Now that GW2 is available on Steam a lot of new people are coming in (including me) and I've been looking for a f2p guide. Is this one still applicable?
@@Kyosika What if you're on a legacy expansionless account? I purchased the game around 10 years ago and never really played it because my system at the time couldn't really handle it. I've been getting back into the game now though and I don't have the free trial limitations, but I don't have any of the expansions either.
Nice man, so many veterans never give a helping hand to the free to play crowd, very nice, and kudos to you for going in a new account to get their experience and make a better guide for them :) solid stuff good Sir.
I started guild wars 2 about a week ago and i'm lvl 59 now, i can't start a new area until i completed the whole area :D sometimes it gets a bit on my nerves but i don't want to miss anything and often you explore cool things you wouldn't had otherwise and it's realy relaxing too ^^ i'm watching all of your videos at the moment to get prepared for the endgame and i'm going to buy the expensions at the end of the month, so thank you for sharing your knowledge with everyone here it helped me a lot even i'm not max lvl :D
Oh wow! That's great to hear :D Don't worry about missing out. At level 80 you can go ahead and craft legendary weapons. This requires you to complete all of the maps. So, eventually you will (re)visist all the zones again. It sounds like a lot but I was about to complete them all in about a week or so! :D
I'm totally the same. I started playing a few days ago and i always make sure i get the map completion for all zones i go through, it just feels nicer and you do get to have more fun exploring, plus i'm a masochist for the jumping puzzles haha.
Tha k you so much I just, downloaded this Sunday and started playing yesterday i don't have any friends to play with and ask tips about. I really needed this thanks so much
While watching the vid, I wrote down your tips in order for me to memorize them. Thought that sharing them wouldn't hurt anyone, so here they are, summarized I guess? Thanks for the vid! Levels 1-9: Easiest, Heart Vendors sell items that provide boons*, Dynamic Events give EXP & Karma* 10-25: Do the Story, move to 15-25 map 25-35: Don't do the dungeon yet 35 - 55: Crafting! Tailoring, Cooking (for lvls & exp, gold), Artificing (weapons), LV40 Story gives a boost, LVL 50 Story, Level till 55 in Sparkfly Fen 55-68: Level in Sparkfly Fen 55-65 zone & Mount Maelstrom 60-70 zone, Story at 60, Reminder to use crafting stations 68-80: Straits of Devastation then go to Malchor's Leap then Cursed Shore. Complete these 3 zones. Notes: Don't forget about the crafting stations and Story quests every 10 lvls LVL UP Fast by only doing Hearts, Dynamic Events. Take all the hero points in the meantime.
My friends and I started playing about a week ago, but we wanted diversity in our group so I made a new character. This hella helped out getting that new character up to level with everyone else, Thank youuuu!!
Some really good stuff here :) This is a must watch for any free to play character who still has not paid for either expansion. Like Kyo does say this will work for any player really, but the free to play has limits were as we who buy the expansions do not.
Very nice video, im trying to bring a group of friends get in to gw2 , so they're gonna start with free accs , and all these tips help me a lot:) , tyvm
I would also suggest utilizing your free dailies and rewards to the fullest. Like using the free leveling item later since it takes more experience the higher you are. You can also keep your heart rewards in the bottom right until you use a karma booster. There's allot of examples like this. Be ingenuitive.
I would recommend if you want to level faster, safer or play in harder zones then should buy cheap gear that is at or close to your current level from the trading post or from heart vendors which trade karma for gear rewards. One of the first mistakes I made playing was mistaking the color quality of gear, in GW2 blue gear is worse than green, so you should always buy green or yellow gear but don't spend all your money on overpriced stuff since levelling goes fast. Orange gear should be left till level 80 or to flex on alts once you are rich.
Good point! I think Green and Yellow (rare) should be good enough. If you have the money, you could get it from the Trading Post I didn't buy any gear whilst leveling!
Hey kyosika so if I download the free version does that mean I can play all the way up to lvl 80 or do I eventually have to buy the £26 version also say me and my fiends chose different races would we never be able to play together? Thanks great vid!
Hey Patrick, if you downloaded the free version you can level up to level 80 and play with your friends. You can also play all the races with your friends. However, you cannot play the Revenant profession or access the Maguuma Jungle and the Elonian Desert. These are expansion features! Also, check out this vid I made a while ago: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KYgynZ4vXf0.html
This is actually a great idea! I'll start writing something down! For now, I would say Staff, Greatsword and skills that provide Swiftness. My favorites for now are Necro, Guardian and Elementalist :)
Hihi, new player here, thanks for the great guide! :) Question, where do I get gathering tools and salvage kit from? I'm not seeing them from any merchants for some reason :(
so far my biggest issue with leveling is at lv 19 fighting lv 23 monsters lmao. I started going to other starter points n lving in those zones then returning back to lv 23 hearts after i got my level up. This guide is super helpful btw ty
@@Kyosika just doing the heart missions and completing the map. From random mob drop I get these mighty boxes. Loot from them can’t be broken down? Quest stuff I can, idk. Love the vids, hi ❤️🤣. Edit: useing the 10% salvage kits(vender kits I guess)
the fact there is no hardcore in this game leads me to making lots of F2P accounts :D I love the frehs start aspect and seeing how far I can push my achieves and completion before I inevitably bite the dust. I wonder how many email addresses Ill need before I reach lvl 80
I just started to play, but, instead of get the lvl cap of each map, then go to the next, I'm completing each one of them 100%. Is it alright to do this?
Yes! For sure! Nothing wrong with that. It might take you a tiny bit longer to level but you can get more achievements and progession towards a title the way you are doing it. Keep it up and enjoy!
Kyo any chance you eventually do a video on "endgame" and how shitty and awful that (mainly western) gaming mentality is for any game but for mmo's especially and how (thank god) Arena Net never gave into that thought process....... having no "endgame" but a handful of raids.....
An while on the mindset.... for anyone new to mmo's you will NEVER understand how Fracking AMAZING deposit all collectibles and or deposit all materials truly are....lol It is a true GODSEND
Dungeons don't take long to get a group. But you need to add it your self and write all welcome and it takes 5 min and especially in the catacombs. I would not avoid them i would make them since they give you gold, gear and tons of xp.
Thanks for mentioning it. I actually tried it during the video but to no success. I believe you though! So, I encourage people to give it a try but don't sit and wait for hours :)
@@Kyosika I agree there is not reason to wait for hours. Maybe you had bad luck. I know NA sometimes have issues with the lfg-tool when it comes to both dungeons and fractals whilst in EU it is a ever flow of groups. I don't know why it is like that though.
this is kinda late but what about trading house limitations? most of the gear sold is only unlockable via expansion. will these feature remain locked even if i reach lv 80?
It's crazy how there literally isn't any video on f2p progression and content. Like what's f2p endgame? I bet a video like that would do numbers but no one has made it for some reason
Check out my guide: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nuvheWiudt0.html. It has some features for expansions in there but these will be explicitly mentioned.
I was thinking of buying the expansion but not I kinda think it would be a great idea to wait for the 3rd expansion to drop because when it does I’m sure there will be a way to get all 3 at once
It will be a while (6+ months) before that releases. I doubt that they will bundle them together all at once. I think you can safely buy the expansions now and get up to speed with the mechanics and expansion features of the game. Once the expansion releases you can start there right away and you don't have to go through older content!
No, that particular shot you are talking about is probably from my main character. I'm probably trying to explain something that I don't have on my F2p account. What moment are you talking about?
See, ive been looking for an mmorpg and ive been thinking this or lord of the rings (i used to play lotro on my crappy laptop when i was a kid so i have a soft spot for it.) However this seems so good and ive had my eye on it for a couple years and i finally have a good gaming pc. So idk yet.
Don't worry friend! I played the game for 8 years now. I know where to go, I know where to look, I know all the skills. Don't worry about it :) You will get there eventually!
@@Kyosika I got to 80 eventually in like 65ish hours, and I have to say, I don't regret it. The first 0-80 leveling run was so much fun for me. Also thanks fo the great content!
Uhm, I don't have another RU-vid channel. I have been featured on another channel though. A guildie of mine does compilations of our raid nights. Do you still remember the channel's name?
@@Kyosika oh wow it has been 2 years and you have still been replying. Truly nice. I also dropped this game after lvl 25 because my friend got bored of it since there was limitations on f2p. 😞
Dungeons are the fastest way to level up. Just join any group in LFG and run the dungeon. One clear will increase your level by 1 or 2. I went from lvl 70 to 80 in 2 hours. Kept running the dungeon and it took me 8 runs to get last 10 levels. One clear gives you between 130k to 160k xp. Thats without any xp boost.
Man I am in an awkward in-between... I paid for the original game at release (so I'm not F2P) but stopped playing, and only recently got back into it (so I have no expansions). Jealous of your big ass inventory bags!
@@Kyosika sorry for late reply yeah I didnt left my dunge... house for a week now but its fine I'm lvl 50 now and just grinding for xp and finishing my story
@@Kyosika I'm definitly having fun and i think I am leveling faster because of some of the tips, but I just don't have enough materials in order to level up from crafting. Really great video though!
@@Kyosika Well IDK I watched ur video when I started the game it helped a lot but when i get 31 lvl I wasnt able to unlock elit specialization skills game asked me to buy expennsion.
