's why I was wondering if I should use FTD as well because though settings are good, some areas are still too dark others too bright.
When I install the HDR shaders for reshade they all have an error in the reshade app. For example lilum_hdr_analysis (error) [lilium_hdr_analysis.fx] in the menu. It actually tells me the error below saying that only HDR color spaces are supported. But I have HDR enabled in windows and HDR is running in game..so I dont know whats going.
The Witcher 3 Update has flawless Native HDR. It actually works for all games, all you have to do is to put the preset ls in order. Read the pinned comment
Hello, I followed all the steps and also the other tips for people who have the lilium_hdr_analysis.fx problem (error). But nothing changes, I wrote CSP_HDR10 under CSP_OVERRIDE and disable Win 11 automatic HDR. Could it be that on some games it doesn't work?

it’s weird that everything works on other games but when I add the HDR reshade Lilium on Halo infinite it doesn’t show up on the list of settings when adjusting things. but works on cyberpunk, alan wake 2 so far, kinda disappointed im not sure why the application and reshade doesn’t work when using xbox gamepass version, so I download it on steam, steam version of halo works on the folder but not the lilium, sucks coz Halo infinite is what I really wanna fix with oled g9
I tried this with Bioshock Infinite. It doesn't work for me. I get currently allowed override: none. Error: Only HDR colour spaces are supported. I followed every step of the video. Can't see any graph either. And on top of this my TV screen is blinking black randomly in pc mode and console mode. I don't know what's the issue. I got all the latest drivers for my gpu.
Maybe it only works for Win11, I'm on Win10. I thought it should work since it works with older games. It does say it works on older Windows versions and I did turn off auto hdr, so I can't see the problem.@@plasmatvforgaming9648
