im sorry man but i left the game before the exp came out this game was a bore after lvl 80 , with no real missions to do , and maps even tho they changed still felt like the exact same thing climb this look at that stand in a event and just spam attack . the worst part of the game and the reason this game has problems is the fact that you can buy money that makes every thing way over priced .... for you who still love the game i envy you but i tried coming back to this game so many times sadly it leaves much to desire

i have played a shit ton of mmorpg but never had i made it to the final lvl because i just get bored but i really like how you can pick so many ways of leveling in gw2 so i finished it

@@Kyosika "Heroic" is the normal version of the raid meant for casual-regular players who play in a guild. Normal is meant to just be cleared with randoms who are decent. LFR is basically just a free pass for people who want the story. Mythic raids are when the content gets hard and you need to raid with a good guild if you plan on even clearing one boss most of the time.
But still can't understand what give me legendary armor? Just loook like skin ant nothing more? So wherebis goal game when raid boss is just for try your mechanic and what dmg you can make with our class in this dungeon and nothing import get reward for killing strong boss or raid?
@@burundukasburundukas6645 legendary gear and weapons both have the added benefit of also allowing you to change stats when out of combat at no cost. if you want to be able to switch builds without crafting new gear (as well as the cool effects of legendary gear) then you'll want legendary. this will help a lot when you build switch for different mechanics on content and dont want to take up inventory space in either your character or bank.
Congrats on level 80! Now what? Now comes the actual game, of course! Because almost everything you can do that is fun requires it! Also, for the most part, being a free-to-play player means that the best parts of the game is locked to you. There's so much more you can do with just one of the expacs than is available in core Tyria. You should definitely feel obligated to buy at least one.
Dude I love your video and your clear explanation a few years back I played this game kinda just threw cash at the game then one day the worst happened I forgot my password lost my account email and lost everything. 2 years has now passed I spoke to the arena net support and my memory was jogged I remembered my old email and MasterCard details then boom I was reset up and playing again I have 3 lvl fresh 80s toons lots of outfits and skills maxed out but now I can see money is not the answer anymore and lvl 80 is go out and have fun and actually do something for your self and feel game proud not money proud well done guild wars for fixing the system for future players to come :)

Dud there is a crazy amount of stuff to do. Iv been playing for years and have not done 3/4 ths of what there is to do. Always something to gring your ass off.
Just to clarify the comments about raids, you CAN run a raid boss again during the same week. However, you just need to have an instance opener who has not defeated the boss e.g. out of 10 ppl in the raid group, 1 person who hasn't beaten the boss has to run in and open up the instance for the group. In addition, certain rewards (Legendary Insights) and collection items can only be farmed once a week so if you do run the same boss twice, you will only get Magnetite shards and other random items.
Note: Raids are NOT the only way to get Legendary Armor. You can do WvW in order to get it as well but you'd need at most 2500 rating in wvw. which is several months of nonstop farming.

You can finally enjoy and explore the world then. In GW there is no real rush to get to 80, and things dont change much when you do. You can do dungeons, raids, explore, craft, jumping puzzles etc etc.
4:05 I love Nevermore staff, however, that animation with the birds swooping is *verrry* annoying. Should only do it once on first cast or something. I thought it was an animation glitch when I first saw it.
Maybe you can and that's why I don't notice them as frequently. I'd probably love them if it were my own, but when it's someone else's, it's distracting and annoying XD It's just too much.

Most of the others have left or do other content unless something is new. Again we need as many quality you tubers covering a game we all love.
going for a legendary will drain your resources and time a whole lot just for a unique skin and there are defenetly far more important things to arrange once you first hit 80

Path of fire is the lastest expac. Story is quite good! Heart of thorns offers more replayability. Both have unique elite specializations! Level up to 80! Then decide. I would start with heart of thorns. For classes you are most always good. Go for Warrior, Guardian, Elementalist, Mesmer or ranger! Other classes are fine too but are less sought for

the expansions are definitely worth it mate, I wasn't sure myself at first after buying them i never looked back it offers SOOOO much content and thousands of hours of play.
The problem with raiding...is that not every class is welcome. Necros are never welcome to a raid... U.u and the amount of time you may spend building your class just to get kicked out of raid groups because of your class ia worthless so raiding is something people can skip if not then ppl should research before creating a class if they wish to be able to participate in everything this game has to offer without getting kicked out
You are right in the regard that Necro is not very welcome. However, I do think that Necro is the ONLY class which is very situational. Every other class has a specific role it can fulfill in a raid!
So the second thing you mention in a "what do after 80" is crafting legendaries? Leggys are the last thing you need. It's a money sink for people who already have a couple alts. Also you didnt even think of mentioning PvP/WvW
So if you had to recommend purchasing one expansion before the other, which would it be? HoT or PoF? I have neither of them but I personally feel very attached to this game, my very first MMORPG game, right now even at lvl 65.
To chronologically play through the game I would start with HoT. It also offers elite specializations that are still meta! If you're into raiding then it also offers the most raid wings. So, I would start with HoT
I play both games, and though I prefer WoW raiding due to my investment in the lore, he's right in a sense to be honest. Raid encounters in WoW are always gated by gear checks (including a DPS checks). The more gear you acquire the more you can cheese the encounter. It doesn't mean that you can disregard the mechanics. Mechanics are very much integral to a clear at higher difficulties (until the raid is completely outgeared by the players at least). In GW2, you don't have gear checks at all. You can clear any raid wing in exotic armor (which is extremely easy to obtain), and you can continuously wipe in full ascended (which has the highest stats anyone can get). In short, since there is no gear treadmill whatsoever in GW2, the raids are all about mechanics and the appropriate builds for each encounter. In WoW, you need enough gear to bypass the checks before even getting to certain mechanics. If you have enough gear, you can also even bypass some of those mechanics out of sheer DPS.
@Jamie R That "way less ilvl", as low as it might be, is still technically a minimum that needs to be reached. You can't defeat a boss that has an enrage timer unless your group's output exceeds the minimum output required to beat that timer, even if it were a plain boss that does not have any mechanics and that you spam DPS on. This is why preparing for an upcoming raid by maximizing one's ilvl before it even releases is an integral part of mythic progression. People even rage if they feel like they have been cheated in that regard, which is why RNG gets so much hate and bugs like the one that happened to weekly mythic+ chests when M+ started in BFA are deemed unacceptable.
some fights are different than others. some are your dps checks, some are healing checks and some fights are all about mechanics those are usually just idiot checks tho.
I pre-ordered this game, and took time off work at launch to get a max level character. Then I quit, I didn't see what I could enjoy about the end game. Dungeons seemed fully fucked, and most importantly I was being a turd with my view of the game. A friend that I started with kept playing, and convinced me to give it another go. What I really like so far is the weapons systems for classes, and the fluid natures of zones/xp carrots. Also, I really like the open world content of bosses, events, and encounters, and wish I knew more about them. That being said there are some concerns I have about some things. I don't like getting non class items from reward chests, not the chests you might find at the end of a jumping puzzle. The kind you get for doing a set number of goals. My biggest thing though is equipment rewards, and upgrades. My friend was telling me that most of the end game stuff, outside of fractals (?), is negligible, and for the most part was cosmetic. In the absences of dungeons, and what was described to me as "elitist" raiders in wow is what fractal runners are, I would like to see rewarding open world grinds to craft better items for my character. Give me a chance, as kind of a new player at this point, to learn and dedicate some time to getting gear. Then perhaps looking into fractals. If you stayed this long, thank you. I am drunk, but tried to get my point across in as many words as possible. At the same time not being too wordy.
@@Kyosika HoT masteries are handy in the latter maps as well. Even though PoF mounts can do it all I still use the Mushroom jumping mastery in the latest map, Drizzlewood.

I think you're talking about my Warrior? The Yellowish armor? That's Tier 3 cultural armor from the Norn. The Scrap is something you can pick up from the gem store!
@sightinsight Super late reply to this comment, but at no point in time in all of WoW's history, even in Classic when mechanics are at a bare minimum; are you able to outright ignore them. Unless you can DPS the boss so hard they literally don't have the time to do the mechanics (which means your group has wildly outgeared the boss), you must do the mechanics or you die. I challenge anyone to tell me about a boss where you can outright ignore mechanics while on-level with appropriate gear for the instance. But I'll save anyone who wants to try the time. They don't exist. The best case scenario is that you have a specific raid comp to cheat a mechanic (cheesing). However in this case you're still caring about the tactics and mechanics. You're just exploiting a detail of the encounter to make said mechanic/tactic not matter.
That's a shame, part of what I enjoy about MMOs is dungeons. I used to love raids, but now they require a level of time commitment that as an adult with a job and very busy evenings doing other stuff isn't very feasible.
i have a lvl 80 herald. i have been thinking of crafting my weapons (ascended for now and later perhaps a legendary) and armor. is this viable? how long will it take me to do this considering im a very casual player? and most important of all. which type of armor/weapon to create?
Look at the Snow Crows website for the Gear you'll need ;) Crafting ascended armor/weapons is quite viable! You can craft the armor on your Rev and then you can swap it to your Warrior or Guardian. You van always change the stats at the Mystic forge!

In your video it sounds like you could start raiding quite after becoming lvl 80. That is definitely not the case. Im Lvl 80 for years now and still havent been able to do a raid lol
I'm new to the game but I'm watching post level 80 guides so i have a rough idea when i do hit 80! Your videos give a good insight on upcoming events ( i like to know the game a bit before playing it so that I'm not over whelmed later on ). Just wondering if its possible to catch up to everyone else, with the best gears, masteries and such without spending money ? How much time would it take roughly per character?
Heya there! Thank you for your question! I'm glad my videos helped you get on your way. If you reached level 80, het ascended gear and all materies, I think it would take you about 20-30 hours. Spending money won't speed up your progress. Money (gems) van only be used for cosmetic items ;)

No worries. PvP is quite active but the majority of players are playing PvP. Most classes are quite ok! If you want to be 100% sure that they pick you, go or any of these: Elementalist, Warrior, Guardian, Ranger or mesmer. The other classes aren't bad but you see them less often in meta compositions.

Hey there! I think you mean Ascended Gear? I think the fastest way is to craft it. It is expansive though. Otherwise, play the Living World and get it through achievements. Also, Fractals are the best way to get ascended rings etc.
Part of me feels the same. I've only heard about how this game is really good when it comes to leveling, and how leveling was quick and easy. While it isn't particularly challenging, it does take a very long time for someone who is new to play this game from 1-80. Took me about a week of hardcore play-time, which would be fine if the content in between was interesting, but it just really isn't. I honestly wish there was more to do while leveling rather than a large majority of the fun stuff being put at level 80. Then again, Star Wars: The Old Republic was my first MMO, and provided a ton of stuff to do during the leveling process (while also telling an interesting Star Wars story), so I might've been expecting something more like that.
@@tlozmeowcatz7991 I actually feel like the leveling process gets more boring the harder you rush. Meaning when I started my necro a week ago or so, I walked through the world curious of what happens around me, what specific kind of region I'm in, what happens in all the places where I did all the hearts. It felt a little bit like the story this game is really lacking imho. Like, the personal story every ten levels for me does in no way compensate what the rest of the game is missing compared to WoW or SW:TOR or w/ever. Since I started rushing since I am really looking forward to playing the level 80 content, the leveling process feels more like a mini game where you search for all the things on the map, run over them and away again. Guess I'd really prefer a classic questing system in the end. Ofc I could just take it slow like I did in the beginning but then it'd take even longer until I can play with my friends and see the actually interesting parts of the game...
Lvl 80 is like a control tutorial about consuming, movement, what your abilities does (not even how to apply them though), how to buy and pick mission ect. My point was that you do not!! Learn anything about the game and what to do.
how hard is endgame pve in gw2 fractals and raiding? my main game is wow and I raid mythic, and while there are variances, wow mythic raiding is considered to be some of the most challenging content available to gamers in mmos. is endgme pve challenging enough to keep hardcore players engaged?
Yeah, there's quite a lot to keep you engaged to be honest. Raiding consists out of 5 wings with about 15-20 raid bosses. Not as much as WoW but raiding is around since 2015. Fractals are basically end game dungeons, they're pretty cool too! Usually you get a set of daily fractals. Currently I'm working on collections and unique skins :) So yeah, it does keep me engaged! I keep trying to get into Gw2 from playing Wow since beta... but i just cant get invested in Gw2 like i can in wow idk why... I dislike just about all the races in Gw2...none of the classes excite me and i even got an engineer to 80 but just didn't feel like facerolling the fractals or anything else really. took me 2 whole years to transfer from wow to gw2 reasoning was because i treated gw like wow, which you will hear a lot i mean there are so many diffirent things to do at 80, yeah its diffirent from wow, but wow now is 'watch the youtube tutorial, then get accepted in a raid and grind the fuck out of it, meanwhile in gw you can do a lot of stuff and its more casual, and once you get geared, you are fine but in wow everything resets constantly :) while i do prefer the holy trinity system, i can adjust myself to GW's, but the process took a long time

PoF is less frustrating for most players, especially when new to the game. HoT isnt bad and to play the story in order you would have to play HoTs story before PoFs but the HoT maps can be very annoying (looking at you especially Tangled Depths!) Personally i enjoy the PoF Mount masteries more than the HoT masteries. Though if you are looking specifically for raid related stuff go with HoT, also i would check out which elite specilization you get with which expansion before making the final decision. Personally i prefer PoF by far though

Do they have a raid finder or raid difficulty that's just casual because in every RPG I play I don't want to do raids just the easy ones and then I stick to PVE as long as I can kill everything in PVE solo raids are really pointless
Aaaalmost had me sold until you talked about max level farming low level areas for making gold and gathering crystals etc. One of the things that turned me off this game when I first started playing was the horrific zergfests that made it completely pointless to play on anything other than an incredibly fine tuned glass canon with maxed movement speed. As someone who likes playing healers/utility players, this made the game that "lets you play your way" really disappointing. That being said, it sounds like the latest xpac is much more hopeful. Might be worth gutting through the rather meh thorn xpac to get to the new one...
Yes, still accurate! There have been Strike Missions added over time - More raids - More Events etc. But I'd start with the things I've mentioned in this video
Quick note about raids; you can do them multiple times a week but you don't get rewards. So there's no real profit from it. Except the few magnetide shards you'll get.

Yes! You can create armor for your character and other characters. You can also craft legendary armor/weapons there. Don't level Weapsonsmith or something on multiple characters. That's a waste of resources ;)

I'd really love a small video about how to progress in HoT content. so to say, I keep strolling through the area but don't really know what I should do at first. For example to have progress in HoF, the story says I should master "Gliding", but somehow I'm just blind or too stupid, to get this one point, loosing myself in this leafy, deadly place of night and day. i would be highly grateful for a small video of guidance here for the first steps in HoT addon, please. It's not that big of a problem with PoF, that area does not obfuscate me as much as HoT does. But still, I'm keeping out of HoT because i'm so frustrated with the layout of the HoT maps. I'm not quite sure what you mean but I think you want to learn how to glide? Make sure you toggle the right mastery track (can be found in the hero panel (H)) and then you've to level up once more to unlock gliding!
I don't get a mastery point from the first part of the story of HoT. But if I want to go on with the the story, I need one, because the story say "learn to glide".

They did add collections for the first tier (core game) legendaries. You don't need to immediately max out the masteries, but do it as you go along. Alternatively you can just buy the precursor from the trading post
I was gonna give this a try, but it just seems like a lesser version of final fantasy 14, which wouldn't be a problem if the game was actually free to play, but it seems in this video like the game isn't actually fully free to play, but that you need to take advantage of a cash shop and dlcs later, so why choose this game over ff14 if ff14 has better graphics, skill effects, better pve mechanics, more content, better music, interesting crafting, better story and just generally better overall in almost every aspect. Or am I wrong? And please don't hate on me, I'm not here to shoot down gw2 and promote ff14, but here because I might actually be interested in trying gw2 since I don't have much time on my hands to play and for that reason don't want to pay the monthly subscription in ff14.
I myself haven't played FF14 as I'm done with sub fee games buuut I've played GW2... ~Once you pay for an expansion there's no subscription fee. You'll have to buy things from the gem store for convenience at some point but really, that's just more stuff to spend gold on anyway if you don't want to pay. (I get by just fine that way and don't live on the game.) ~All non-expansion content is free if you're an active player and the window to collect each new chapter of the story isn't small. ~Graphics are overrated since if that's really what you care about you shouldn't be playing any older games. ~Skill's effects are odd in GW2, every class playing much like a support and DPS at the same time but it's done fairly well and you can mix and match passives and stats until you find a balance you like. ~GW2 mechanics are fairly basic for a MMO but vary depending on the content. Open world is mostly casual but has some unique fights and overall a lot of bosses/events. There are challenge modes for Fractals & Raids not making the game a pushover. ~More content? I doubt it as GW2 keeps all lv80 content relevant so each update only adds more you can keep doing. Content includes: Story instances. Jumping Puzzles. Mini-games w/ glider, mounts, & then some. Ley-Line Anomalies. Bounties. World Bosses. Meta events. Dungeons. Fractals. Raids. World vs World & PvP. Then collections, which can involve scavenger hunting. (All of which is spread out so may be tricky to discover it all.) ~Crafting is kept pretty simple in GW2 but it's kept useful too along with an economy that keeps most items/resources in the game useful, even lowbie stuff. ~People quite like the music and the story has a subtle political approach to handling dragons. Both preferences are subjective. ~GW2 is the best MMO I've played so far as they've handled the overall quality of life for the game well while not invalidating previous content because of gear/level progression. To be fair you probably need to make the comparisons yourself. No hate here. GW2 would definitely save you money in the long run.
I think so, yeah! You can get a few Black Lion Keys by doing the story. These keys can be used to open Black Lion Chests which give you cosmetics that you can normally only acquire by spending real life money ;)
Yeah, I just reached level 80. Since I bought both expansions, I get a kind of "80 level boost", but I didn't use it - I enjoyed getting exp by myself and discovering. Unfortunately, just as I reached lv 80, I tried to start "Path of Fire". I had no chances against first boss. I had to retreat. Now, I'm wondering what to do next.
Ask a guildie to do the first mission with you! You'll get a raptor that helps you travel. Then move to Heart of Thorns and see if you can do that! Do you have full exotic gear?

Mythic raiding definitely requires following mechanics and assigning tasks to different members, a longside meeting a certain dps check. I haven't done progression raiding since the start of legion (but did so for many years) and nowadays dps checks are moderately easy to hit, you will find that most of the issues that stem from progression are raid members failing mechanics. Like I said great video, but a pet peeve of mine when people have such uninformed opinions and state it as fact.
I partially agree! Mythic is really hard core. I might had to mention that. But most Heroics and Normals can be done by getting a high ilevel. It's still very enjoyable non the less
Heroic raids still actually require mechanics to be followed to a point, its just more forgiving because at a certain point gear simply trivialises the majority of mechanics as you say. But the key phrase is "getting a high ilvl", before that point heroic raids are pretty challenging to the average player. Typically at the start of expansions or the release of new raids via content patches, heroic raids actually do have a progression phase where the current gear available is not enough to trivialise mechanics. Lesser skilled guilds will spend a larger amount of time on these. This would be like me saying fractals are a simple dps race with zero required mechanics/tactics if I were to base my entire experience solely on T1 and T2 fractals. Its not until you progress to t3 and t4 fractals you realise this to be untrue.
I have 3000+ hours in GW2 and have played from the pre-release event. And I've Raided at the Mythic level in WoW on several occasions, to include the most recent tier: Antorus... At this point in either games development, I'd say they are about equal, and which is more reliant on mechanics or damage would have to be evaluated on a fight-by-fight basis. Personally, I find raids in GW2 to go against the original design philosophy. And a lot of the various meta's for raiding since HoT was release seem to be work around for not having a trinity. GW2 wasn't supposed to be a trinity based game. It also wasn't supposed to bring the elitist "you must run this build/comp" attitude. And while the introduction of Raids seems to have been overall positive in GW2, it did introduce that attitude to PvE; and every raid would go way smoother with an actual tank or healer (not that any classes currently resemble those since we got raids). So for those reasons, I personally think they are just better implemented in WoW. But again that's my personal opinion, many GW2 guild mates disagree with me on that point. Overall, great video. But as end1e pointed out, that hit a button for me as well. His comparison between WoW raids and Fractals are quite accurate, with WoW's gear progression resembling the ascended/agony progression needed for higher fractals. Normal WoW raiding is an introduction to the mechanics and Bosses with only half of their full damage and mechanics in place, this is why you can out DPS them. If your going to evaluate fight mechanics, look to the version of a boss with all mechanics present (ie. Mythic Raids) and the amount of work and gearing to be able to enter that version of the raid tier.
Im not sure which Masteries should I unlock, I would like to first master Tyria masteries ... then explore PoF (i just got the mount and went back to Tyria) I also have HoT but would like to complete tyria first then PoF finally ill do HoT
