Why can't daytime be this creative? This is incredible stuff. Michael Zaslow was the master of daytime and had some great lines he wrote himself.

GL won its first Emmy for Outstanding Drama with the submission of the “funhouse” tapes.

Back when I used to watch "Soaps" I was a big fan of this plot line. Michael Zaslow was so great as Roger. Hard to believe he died 20 yrs ago he was diagnosed with ALS in 1997 and pass about one yr later.

If soaps had been this creative, they'd still be around.

Guiding Light Had Never Been The Same Since Michael Zaslow as Roger Thorpe Was Gone.🙁

I love how Roger almost spat out Alan's name in hate when revealing his plan.

Daytime died with Michael.

Guiding Light was NEVER the same after they fired him because of his eventual fatal illness. GL never recovered from the lose of Michale Zaslow and the character of Rodger Thorpe

If there were actors and writing like this on the Guiding Light now, then it wouldn't be going off the air.

Don't you notice that Alan & Roger always had this Love/Hate Relationship with one another. Kind of like Victor/Jack on Y & R.

The first one. But that's because he benefited from the best, darkest writing in daytime history.

This clip didn't include the BEST part of this storyline, when Roger was dressed like a clown and chasing pregnant Rita (Lenore Kasdorf) trough the Hall of Mirrors.

wow, AND the introduction of Nola and the Reardons. Kelly is in this scene and hasn't even met Nola yet. This is deeply classic Guiding Light right here.

Now how could Holly be so dense at 8:50 when Ed specifically told her Roger might know where she is. You would think after being married to him, she could recognize Roger's fake Hispanic accent when she hears it!

Isn't it ironic now that Alan Spaulding is "Dead" and now he and Roger are now in Heaven along with Ross Marler.

The Three Worst Mistakes they did was Killing Kathy in the 1950's, Having Maureen Bauer die in the 1980's and last but not least Firing Michael Zaslow.

Here's a funny fact. Jessica Leccia (Ex-Natalia) was only Three Years Old when this Storyline took place and over Thirty Years Later, she and John Wesley Shipp (Ex Kelly) would work together on One Life To Live.

Also, Zaslow was the first person killed on Star Trek.

This Roger was completely different than Roger of 1995 I guess had alot to do with the writers

I like Alan's Mr. Rogers cardigan sweater.

Then again,each of them did become better people before the end.

I think people looked at The Bauers having a Boarding House because so many people lived there, most notably Holly when Ed was Married to Maureen, Rick and I think that Alan Michael also lived there too.

My Bad! I mean to say that their Characters are now together, and since Alan, Ross, and Roger had such a volatile history it's strange to know that they are a;l dead.

I see Bold and Beatiful doing some of the same stuff. You add new characters to revolve around the old.

Do you guys realize that Michael Zaslow worked with all three actors who played Alan. Chris Bernau, Daniel Pilon, & Ron Raines. Who do you think he had the best chemistry with?

Also when they did this Documentary, I think that Maureen Garrett started living with her Ex Wife Janet. I heard that they broke up. I would love for there to be a Documentary titled. I am a soap actor/actress and I am Gay. In the UK it's a natural thing. Actors/Actresses from Coronation Street, Eastenders, Emmerdale, and Hollyoaks have actors/actresses who are gay in real life.
