Yes, it was. My grandma and some aunts watched this and then suggested my name because Reva Shayne was still a new character in 1984 when i wad born lol so reva helped name me. Miss this show so much.
Me too. My grandmother listened to GL on the radio until it was televised; and, watched until her death in 2000. I continued watching until it's final episode. What makes it worse, is the garbage that was left on television over this show and characters. 😪😪😪
@@srobinson848 That is awesome! My nephew was named after Joshua Lewis. I met Kim Zimmer twice, at 2 different GL fan lunches in NY. The 1st, early 80s, I took a picture of her with her daughter. The 2nd, 2001 or so, I showed her the picture and she cried.
Tom Pelphrey is a great actor, he has such amazing range. I love the way he delivered the line..."lady, do you hear yourself. Don't people just wanna smack you". lol
Yes, he was amazing on Ozark!!! I watched Guiding Light growing up. From a kid, with my mom and aunts, through the 80's as a teen and the 90's in my 20's. I watched sporadically after that.
Both Kim Zimmer and Tom Pelphrey did a awesome job in their scenes together as Mother and Son Reva and Jonathan both of them deserves emmy awards very talented actor and actress both of them good job Kim and Tom .

Hey did you know that Phoebe Dyvenor from Bridgeport is the Daughter of Sally Dyvenor who from 1985-Present has been playing Sally Metcalfe on The UK Soap Opera Coronation Street. Him, Ben Reade & Raphael "Rafe" Rivera all had the same problem, they were so wrapped up in what they thought was the truth they didn't want to acknowledge the truth and when they did in many ways it was too late.
Tom Pelphrey is so good. He would make for a great Finn on B&B as well. Tom Pelphrey as Sheila Carters son would be dynamite. More bite so to speak. Imagine him and Kimberlin Brown in scenes together. Wow.

He did what all great villains do made you feel for him and hate him at the same time in daytime only male villain who's done that to me is Adam Newman.
THE actor Jonathan was the best actor ever on The Guiding . He made me cry my eyes our when Tammy died. They change the characters personalities so much on that show
One of the best episodes ever! But Reva could go toe to toe with anyone on any given day. And she shut Jonathan down like she had to, out of love, via reversed psychology. He is hurt, so he hurt Tammy and others. He loves his mom & hates her. But he's the mirror image of Reva, only in male form.
It's her damn fault she had a f****** kid with another man in another country in which she doesn't remember so everything is happening to her is her damn flaut
Back in 1956, I couldn’t tell time, but knew once Guiding Light was over, I had to walk to afternoon kindergarten! It 15 mins on for back then & shared the 1/2 hour with “Search for Tomorrow.”
@@hotgritz4sho he’s actually done pretty well for himself! Most recently, he prominently featured in a David Fincher film for Netflix, Mank - about the making of Citizen Kane. Prior to that, he had a wonderful role on the 3rd season of Ozark, a series that’s also on Netflix. Even further back from that, around 2016, he had a role in the final season of a drama series on cinemax called Banshee. He’s stayed active as a character actor and in recent history, has gotten more recognition for his abilities.
God, I miss GL. I started watching around 2003 up until it ended. I thought Jonathan was a good character played by Tom Pelphrey. I remember when Jonathan and Sara got into that car accident after chasing Alan after Tammy's funeral and Reva screaming Jonathan's name at the wreck.
In The UK would have won an Award for Best Single Scene. Looking back I would have loved for Jonathan and Danny Santos to sit Rafe Rivera down and "Read" him Chapter & Verse. Tell them how lucky they were with having such an amazing Mother who loved him, how important it is to never assume anything without having all of the facts something Jonathan only knew too well. Know that at least you had a Father who was trying to make it up to you but you were so wrapped up in what you wanted you didn't care who got hurt in the process.
Haters. Guiding Light didnt go off the air cause of Jonathan and Tammy were together. Ratings went down after Tammy died. And The cameras on the last year. Filming through windowns and stuff we're pophetic. That is what killed the show.
I wasn’t watching back then, but it’s annoying how they all think that Tammy was a victim in all of this. Why can’t Jonathan set them straight and say that it was consensual, or am I wrong? Was it not consensual even though she didn’t know that JB was really her cousin, Jonathan, and then after that, they as Jonathan and Tammy and it up falling in love with each other for real. The acting between Kim’s number and the guy who plays Jonathan (I don’t know his name) is really good. It makes me sad that ratings slipped and guiding light I’m on others got canceled.
She was a victim. He knew she was his cousin, and he went after her out of revenge towards Reva. It doesn’t matter that it was consensual, his intentions were nefarious.
This was a VERY dark storyline. He had an incestuous relationship with his cousin! Then she gets killed later on! I can't watch this. I was going to watch but it's VERY dark and depressing!
Reva and Prince Richard had Jonathan. Then evil brother Edmund tried to kill the baby so they let Olivia’s sister & husband adopt him so he’d be hidden away and safe. But abused Jonathan his whole life.
Really disliked this period of Guiding Light. Felt like the beginning of the end, which unfortunately is what happened. The focus on Reva and a bunch of characters that didn’t feel like GL, Cassie Edmund Richard Olivia Jonathon etc, Wish they would have focused more on the Bauer’s and Spauldings like the early 90’s when the show was great.
As much as i like tom pelphrey everyone acting like he is was the end all to be all of gl nope to me he became a pain just like kim zimmer ....there was a good gl before they thought they had to make reva the center of gl so many good characters got swept to the side because of reva and her stupid family....i found the whole cousins being together ick ....they were still cousins don't matter if they were in foster care or not .
a big reason why guiding light is off the air is because it was Kim zimmer all the time Example those "inside the light" episodes were mostly about Reva And then zimmer got real fat Call me a fat shamer all you want but looks still matter in daytime Good looking actors draw more viewers And zimmer's looks the last few years of the shows run was a part of the reason why people didn't watch Not to mention the production values the 2 years were so bad That you see somebody's nose hairs etc. Yuck!!!!!
She didn't look bad at all. What is wrong with your eyes? She looked just fine. The reason people stopped watching was taking all the characters people loved off the show.

@@alyssalong4755 we both have watched soaps long enough to know that the 18 to 34 demographic is all the higher ups care about Younger actresses mean more sexual exploitation Yes zimmer is a great actress but she could not help guiding light lure younger viewers. Young people see sexualy before acting ability Guiding light became a soap with a lot older people dominating the stories and not many younger actors were that good accept for the actor who played Johnathan The powers behind the show turned the show into the guiding Reva! And that's why the show is gone
Hey man some of the biggest stars came out of The guiding light, if you couldn't make it out of guiding light but I called The guiding light academy school of acting and go on to bigger and better roles in Hollywood then you could make it anywhere and some big stars came out of GL, in the acting world you have to get in your acting chops get in your credit, so you can qualify to move on to the big school of acting and get the big bucks, guiding light was a springboard that lunch Dominion careers to the big screen, damn straight if you couldn't make it on guiding light you couldn't make it anywhere because they have created a lot of big-time stars from just show.
