Most, if not all songs in GH games are made artificially more difficult. It's part of the reason why there was a decent amount of players who noticed and jumped ship to RockBand, because they used far more accurate note tracks for those games.
@@vahlok1426 wym raining blood has the same intro as rockband 😂 unless you mean the last solo (it's the best part) but if that's the reason people jumped to rockband idk what to say.
@@chris9242 Playing guitar hero and an actual guitar aren't even comparable, they are two completely different things. Even Herman Li himself can't play ttfaf on GH at all
Quick tip regarding the Lou fight on Expert: After your first powerup, Lou gets a huge stream of green notes. If you pulled Whammy from your first powerup, and use it here, you will knock him out with only one powerup, ending the song long before it gets really hard. You can also do this with Broken String if you hit his green, which is a 1 in 5 chance. If you really are struggling, restart the fight until you both get Whammy and he doesn't get something that makes it borderline impossible for you to get whammy, and you can basically skip the fight.
I remember shitting bricks when I got the “meet your maker” achievement lol “beat one of the creators of GH3 at their own game online” Good times, simple times 💜
Oh I hate those 'beat the developers' achievements when put in games, because you know at some point it will be impossible to get those achievs when the hype for the game dissipates.
Man I loved the guitar battles in the game, that's just one thing games like clone hero couldn't ever beat. I feel like if they just released a modern day guitar hero for the PC, added in all the nostalgia bait characters, released some instruments and let modders do the work that copyright wouldn't let them do then that would be all it'd take to make an amazing timeless classic.
I dream of a proper GH reboot but i'm not sure it's ever going to happen :( Haven't given clone hero a go before, slowly working through the series achievements on xbox only
@@JForJackPlaysIf they had guitar battles on Clone Hero it would be the goat. Deffo worth a play since it's technically the best version of any guitar hero game
That's a matter of personal preference, I'm glad Clone Hero exists, because without it GHWTDE would not have happened, but in many ways it's geared toward the kind of people doing insane FCs of meme charts who prefer the looser timing window reminiscent of GH3 and don't mind the barebones presentation compared to the GH/RB series. As far as just having a huge collection from each GH/RB game and playing casually on Expert (not usually looking for FCs just maybe five-starring everything) I still think GHWTDE is preferable, but more for entertainment reasons than technical ones. @@VoltiXHD2
If they remade guitar hero, it’s have a battle pass (somehow), god knows how many cosmetics, some probably for sale with real money, and their new guitars/instruments would be SUCH ass.
I feel like Vicarious Visions would have done an incredible Guitar hero remake, considering they worked on the DS games, and the Wii ports, which often had higher ratings than the 360/PS3 versions if I remember correctly. Sadly, Activision merged VV with Blizzard and its probably one of the worst moves in gaming history imo
This is probably one of my all time favourite games. Funnily enough I enjoyed playing with the controller, found it a lot easier than the guitar & can remember getting the achievement legit.
I was the same, one metallica took the longest to beat, but then i actually beat the boss first time after. Ive no idea why one was so difficult for me Could play expert pretty well most songs, never got past holiday in cambodia though story mode
I have a glassed entertainment system behind me which I could use to play left-handedly lol. But I have done that back in the day. Either that or I would lay on my back in my bed and play it with my head upside down, looking at the screen and watch as the notes "scroll up" lol
Good on you, Jack. I've gotten into your channel recently, and you've showed me some games (notably the Guitar Hero franchise), that I've avoided over the years. I'm happy you got this, I can respect the dedication (and in some cases the "what the hell am I doing with myself right now") for this. I've always loved achievements, and as I grow older my urge to collect the lil things gets stronger. Stay strong man, keep on keeping on, and myself and a ton of other folks will gladly follow you along for the ride, no matter how long it may be.
Ah those are some very kind words! Thank you, means a lot. I have many more planned and will keep grinding away. and I'm 100% with you on the urge to collect
Just found your videos and it's so nice to see these older Xbox games covered, literally bringing back so many childhood memories. Such well made and relaxing content- keep it up dude, you'll easy hit six figure subscribers in no time.
Fantastic video! You caught me off guard a few times by knowing some of the old tricks. When you were doing left flip, I was thinking "Just use a mirror", seconds later out comes the mirror lol. Also, glad you knew about All Nightmare Long. Didn't get the 750k until that track pack came out too lol. Can't wait to see the next part. Also, makes me want to go back and finish cleaning up achievements for GH3.
I remember playing through this game on the Wii 15 years ago, then when I got an Xbox 360 and got into achievement hunting, I got stressed out just looking at this achievement list. Thanks for the nostalgia trip! You are seriously impressive at this game, teenager me is in awe.
Cannot wait until the co-op video! Loved this so much! I have so many great memories playing this game back in the day, and still play today through Clone Hero!
Iv been rinsing your content since I found your channel recently. Really enjoy your videos man. You've hit a perfect little niche in my brain. Commentary, challenge and edits are great.
I've revisted GH3 this year and gotten the gold 20 songs and 5 star all songs on expert. I wish I had bought the music packs and participated in the multiplayer when it was active in 2012. The only multiplayer experience was through GH5 and WOR in 2009-2010 on the Wii. Never had the privilege to play Guitar Hero multiplayer on 360. This was a great video, Jack. Looking forward to watching the co-op portion of this journey.
It was a good time - but it was frustrating on GH3 Online that you could just win by playing any song on easy. You could play separate difficulties of your choice and lose to worse players
What an awesome video, congrats Jack! I was contemplating going back and making an achievement video for a GH game too, I used to adore these games back in the day. I 5 starred all of GH3 expert back in 2010 but sadly never found anyone relatively close to Devon, England to 5 star expert co-op so this sits incomplete on my tag to this day, I'll be super jealous once you mop it up!
@@EffigyXBL I’m in north Devon, Tavistock actually. I can easily do expert but have been longing to do the co-op expert achievements for over 10 years! If you wanna get this done we can definitely arrange something if you want?
I was 13/14 when this came out, and I played this non-stop. I could clear any song on expert, and was so proud to have scored 86% on Through the Fire and Flames. All that being said, I COULD NOT beat the final boss battle. That was just too much, and I have lots of respect to anyone who can beat him on expert
Use the first power-up as the Whammy on Lou’s set of alt-strumming green notes and you can end the battle immediately to win without struggling. Trust me, try that and you’ll beat the Expert difficulty.
I'm one of those nerds that have this 100%. Infact I have all the GH and rockband games 100% completed achievement wise. By far my fav games over the years. These days I play more drums than guitar.
That is crazy. Some of the achievements that I haven't managed yet are the 575k creeping death on GHM & 5* all songs on GHVH. Maybe one day I'll get back to them!
@JForJackPlays I think GHVH is one of the toughest completions out of both RB and GH. GH2 was tricky for the local 2nd player you needed to be very good also. Thanks for the vid as well bro I really enjoyed the trip down memory lane.
oh shit, excited to see a new vid from you! the guitar was so hard for me to play for some reason, so i played with the regular controller instead and ended up loving it lmfao.
Sends me back to when I was forced to learn how to play on Console Controller because the guitar was for my brother lmao. Ended up getting good enough to even 5 start TTFATF by the end of many years of practice. I still play on it from time to time just for fun.
To answer your question about playing expert on the standard controller. You need to change your grip to hold the controller in your left hand and twitch hit the buttons with your right. It's not clean by any means but it works with some practice.
I, for some reason, learnt guitar hero on lefty flip. And a few years back, before I could play clone hero properly, I downloaded something called youtube flipper that let you mirror the videos and just loaded up youtube playthroughs of guitar hero songs and played to them. Good times.
Man, it really sucks that RU-vid doesn't let you play the music. I really wish I could still play this. I still have aps3 and guitar and the games, all I'm missing is the friggin dongle, this video really made me wanna pick it back up
Really good video. Brings me back to the days when TTFAF was the pinnacle of achievement, nowadays we have FCs on grade 20 songs which is something I'm not even close to doing.
I really need to earn that 750k points achievement at some point as well. Super grats on this achievement; certainly a dedicated skill is required to complete these achievements and you certainly have that.
Another great video! GH3 is definitely one of the hardest games to get 1000G on. I played the game religiously back when it came out and only got to about the 800 mark (helped by a few glitches to unlock the lefty and controller achievements). I was good but a friend of mine was a real GH wizard and we even had some co-op high scores in the top 10 of the global rankings for a few songs - Me playing bass, of course!
@@JForJackPlays Was missing a lot of the ranked online and the 5-starring every song on co-op achievements. You could only get the co-op one through local play and this was an online friend who I didn't know IRL.
This is AMAZING! I've been playing GH3 since it first came out, but I never got to use the actual guitar. I always played with the console controller. Never beat TTFAF on Expert, congrats.
I haven't done it yet but getting all achievements is one of my goals for guitar hero at the moment. If you do want to play more, admittedly easier guitar hero, there's a free PC clone with thousands of custom songs that are very easy to download and play
I always felt a little bad for doing all the bugs to get a lot of the achievements when I was younger lol. I think now I'm only missing the 750k and co-op score/streak achievements. My friends and I could play expert and 5 star everything but not good enough for the 2000 streak. I had about 630k on TTFAF but haven't tried it since getting better with clone hero as an adult. Great vid subscribed :D
didnt have dlc songs so had to do some tricky songs for the 20 golds stars one. i was so elated when i tried "The Metal" to see if it was even plausible and FC'd it on my first try. never even hoped to five star all songs (well raining blood mainly) on expert tho hehe
Takes me back. I didn’t have any of the DLC, other than the free ones, so I could only grind Through the Fire and Flames for the 750k achievement. I have no idea how many times I played the song or even for how long but I hit the 740s about 5 or 6 times before I finally reached the mark. I ended up with a score of 812k. Funny how it goes sometimes. I never came close to that score again.
You know you played too much GH3 when you can identify the songs just from looking at the notes you have to play with no sound. I remember being TRAUMATIZED trying to do Raining Blood %100 on expert, all the triplets really had their way with me.
Dude this is just awesome to see! As a Clone hero player i really wanna point out how difficult playing GH3 on console is compared to playing Clone Hero and you would definitely "look" better and feel like you ARE better if you tested your skills out in that game :) Not being capped on framerate along with all the other QoL changes truly makes for a more spammy experience :b With that said, keep it up champ. Easy like+sub
I still tell people to this day that ive got the gold star 20 expert songs and 5 star all expert songs. Raining blood is the hardest 5 star by a long shot, needs around 210k to get it. Best guitar hero ever by far. Great video
On Guitar Hero 2, I did a lot of playing with a controller. My favorite ones to play were Six by All That Remains and The Light That Blinds by Shadows Fall.
for doing any lefty flip achievement I would always flip over the top of my bunk bed and play the game upside down. Did a number on my head but I was too dumb to think of the mirror trick
This video was fire (also I just bought that same guitar to play this game and wasn’t quite sure if it would work bc it wasn’t specifically for gh3 but this helped)
Having played more of the newer games and being used to mono-colour notes, i had to turn b&w mode on from my tv to not get overwhelmed by the notes in TTFAF, but after doing that it was pretty easy to pass it
To combat your overheating issue, might be worth doing some maintenance on the console. open it up and clean out any dust, and look at redoing any thermal paste/thermal pads on the system if they haven't been changed before (or in a few years at least). Another way to combat the over heating issue that's less invasive, point a fan at the console, even a small usb powered desk fan pointed at it will be enough to help - same principle as using a cooling plate for a laptop :)
