Ever wondered what Keybinds or combat settings would help to improve your gameplay in Guild Wars 2? In this video, we go over some of the most important Key binds and settings that you can change in the game to help you improve.
protip: when you are using "Fast with Range Indicator" ground targeting, you can right click before releasing the ability key down to cancel a cast. In other words, you can cancel it while still holding the other key down.
Works wonders back when Mechanist had a glitch/bug where you can still use your default toolbelt skills simultaneously with mech commands. That's how I gave my mech a revive skill by using Toss Elixir R. For example: You equip "Elixir R" in Utility Slot 2. This will make "Toss Elixir R" overlap with Crisis Zone. What this does is whenever you hit F2 you will activate Crisis Zone as well as Toss Elixir R But if you have "Fast Range Indicator" Holding F2 will cause Crisis Zone to go off while Toss Elixir R is still in ground targeting mode, giving you an opportunity to cancel it with right click and save your rez for emergencies. Unfortunately ANET fixed it. Now heal mech is a lot more boring. 😔
Getting an MMO mouse (I prefer the ones with 13 to 15 buttons, so I can use it to activate all numbered weapon attacks and skills), and perfecting your keybinds are two of the best things you can do as a new player, before you build up muscle memory on a less than optimal keybind setup. It doesn't take too long to learn a new setup, but the first few days/nights of using a different setup of keybinds, and using an MMO mouse, can take some getting used to. Those two things changed me from being BAD at playing this game, to being somewhat competent. Instead of using a mount wheel software add-on, I prefer to use my shift key + another key as a combination for mounting each different type of mount. It's quicker, and choosing the right mount and getting on it quickly can be important sometimes, specially now that we can mount while in combat in some circumstances.
I agree with everything you said except for the mount wheel addon haha... I prefer having the radial mount addon keybind to one of my extra mouse keys and all I have to do is press the key and move my mouse slightly in the direction of the mount I want to use. The radial mount addon has also been a blessing in WvW where it queues your mount and immediately mounts you up as soon as you leave combat
Holding both mouse buttons to run while also cast spells on yourself/the targeted enemy without needing to hover the mouse over in that location.. Its a small tip but it works if you're moving a lot.
Nice and concise. Many thanks for the video. Curious because I couldn't read it on the screen, what were the keybinds you used for the F6 (Attack my Target) and the F7 (Return to Me) on mechanist function key skills? And, I guess while I'm asking, what did you do with F5?
@gailbrookhart1777 so I have the logitech G502 mouse. I use 2 of my mouse buttons for F6 and F7. For F1, I use "Z". F2, F3, F4 and F5, I use mouse button 3 + number 1,2,3 and 4
