Master of Puppets - Metallica
Here's one of the coolest things found on this prototype build - an unused chart for Master of Puppets! The audio on the build is trash, it literally sounds like it was downloaded from Napster of Limewire and tossed into the game GH3PC 2009 style. The chart feels like a 2009 GH3PC custom too, but in a good way.
My hunch is that this was put on the disc just for fun, a song for the employees to play around with. And perhaps maybe used a demo to pitch the idea of Guitar Hero Metallica??? Who knows.
The solo is hard as fuck at the end, those grace notes feel like straight RNG. I was never able to FC this on stream, but I got it within a few tries after getting off and working on some videos.

It's cool that Guitar Hero 3 has a chart for this song. Shame that the rumor about it being in Guitar Hero On Tour was false, though. Part of me would want to know what that chart would be like.

i honestly think that this song was used for testing purposes, ew that solo though but being honest, this month is WILD in the entire GH/RB history because we're getting Prototypes back to back started with the Debug executable for Rock Band 2 on Wii, followed after that was not one but FIVE different builds of Rock Band 3 (that includes the full version of Black Magic Woman and Feelin' Alright), and now an earlier build of Guitar Hero 3, what a time to be alive

To be honest, I like how they did the main verse riff more here than in GHM. Also that intro till is FUUUCKED with the RB and YO chords

Looks incredibly accurate tho. For a modern day chart an open note would be much better than a green note, because on a real guitar during the RB YO section you don't have to fret the note that got charted as the green note. This was GH3 though so they were kinda screwed there

What’s funny is whoever charted it named the bridge sections after bridge collapse incidents (“Tacoma Narrows Bridge, 1940” and “San Francisco Bay Bridge, 1989” respectively)

I always thought it didn't make sense. If they were gonna put titles like that on the sections (I know all GH games have silly/cool section names), I feel like the harmony solo should have been called "Euphoria Solo" because that's pretty much an audio representation of the Euphoria part of a high.

My guess is this *was* planned for release, but they replaced it with One because the devs didn't have enough time to figure out ho/po chords. I definitely think we should've gotten this instead, it's way better imo

On Acai's exploration of the GH3 Beta, a developer commented that Master of Puppets wasn't part of the pitch for GH:M, but was part of the early charting process for DLC or was cut from an earlier set list. They couldn't remember which it was as it had been so long.

I love how the GH3 chart is ironically more accurate with the chord slides in the songs, if only HOPO chords existed back in 2007. And yep, it sure is a GH3 chart with those 3 note chords

totally scorehero circa 08-10. Before GH3PC came out, we really had like less than 200 charts and most 80% were beyond trash. So this is that era after that but before we got real good authors. I believe GH3PC+ and CH really took charting to a new level.

Oh yeah, our favorite GH3 prototype song named (in a wrong way of course) "The Devil Went Down to Georgia"... that blew my mind if you ask me that they had the name of the Lou's Guitar Battle but with Master of Puppets, yeah... I don't think they didn't have to work too much on the Guitar chart for the World Tour version of Guitar Hero Metallica

With no HOPO chords in GH3, it’s no wonder this was shelved for a later game. You’d be lucky not to get your strings crossed, or you’ll feel like a real dummy.

got my hands on the beta and tried my hardest to boot up the song but the game keeps crashing if i rename the files to the name of another song. how were you able to load this? is there a patch or something?

Me too, but not in this build. There aren't different levels of hyperspeed, it's either on or off. When it's on, it's faster than Hyperspeed 5 from the final build.
