Guiding Light May 10 2001, Edmund catches Richard, Cassie, & Phillip trying to flee 

In San Cristobel, Olivia is the only one to offer Beth congratulations on her engagement. Phillip and Holly find Cassie and Richard on the beach and tell them that the San Cristobel Airforce forced their plane to turn around. Edmund is aware of their plans. They prepare to act on Noah's plan B, escaping the island in speedboats, when Edmund and his forces arrive in a fury of gunfire. Noah comes to their rescue and the group makes a run for it. Edmund demands that the guards go after Cassie. To protect his wife, Richard pulls a gun and shoots Edmund. Cassie, with Phillip and Holly, hears the gunshot and worries that Richard may be in trouble. She refuses to leave without him and turns around to find him. Richard catches up with the group and Noah convinces him to run assuring him that Cassie is on the other boat with Phillip and Holly. Richard gets on the boat as Cassie looks for him on the beach. She comes face to face with a very much alive Edmund, who had been wearing a bulletproof vest. Richard is distraught when he realizes that they left Cassie behind.
