Guiding light was my favorite soap opera reva and Josh were my super couple who I miss seeing every day. Kim Zimmer and Robert Newman are my favorite and my family 4 ever and always ❤️ love ya Kim and Robert
I'm seriously in a pool of my own tears right now. GL and ATWT was my life. I wish there was a way for them to return back to daytime television. My heart is breaking all over again.... :-(
Losing your favorite soap operas is like losing your family and your friends all at once--in mass proportions. I can relate to your tears. Once they are gone, there is no return. Thankfully, we still have videos for some of the shows, but not all of them--especially the earlier ones, such as my all-time favorite, The Secret Storm. I still mourn the loss of it to this day. Only a true, die-hard fan, such as yourself, can understand the sadness it brings. Bless you, my friend. 🤗🙏
I grew up with Soaps. Watched Ryan's Hope, Edge of Night, The Doctors, Another World, Young and the Restless, General Hospital, Texas, Passions, Guilding light and Days of our lives. Miss Soap Network where I could watch and enjoy.
Every time I watch clips like this I'm reminded of how much I miss this show. I started watching way back when Kevin Bacon played an alcoholic teenager.
I started watching Guiding Light in 1952 as a very young child. It was 15 minutes long. I thought Grant was very handsome also. Kim Zimmer had been gorgeous. I was surprised that she put on so much weight in the last few years on the show. Beth and Robert looked great. All great actors.. Miss the show.
My Great Grandmother, my Grandmother and my Mother listened to Guiding Light on the radio and moved to television. I grew up watching Guiding Light & As The World Turns and miss them. I was 4, watching As The World Turns when President Kennedy was assassinated.
My Grandma listened on the radio, too. When GL went to TV, she changed her housework routine around, so that she could stand in front of the TV, and iron, while it was on! I used to fold laundry, on the couch, with it on the DVR, after work, lol.
Same here!!!! I miss them so much. I grew up with GL and I feel like they were part of my extended family. I wish this segment were longer. I would love to know what the actors have been up to since the show ended and how they have adjusted. This was definitely the good ole days!
Dinah and Abby were what made me watch Guiding Light. I remember watching it on AFN with my mom when we were stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. Also, the lighthouse made me think of the Tybee Lighthouse in Savannah.
It was so nice of The Talk to invite the cast of ATWT and GL to come and share their experiences. It is sort like you father's new wife, inviting your mom over for dinner and saying thank you to your mom. You Made my husband a great man and provider.
I really miss this show 😭 loved GL 80s-2000, but didn't like when they went hand held camera style and got rid of the lavish sets. It's so unfortunate that a legacy show like this got the ax and CBS didn't try hard enough to keep it going. They could have cut it to a 30 min format.
A real treat is for “The Talk” to have paid tribute to all of CBS daytime soaps from the past. I bet none of them know about soaps like “The Edge of Night,” “Search For Tomorrow,” “Love of Life,” etc.
Loved Guiding light with this cast - plus Nola, Quinten,Roger, Ed. Etc. Early 80's. Ive seen Robert and Kim at the Barn Theater in Augusta MI and in the local grocery store. How exciting that was.
They need to bring back all guilding light also as the world turns and another world. All great training for future. Look at all big stars who got start on some of them
Guiding Light was on the air for 72 years, including both TV and Radio. It was on the air for so long that the only two programs, in the entire history of American Broadcasting from radio era to present day, that have been on longer than Guiding Light is the religious program "Music and the Spoken Word" which debuted in 1929 and the country music program "The Grand Ole Opry" which debuted in 1925.
They could have made millions if YT was what it is today by shifting the show to RU-vid. I cried big crocodile tears on the last episode. I have never been so devastated by the end of a show, I've missed it so much. I can't believe I missed this!
Messylin , Roger Thorpe character, Holly and the Bauer's were the real G. light! There were many fun charachters of note. Quintin is another one that I recall. Back in the seventies and eighties , CBS soaps had some fantastic and very funny writing. When Hunt block played Craig on ATWT, he was so clever with lines and deliveries, he had me cracking up no matter how bad his cad of a character was. Those two soaps didn't take themselves too seriously and that is what made them the best! Good or bad story lines, they were part of Americana and should have never left the screen. We lost friendships with what could have been everlasting continuity in society. There was a place for that type of corny entertainment as long as you didn't take it too seriously. It was cheap escapism and therapy for some. The elite don't want human to human connections anymore anyway. I am not endorsing the bad behavior of some of the soap storylines, but dealing with people all my life in the workplace, for the elderly also with no family, this was the most stable connection they had. It was comfort food for many. Now what is there on TV with the connection that those two soaps had? Nothing. I started watching CBS soaps with my mom since birth, and even if I wasn't home to watch them you could always catch up and find out what's new in Springfield or Oakdale. Yes, I miss these actors and actresses in those roles and hope that they are o.k.
Now that the talk is cancelled bring back Guiding light and As the World Turns. but I also heard CBS is bringing back Melrose place but if it becomes a soap that would be interesting
then this shit talk show took there time slot ,thats prob what killed my grandma is them taking her fav show off the air ,i rember coming home from school and jumping on the sopha with her and watching till 4 pm man i miss that time with her!
Could someone please not acknowledge the contributions of The African American Actors. A lot of amazing Soul Sistas & Brothers made their prescense felt in these Soap Towns. Also Latin Actors were very instrumental in the Shows as well.
Cicely Tyson, Jesse L. Martin, Ruby Dee, Billy Dee Williams, Giancaro Esposito, Sharon Leal, Kevin Mambo, Nia Long Lawrence St. Victor and Karla Mosley (who are now ion The Bold & The Beautiful).
The Best was Beverlee Mc Kinsey as Alexandra Spaulding ,she NEVER over acted or was unbelievable in her acting ,she WAS the BEST , and 0 Emmys ,she was the Actors CHOICE
Thank you for all your Videos ! GL ist a Big Part still of my life. Btw Have you Maybe the Scene From Lillian When She Say "We are Lucky to have Each Other"? When yes can you upload it?? That Scene means a lot for me. It was 2009 August 11/08 When I remember right. Greets Ollie from germany
It would have been nice to see a clip of Harley Cooper. She was a fan favorite and the main reason I started watching the show. I also wonder what the actress Beth Ehlers is doing now and how she looks like. Vanessa and Alexandra clips would also have been great too. Miss them ALL
Lots of ppl love these shows, but look at these fools across from them all dressed up.....feels like they're making fun of it all, totally disrespectful. I'd rather watch GL or ATWT than any of the stupid things they talk about on the Talk any day.
Josh was nothinghe used olivia up but he got hisuppence so did philip i was glad when his father got his uppence so it is a shame that it has finished because i would have loved to see philip jeffery josh and bill all in jail because tjey are the ones who made olivias life hell rage should have gone to.
