I have the same guitar, same everything, also a ‘61. My parents bought it for me new in about ‘64. Great guitar, but with any volume, it feeds back like a banshee.

Old P-90s do that, even in solid-body guitars. Getting them re-potted with fresh wax helps some, but with a full-hollow instrument like a 330 or Epi Casino, there's no complete cure.

@@anthonyc1883 Yes, Episode 51 was a '68 that had the long-neck 19 fret neck joint. According to the video, that was the first year with the longer neck joint.

Hey Mark, never miss a show, I can't get enough of it, I'm 61, and went through high school in Las Vegas from 72-75, what a great time to be fan of the best Rock N Roll that will unfortunately never be rivaled, but I have a favor to ask, for Flat Top Friday would you please play some greats like (Christopher Robin) from Loggins and Messina, I'll Be Damned, a Vince Gill song that he played while still with Poco, and a personal favorite of mine, Dust In The Wind; by of course Kansas, I know alot of people will be like me and save the video to listen to again and again. I wonder if the amp being hand wired has anything to do with it, but that amp must be biased hot because I have to turn up my Deluxe Reverb to around 5 or 6 to get that kind of drive.

I luv the look and I really luv P90's , but something about this guitar sounds off , the low end sounds good but the high end is brittle and harsh , perhaps rolling the tone off would help. Anyway great set as always Mark , and thanks Jen , GOTD is always a highlight of my day.

I still have my fine playing Fender Squier bought from a neighbor for $50. I bought a $300 Epi Les Paul Limited Edition 56 Goldtop reissue, Made in Korea 2009. (P-90's). Now that I can play, to the point of being able to learn a song and play it, after 5000 practice sessions, lol, WTF? I am an ABB fan FIRST. Then typical Blues and Rock classic for a 46 yr old. Tom Petty, Led Z, Aerosmith, Metallica, BLUES FIRST THOUGH. What F ing guitar is next? I have to be honest... I seem to prefer strats. I have a replaced right hip and fixed left one and that 10 lber gets a bit ornery. I want Humbuckers on a Gibson Les Paul but I am not ready for a $3000 guitar and the STRATS are fing confusing the F out of me. What is THE strat I should be looking at? Don't say, oh well it depends. Seriously. There is the Standard, Special, Professional, Performer, Texas Specials, Greasebuckets, WTFs? Why are standards the same price as player series? What makes the $1400 ones better/different than at $600 standard? I should wait but that itch is growing.

That is what ceramic speakers do those 64 hw reissues come stock with a ceramic Jensen every ceramic magnet speaker I've ever played or heard girggles and gets really muddy when pushed or overdriven especially when broken in. if that amp had an alnico speaker we wouldn't be having this conversation I think it's kind of lame that fender would put such an average speaker in such an expensive amp Underneath what the speaker is covering up is a really nice sounding amplifier

Guitar ocd There are good sounds in the amp, with good-sounding guitars. That Dano, the Thinline, the Bigsby Tele all sounded good. That guitar sounds like it brushed its teeth with Preparation H.

Weeaboo Trashski If a guitar sounds like pure crap, don’t tell me how everyone loves the model and it’s “highly kept secret, ... killer guitars.” I realize it’s all about money with these guys, but that is one lousy sounding guitar and if I couldn’t sell it I wouldn’t take it for free. What did they do to the P90’s? I never heard such terrible P90’s. Sorry, but Mark knows it stinks and gives it nothing but superlatives.
