Very important to wear some kind of protection. A lady in Florida broke up a piggy fight and got a deep bite on a finger. She went to the hospital to have it taken care of, but, a few weeks later, it got infected and she ended up losing the finger. Edit: I tried to find a source on this story, but I can't. I don't remember where I saw it. In my search, I did find a story of a woman who lost her life to a pet rat bite.

Oh my gosh, Bengal! This was a great video to show how sensitive they can be,even after removing them and how important to show them they are safe and secure! I never realized how hard bonding boys were!

I have 3 boys all in separate cages. frankie a and george dont like each other but cypress likes both of them. So they have separate play times with cypress

I have ten males. I only have two pair that are bonded. Every time a new one comes in, I try for a bond. Obviously I don’t have much luck!

That equals to about 20% which is what my experience is. You can keep trying every few months and maybe they will mail out in the future or maybe they can have play dates for a short while a short while.

Oh my gosh, that even got my heart racing. Tbat was some oretty serious stuff. And even separated they are still teeth chattering like crazy. Fix is so blasted handsome. Thus was a good video.. it just shiws you need to ready in an instance. I hooe they are both okay. 😮😮😮😮😮

Help! My bonded boys (brothers) got on so well for the first year but now they seem to argue alot. They haven't had a fight but it's always one piggie chasing a way the other one which then starts teeth chattering to show his annoyed

Wow, Bangle was sir chatters a lot! My older boy is mister rumblepants, but they only chatter at my boyfriend and sometimes me when we are about to clean their cage lol

I have the same problems, but they're fosters. This morning they got into a big fight, and I'm not sure what to do about it. Like they launched at each other, and tussled for a good 10 seconds.😊

If you feel they cannot live together then you need to have them inside by side cages with a minimum of 8 square feet. It is not uncommon. There's only really a 20% chance any individual boys will get along. It is a numbers game and you've got to keep trying to find a better match. There's not much chance there will be a different result if you keep trying to bond the same pair of boys. Guinea pigs can be happy enough living side-by-side in their own space.

I'm thanking God that I've never heard any chattering like that! My smaller of the two boys will hump my larger boy, but its super fast. And Buckey doesn't fight back. I always fuss at Cedric and he backs off. They hang out together a lot of the time.. (I have a fiddle sticks house on one end of my diy 2x6, and the other end I tossed a flannel throw blanket over the top of the cage for about a 12 inch hangover. They go under thee blanket to hangout!

4:30 Especially after that you Will get bite, wait at least an HOUR after to pick-up!!! 30 mins after an altercation my boy bite while holding and calming. Doctor at urgent care used wound cleaning solution and 10 day pill medicine to treat. He never seen a guinea bite in all his years, very rare.

This is exactly what I'm nervous about with my current situation. I have 3 single boars and 1 intact female that had to be separated from the piggie she was surrendered with (one of the boars) and put on pregnancy watch. Now that leaves me in a situation where I'll have a single female I'll have to keep well away from the males for any chance at a bond happening until she either has or doesn't have babies before I can hopefully adopt her out, plus I'll have to figure out which 2 boys will bond the best and which will stay single until if/when the female has any boy babies. I hate that this young female may be pregnant, but if she is, I hope she has 1 boy and 1 girl so she and the 3rd male will have a friend (hopefully) once the babies are weaned. Wish me luck that everything will work out well for everyone involved. ❤️‍🔥🤘🏻

Wash them at the same time and put a little drop of teatree oil on their bums that's what i did when Milan and Timmy starts a fight it worked😊

Poor Bengal still chattering even when he got home! That was one of the quickest fails I've seen. 😟 I've recently taken in an elderly male guinea pig and I already have 2 boys who are coming up to a year old. He has sadly been on his own all his life and so, my instinct is to try to find him a cage mate immediately but I don't want to overwhelm him. At the moment, I have him in a cage at the side of the other 2, so they can see and 'talk' to each other but he seems very scared right now and is keeping to the other side of his cage away from his would-be friends (who are very excitable and eager to get to know him!). So, now I am wondering whether it might be best to let him settle in for a while before attempting to get him a friend or would it be preferable to do so sooner? Does anyone have any advice or thoughts? -Just in case someone suggests, I'm very hesitant to combine the cages because I'm scared to break the bond that my other 2 have, since they get on so well - apart from the occasional squabble! 🤣 Thanks

I have read numerous times that 99% it does not work to have three males together. I would keep your pair as-is. Also if the new boy is elderly and has been on his own for many years, it might be more stressful for him to have a cage mate, especially a dominant one. I have a 7-year old female who is constantly bullied by the alpha. I am thinking of putting her into a separate cage so that she can have a peaceful rest of her life.

@@susanlee7530 That's interesting - I hadn't even considered keeping him in the current set-up long term but you could be right that it might be more stressful to have a cage mate after being alone so many years. I suppose having the cages side by side will at least be better than having him totally isolated. I'll see how he gets on but I'll leave things as they are for the time being. He's only been with us 6 days, so he may be more interested in the other two in time - or he might be just a grumpy old man, set in his ways !😄 Thanks.

My boys both chase and bully but no evidence of biting. They will hang out with each other too but really don’t “snuggle”. Would you separate now?

Absolutely not. Guinea pigs do not need to snuggle to be caged mates. They just need to not be afraid of each other and not experience stress. If they lay down and are calm then they are okay together. Definitely watch some of my bonding videos to see what we consider good.

So sad that so many seem to just not be cut out for bonding with another male. I have heard that in the UK, pretty much all the rescues automatically neuter males so that they can live with females and be adopted more easily, but the price is much less over there.

They do this here in Holland as well. It costs under 100 dollars to neuter a piggy.....

Hey Scotty. Long time sub here looking for advice. Is it possible to bond 4 YOUNG males? I have a 20sqft cage with 4 very young pigs, two of them being very bonded. They seem to get a long, but sometimes I see one of the bonded bite one of the unbonded pigs. They never fully fight, or “tussle” like in these videos, and they never teeth chatter. Just mounting and chasing. The most the bonded pig will is snap at our youngest a bit. And that’s only when he intrudes on his space. Should I seperate some of them? One of them and get him a friend? I’m really looking for guidance so that I can make sure my piggies are getting the best care possible. A reply would be a life saver, but if not, nice video anyways. Much love 💚

i know this is a bit late along the line. i have 2 girls that have never shown aggression towards each other, some dominance behavior but no teeth chattering or anything beyond that. however, tonight while i was out with a friend, something happened and idk when or why. my mom didn’t hear a commotion or anything from their cage either. i came back home a little bit ago and noticed that she had a little gash on the lower part of her cheek and my mom and i are honestly pretty thrown off. we thought she got caught on something but there’s nothing to get caught on. they’re still running around with each other and not showing any skittish/aggressive behavior towards each other. idk what to do or think? should i keep my eye on them for now and see if anything occurs? this is the first time anything like this has happened.

Scotty würdest du Meerschweinchen trennen, bei denen eins das andere ständig von Platz zu Platz verjagt und das andere schon wegläuft und schreit wenn es den Partner sieht? Das immer weg gejagt wird hat viel abgenommen und mag sich nicht mehr anfassen lassen und ist sehr nervös. Vorher war es ein sehr entspanntes Tier. Sollte man sie dauerhaft trennen? Das Dominante soll aber bleiben. Mehr Tiere für eine Gruppe geht auch nicht. Es ist so da wo das eine liegt geht das andere hin, es folgen Zähne klappern, brummen dann jagen. Das andere rennt schreiend weg. Kurz darauf geht das am anderen Platz von vorne los. Es geht gar nicht um den Platz. So geht das mehrmals hintereinander am Tag. Nicht die ganze Zeit aber oft. Das andere schreit schon und flieht wenn der Troublemaker kommt 😢

Follow your heart and your gut and if you feel the piggies are too stressed out to be together you should separate them especially if they're losing lots of weight

My 2 male pigs act a bit like this, minus the fighting (but they do kick), when I put them in a large playpen together. When I put them both in their shared cage together, they're fine again. I wonder if this means they need to do play time separately..?

Please help. I have 4 beautiful girl pigs ❤ sorry for my english. I am from norway. They are two sister who are about 4 months and two sister who are about 6 months. The 4 month olds i had since they where 4 weeks. The 6 month olds i had for about a couple of months. They have a "cage" that is about 43 sqft. And about 7-9 hours a day they run freely in the living room and dining room. The problem is that the 6 monts old and one of the 4 months old is bulluing the last one. They contantly push here and scratch her and she is afraid and screams. It was good in the beginning but it is getting worse and worse and i am so sad for her. She now sleeps in a small cage beside me in the bed so she doesent feel alone. I think my husband feels left out 😂 what can i do? She wants to run after the others and that is fine. But as soon as the others wants the "space" she is in they are so mean to her.

Heyy I have 2 boys sometimes they fight but now I give them food separately and water too and I'm asking like they are single soo sometimes one jump on other for doing sex but coz they both are male so didn't work out.. my question is that IS THIS NECESSARY FOR THEM TO HAVE SEX IN THEIR LIFE OR ONCE IN A LIFE PLEASE TELL ME.. i have 2 girl absynians that will not get along with my other 7 american shorthair girls. So those 2 are in a cage together. they are siblings. my other 7 will run in the playpen together but one of them tries to mount my other ones in there. I think she wants to be the alpha.

Girls can be even more aggressive they just very rarely actually bite each other but it is extremely common for girls to have pecking order fights, except we do not separate them during these, we let them figure it out unless blood is drawn.
