Maria Stoljar interviewed leading Australian artist Guido Maestri (also known as Guy Maestri) in episode 108 of the Talking with Painters podcast. He is an acclaimed painter and has won several art prizes in Australia including the famous Archibald prize. Following the interview Guido generously agreed to be filmed while starting a new painting and spoke about his thought processes as he painted. Guido starts these works in the field and takes them back to the studio where he takes a slower more considered approach. The video was filmed (in March 2021) by a river outside the NSW town of Mudgee in Australia where Guido spent the first five years of his life.
