Guiding Light: Reva's Return Part 17 - The Morning After The Plane/Josh & Annie's Wedding

The morning after Josh & Annie's wedding and Josh finding out that Reva was alive, Reva goes to talk to Josh at Josh & Annie's house. Josh tells her to leave but Annie says it's ok.
Josh asks why she didn't tell him and the children she was alive and she explains her reasons.
Josh asks when Reva & Alan are leaving Springfield and Reva says she's not leaving because she's realized that she can't solve anything by running away.
Reva pushes because she wants to talk to Marah. Josh says it's not a good time, that she won't even talk to him. Josh says that he doesn't want Reva to upset Marah any more.
Ross stops by and tells Josh that the first step is to annul the marriage with Annie, then declare Reva legally alive so they can divorce and then he & Annie can remarry.
Ross leaves and Reva pushes Josh about when she can see the kids. He tells her that she just has to trust him.

I think he's so hurt that Reva didn't come straight to him that he's in shock and not thinking straight. I love when Reva tells him later at Cross Creek that she didn't know there were rules about how you're supposed to come back from the dead :)

Cynthia Watros is a great actress. She did a great job making Annie a multi layered character, even after they chose to make Annie a villain. I see her doing the same with Nina.

I get that Josh's coping skills are poor, but there's no justification for his explosive tantrums, all targeted at a woman he claimed to love more than life + the mother of his children.

Yeah - I think he was just stunned and overwhelmed. And written to be SOO angry because that would keep he & Reva apart the most.

It seems like Josh is hiding behind Marah as an excuse to not deal with his own feelings. He was such a total jerk here. Don't get me started on Annie, either. What a biatch!

@@Tennbelle9 and it fits with how he used to treat Reva when he was angry with her in the 80s too, like when she was taking care of him while he was paralyzed and she was married to his father. Their passion always came out in extremes.

I just wrote about that above. That they could easily turn and become their own worst enemies much of the time. I think that's because they shared human weaknesses. Pride, both impulsive (Reva more than Josh), judgmental. They definitely loved each other but man, they also knew how to go for the jugular during tough times.

Josh and Reva - the characters - were their own worst enemies especially when it came to each other's character defects. Maybe that's why they stayed together so long. The physical attraction (!) and the fact they were perfect mirrors for each other's weaknesses. The love too, obviously. And the kids.

Both characters were so impulsive and assumed the worst of each other sometimes. Instead of therapy and learning to slow down and talk & work through anything together, they both jumped into other relationships way too soon before eventually ending up back together. This also is the artifice of soap opera storytelling - where storylines are often focused on either tearing apart or bringing the same super couple back together - and the longer the characters stay on the show, the wilder the plots can get - ha! On a personal level, I never had the heart to watch Josh & Reva be mean to each other back in the day. So I would tune out as things got ugly and then resume as they worked their way back together. It's been interesting to watch the majority of their story (that's on RU-vid) in the last year instead of over the 28 year span that it originally aired.

⁠⁠@@Tennbelle9this is so me!! There are certain Josh and Reva scenes that I cannot watch because of how mean they were being to each other. The one where after Reva comes back to Springfield and Josh and her argue at the Ball in front of everyone😢😢 the end of this scene here, I have to mute some parts 😢😢😢 also later when she brings the Christmas gifts over for the kids and he threw them out 😢😢I just love them. I still hate that we didn’t get any good Jeva moments after 2006

I find it sometimes frustrating how these stories are written - once she remembered everything she would have wanted to see Dylan too

Apparently Dylan didn't want mom to visit when she returned to life lol because Dylan didn't want her to see him w/out sight. He visited about a year later after regaining his sight, which was when we learned why Reva hadn't seen him
