Your guides are the best - so many other build sites assume a level of knowledge that often isn't there for beginners. You are always my first stop for build guides!!
Friends always told me mesmer was the class I'd enjoy most, but I bounced off it a few times. This guide helped me get through the initial leveling hurdle and now I'm having a blast
I know these guides are a year old but as someone who is coming back to the game as a complete newb after not playing since launch they have been extremely helpful. I am still on the fence about what I want to main but currently leveling Rev, Necro and Mesmer as my whims take me =) Thanks again for the work
That's a great guide and I learned a lot from it! The only missing piece in my humble opinion is the rotational stuff. Weapon swap can be especially confusing for new players. I am curious about which skills should be prioritized over other ones and when to swap weapons to maximize efficiency.
I've been wanting to get into GW2 for soooo long but it's always seemed so daunting learning how everything works and how to catch up. I appreciate this in depth guide for leveling, it's given me some sort of focus on how to play while I work towards unlocking elite specs :)
Watched this guide a bit late but I thi8nk it was so well done and explained things step by step. I really enjoyed it and got a much better understanding of mesmer. Right now guardian is my main but I am building up a mesmer. Thank you for realizing that not everyone knows all the lingo and laying a good foundation that helps explain the class.
Thx Flamingo! Very thorough and wonderfully helpful guide, as always! Bringing a Mesmer up now for my 2nd, so this’ll make the grind a bit less “grind-y”.
I'm new to GW2 and this whole sort of games, Yet I've got to say that thanks to Flamingo's vids, I can now process a punch of ingame information that's been a real confusion and quite a bummer. Thanks buddy.
As a newbie on this game, i find those guides way more better than Wiki or anything else out there. The only 1 thing I really think it will be useful too is adding the Crafting for every class & gameplay. I literally have no idea which Crafting to pick as a Mesmer, the only thing i know is that it's really important since you can craft your legendary through it.
Honestly, the weapons are super cool but the least useful since weapon choices might change over time. The trinkets are usable no matter the profession and don't require crafting. If you really know you want to stick with one armor type, then armor would be second.
After watching your videos on couple of different characters I found the mesmer and that's definitely my character. I quit the game once, because I started with ele and it was waaay to difficult for me, than I started a few more chars and they were just not my playstyle I guess, but playing mesmer feels awesome. Thank you! GW2 should pay you for bringing more players to the game.
Know its old now, but this an incredible guide, along with all your others I've watched. I was about to give up playing after a few days thinking this game wasn't for me (too used to playing WoW years ago) I was really struggling with my thief and just button mashing my way through the first 15 levels and was compeltely overwhelmed with everything going on. This guide was so clear and conscice it's made me really excited to try mesmer now. Thanks.
Just started playing(haven't played since like 2013)and chose mesmer. Ngl. I equipped a GS. Threw me off that it had no close range abilities lol. I'm liking the class so far. Im loving the staff and GS combo.
I used your guides and created a Necromancer and ended up loving her. I got her to level 80 and finished my storyline. I am trying the Mesmer now and feel super squishy! I followed your directions to add some Vitality on my accessories and that is helping a bit, but still much tougher than the Necro was.
Very nice guide! I'm a little surprised you opt for dual swords instead of sword + focus for the melee build. The focus's 4 grants swiftness which is super helpful for running around zones, and the second 4 ability vacuums enemies to one area to make it easier to hit multiple targets with your sword skills. That said, I've never tried dual swords with core/leveling mesmer, and kind of want to try it now. Thanks for the guide!
This guide is amazing. I just started replaying this game (havent played since heart of thorns) and wanted to start fresh since im so lost on my necro & warrior. Thank you for the breakdown!
@@HeroicFlamingo Question bud, with the illusions, do you find they dont get into melee because they sit back firing their laser great sword? Seems like i detonate them but they're never around enemies :/ Also does the mesmer have any janky fun skills to help with jumping puzzles, or speed boosters for navigating the world? (im just level 25) Appreciate it again ! :)
always wanted to try mesmer because i thought its cool and with this video you made me fall in love with it,thanks bro and keep up with the great work .
Actually, being totally new to gw2 and loving it and absolutely loving my mesmer, my first, I pay close attention to every detail you let out, and would like to add that the illusionary wave (GS push) not only is for protection but also makes the surge (#1) damage more, because of the distance. I use it actively for that, in that I always step back a little myself to give a cpl more feet. Great video this, even third time watching it, and what a great game this is!
i would say i´m testing it today^^ curious how i can handle it xD @heroic flamingo: thx for your great guides. it helps me alot^^ so greetings from germany... thats a like xD
I personally like scepter and sword build gives two block skills and with amount of condition damage increasing with signets it wreaks havoc...although timing is must for block.
@@HeroicFlamingo lol no problem I'm just stoked you are doing these especially before the new expansion coming alot of new players going to benefit from these. Ik I'm having more fun with my necro playing with the axe instead of the staff.
I've been so pleased with the reception so far and I'm really glad that people are finding it useful! Thank you for giving me the nudge I needed to get on with it 😃
@@HeroicFlamingo that's fantastic and well ty for being so approachable and down to Earth. Only thing that might make these a tad better is to maybe pin the rotation and combo order for each build but I'm just surprised how good these are. Possibly guardian next ?
Finally, videos that that show, and tells us how and why they work. I wanted to rebuild my Mesmer, because it wasn't strong enough , so I did what you suggested, and wow, quite the little wrecking machine!! I did change one thing up . For my second weapon, I went with a staff. After practicing with it, I feel that the greatsword, and the staff is a whole lot of fun. I was wondering if you know why the other videos keep telling us don't bother with the runes and the sigils until you reach higher levels? Wouldn't it make sense to try, and use them at a lower level and play around with them? Granted they do cost some coin, but if your out there farming and salvaging , you're paying for them right there. Anyway I'm just babbling away .Awesome job on the videos, they truly help out a lot.
Great guide, tank you :) yeasterday i logged to my mesmer which was lv 46 and tryed scepter and pistol and it is so fun to play :) even solo'ed ettin champion in lornar's pass using scepter/pistol only even tho i had GS as second set. scepter/pistol may not be the fastest as you say but damn its fun
Thank you so much for this guide! I‘m very new to GW2 and couldn’t figure out a profession I wanted to go with since most of the traditional MMO classes didn’t really click with me in this game. Surprisingly the mesmer did and I had a lot of fun so far! I have one more question though, when is the right moment to swap weapons? Let’s say I open with the greatsword and use my main cooldowns, do I then immediately change to the second weapon to do the same again or should I stay in GS? I‘m used to having an actual rotation from other games and right now I‘m still a little confused on what to do. 😂
i like sword/pistol because i am little bad a timing the block and the pistol one is instant damage plus you can dizzee/interrupt enemies as a form of protection and you can feel a little like a fencer
This was a cool video, but I don't really understand the scepter/pistol combo because your 2-hander is already ranged. I've heard about a sword pistol combo. Have you tried that one at all? Honestly, that is one aspect of this game that I've always had a hard time managing...the whole weapon switch-a-roo and the use of those skills. I guess it takes a lot of practice to master. Anyways, thank you for the helpful tips.
As a newly returning player, are these still solid to use for new leveling in mid-2023? I think there was balancing scheduled for this month, but no clue if it impacts things like leveling guides.
I've just started playing again and I've been wanting to do Mesmer. I know this is more an expert class, but I want a challenge. Thank you for the video, mesmer is not a class i would play normally. Love the wings and wep skins you have equipped. What are they?
Really enjoyed the video Heroic Flamingo, because out of the professions I like most, Mesmer, Ranger, Guardian, Thief and Rev, the Mesmer is the one I get most excited playing and I am already level 17. I have to ask though, I can only really solo in the game, I don't think I am gonna be able to group as much or at all because of my RL but I need to know is the Mesmer class capable of tackling champs and harder content solo, like overland roaming champs and legendary enemies? Obviously I understand other professions are probably better equipped to handle such as Necro but this is pretty important aspect of the game for me. I tried Necro but its just not meshing with me, the reaper mechanic thing confuses me and I guess I need more basic time in the game itself to understand Necro. I know its weird because they say Mesmer is harder to understand but I find the Mesmer more fun hence why I guess I understand it better. Thanks!
Hey man, I'm glad you're enjoying the Mesmer 😃 Mesmer is really good for solo content but you may struggle with soloing champs as most players do with any class! The vast majority of the time, if there's an event with a champion, other players will show up pretty quickly and you can work together to kill it, even when you're not in a group ☺️ once you've mastered the illusions, you can be pretty tough to kill but some things are designed to be group content and you may struggle to solo that!
@@HeroicFlamingo Thank you then. Kinda glad it's designed that way then. Keep up the great work on your videos. Your vids are the main ones I watch because your detailed and thorough with everything.
I am sorry i wrote wrong comment about off hand sword.... My question was about build with 2 swords so i have first sword and i am trying to find second sword and i cant
You just have to equip another one handed sword in to your off hand slot 😃 you can get another sword off the trading post or from looting a monster or from a weapon merchant 😊
Hello buddy. I really wanna know something(sorry but my English). What is the armor that it shows when you open your equipment tab? I don't mean the majrorys shrouded armor. I mean the one that looks like devil. Thank you.
I know Im posting this kinda late, but would sword/torch work instead of dual sword? i just started playing, and chose to unlock the torch instead of greatsword at level 6, and I dont know how I would get another sword? thanks.
I would recommend moving to the sword when you can as the off hand sword phantasm is really powerful 😊 if you need another sword, buy a cheap one from the trading post or go to a weapon merchant in a city 😃 or tell me your level and in game name and I'll send you one!
Revenant can be really good but takes some time to master it! Guardian is always a good shout, check out the leveling guide I just uploaded for it 😃 if you remember to keep up your defensive abilities and buffs, you can solo almost anything 😃
Hey just starting gw2 I’m level 20 with a Mesmer using a staff mostly 😂 what’s the best way to find the best weapons for the level if I want to go to great sword and dual swords
I would recommend buying cheap weapons from the trading post or from a weapon vendor in a city 😃 should be pretty cheap and you'll notice the difference in your power straight away 😃
Yes it definitely can be overwhelming! Try some different things to see what you like but hopefully if you watch some of my videos, it might help make that decision a bit easier ☺️
Just started playing the game and a mesmer as well, I know you say grratsword is a must but how about running the duel sword and the scepter/gun as a pair? Or is the greatsword just that good lol?
You can certainly give it a go but I've spent a lot of time on the Mesmer and I've always found the Greatsword to be a must have 😃 however, rules are meant to be broken and this is just my opinion so give it a go ☺️
For open world content/leveling you are free to do whatever makes you feel more comfortable. Don't stress about it. Experiment and see what works best for you. It's the best way to discover all the game has to offer. ;)
Boons are positive effects that you can put on yourself and allies 😊 for example, "might" which increases damage or "regeneration" which gives you healing over time 😃
Your videos could be shortened by 70% if you'd stop rambeling 5min on >every< >single< >thing< I'm falling asleep trying to skip 90% of the video to get to the relevant information it's insane. Don't get me wrong - the information is super helpful and it helps quite a lot but pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase stop rambling.
