It's better that he goes into all the detail because so often too many people skip it you'll probably be a better teacher than a guitar player great job little brother keep up the fine work
Nice lesson. But im always surprised when guitar tutorials start by breaking things down. Give us the big picture first. Play the piece. Then break it down!
@@danielbyrdmusic8824 Thank you! Im 66. A retired teacher. Ive been playing since i was 15. If you play the first verse. It would hook guys like me. Who dont need to have a b7 chord outlined. I rarely finish step by step guitar tutorials. I liked something in your playing, personality and teaching style. Dont stop!! But please give us an overview! Enjoy the day.
@@danielbyrdmusic8824 I think it’s great that you took that as a constructive suggestion, rather than become defensive as many RU-vid tutors do. His suggestion is a good one, and I am pleased that you took it that way.
I appreciate your lesson very much. One thing I noticed is that the vocal line is a 12 bar blues with a “quick change”. The solo is actually a straight up 12 bar blues (no quick change). This tripped me up when I started working on the solo.
Great video. One comment. When showing the solos, it helps if you could always map the notes in relation to the pentatonic scale, the chord notes or other frame of reference. It really helps to make sense of the solos. Just a thought.
Typically, I play this one mostly with a pick, but for the solo and some parts I switch to fingerpicking. At gigs I’ve played it just straight fingerpicking but when I do that I usually play it differently than I do here, mainly without the shuffle.
That is certainly an approach; however, that’s not what I aim to do with the lessons. My aim is to provide a resource to anyone who wants a breakdown of these songs. That usually, particularly with blues, takes longer than 5 minutes to run through. I also do not want to assume anyone’s ability or styles of learning. If you resonate with watching someone play a 5 minute demonstration of a piece and then learning that way, that is perfectly fine. That is not the intention of these lesson videos.
