I would imagine a tremendous amount. Which is funny cause there's a lot of haters on the internet. I hate Gibson (the company) but I love Slash and Les Paul.

@@TempoDrift1480 But Gibson is Les Paul and Les Paul is Gibson. That's like saying you hate Porsche but you love driving a 911. Masks no sense. If you hate Gibson why do you support them by buying and playing their guitars?

you know, listening to slash's music is very relazing in a way, makes you feel at ease with the voice. but watching slash himself...man, it's weird, its like holding on to an electric wire or something, not quite pleasurable, not quite annoying, but more... in-you-face.special man, special man.

I love Gibson Les Pauls and Seymour Duncan pickups, but I dropped Ernie Ball strings a long time ago. I actually used to go back and forth between Ernie Ball and GHS, but then I discovered Elixir Polyweb strings, and I never looked back. Those strings last forever and never corrode. Other brands wear out too quickly and break too often. The Elixirs not only last a very long time, but they have a smooth, slinky feel and produce such a massive tone.

(continued) I strongly recommend taking it in to a luthier to get your action set up for your strings because it will help to prevent neck damage. Also, once you get your guitar properly set up, you will notice a fairly large increase in how long your notes sustain, as well as how much more smoothly your guitar will play.
@chrisking6695

How much are you looking to spend? If you're looking to buy a new guitar, and are somewhat familiar with what to look for, what your playing styles are, what you would like to play, and things of that nature, I would thoroughly recommend broadening your horizons (so to say), and look at other options, aside from Epiphone.
@cookieeclipse
@cookieeclipse 14 лет назад
Slash is known for improvisation, so you'd never see him learning somone else's solo note for note. I supose he used the Mockingbird for the option of the floyd rose, not necessarily use it, but to just have the possibilty. Plus the Mockingbird would be easier for pinch harmonics and tapping as opposed to the Les Paul, so they could be other reasons why he didn't opt for the Les

(continued again) Even though, when you get the guitar (assuming you buy it new), it will not be set up as well as it could be. It is worth the price you will pay the luthier to set up your action. I recommend taking your guitar in to a luthier atleast once a year, for a check up on the action, as well as the electronics in your guitar. Sorry for the long posts.
@chrisking6695
@chrisking6695 2 года назад
Wrong again. A guitar setup is subjective. I've taken my guitars to Luthers and none of them can set my guitars up the way I want it unless I do it. Why? Because it's so personal. So you cannot say that a guitar has a specific setup that it has to be set up to in order for it to play right. It's all about how you play, what strings you use, what pick you use, are you a heavy picker, a riff guy, a lead guy, do you have a light touch etc.

@ebv1998 Nobody sells 1959 Les Pauls. An actual '59 in good condition is worth $750,000. Slash doesn't play one either. He has some earlier LP's but he deals alot with new prototypes made for him by Gibson. During live performances he uses mainly 2010 and 2011 AFD Les Pauls.

No. Gibsons & Epiphones come with stock Gibson strings. You can buy Ernie Ball strings at Guitar Center or your local music shop, and they retail for about 5 dollars. Also, make sure you get the correct size strings. Slash plays Ernie Ball 11-46 strings, but standard string size is 9-42, so you will need to have your guitar set-up for a larger string size, should you choose to play larger strings. If you have further questions, feel free to PM me.
@qwerty96347
@qwerty96347 14 лет назад
@DocBrewster Just personal preference, if you kept with heavier strings, your fingers would toughen up and they'd stop hurting. I usually use 9's, but 11's or even 12's are alright.

@TheAerosmith3 He used 13s most of the time, though at one point, he strung his guitar with 0.018s, he said 'It was crazy! But it made me play simpler' A friend of mine, named Jeff, met him, and Jeff said that when he went to shake Stevie's hand, Jeff said his shake was like a vise grip from the big strings. Although he did always play tuned a half step down............... I'm a fan.

@soothslayer21 It's not just to do with the top string. I could put an 8 on the top and then heavy gauge strings on the b g d a E strings and it would still be a heavy gauge set. Theres no set rule for whats a heavy set of strings and whats not. Power Slinkys start off with an 11 and end up with a 48. An 11 is heavy but a 48 is light for a bottom E string. There for 11-48 is a medium-ish gauge set.

Number one, is your guitar set up for 10s? If not, you definitely want to take it to a luthier or you could cause damage to the neck (later on down the road). Take it to the luthier, and have him set it up for your string size. If it's already set up for 10s, and you're looking to go to larger strings, you will want to take it to the luthier to get set up for whichever size you choose.
