I think you did the switches all wrong Lemmo, the parking the 3 way in the middle turns off the pickup, both up or down and it’s both pickups together, if you have it one up and one down, it’s phase reversed. If you can get under the pick guard you’ll see the switch has 8 lugs wired up with an X across the outer 4 lugs.

The Mustang was the top of the student line, a step up from the Duosonic, which was a step up from the Musicmaster. Many moons ago, in the 1980’s, I had the pleasure of owning a near mint 1966 Daphne blue Mustang Bass. I probably should have kept it, really sweet axe. 😁👍

The strings aren't properly strung through the bridge tailpiece. They're supposed to be string through the front, going underneath the bar and over the bridge. Sort of like an inverse Bigsby. Also, this guitar is the 22.5 inch scale, but people already mentioned that in the comments.

A Mustang! Cool guitars! I played one some of the time in the first decent band I got to play in. It wasn’t mine; it belonged to our other guitar player. I had a Vox Phantom 12-string that sounded fine on the folk-rock tunes, and even stuff like Light My Fire, but on bluesier stuff Norbert and I would swap guitars-he’d play my 12-string and I’d play his Mustang, as I didn’t have a decent 6-string. I’d use the out-of-phase setting and that Mustang would bite like a big dog. I was 17, and my hands were still growing, so playing that little neck on the Mustang took some getting used to, but it was a cool little guitar. Eventually I got rid of the 12 and got a Gibson SG Standard.

My first good guitar was a 65 Mustang (in red) and I used it in my first garage band "Lincoln and the Continentals" back in 1965. Used to break strings due to the trem design, and wound up building a replacement semi-hollow body "Mosrite" style body. It looked and played great on gigs through high school and college. Wound up trading it for a new hollow body Ventura jazz guitar.
@Opry99er
@Opry99er 4 года назад
Whoever strung up that guitar screwed up. Even if he had a vibrato arm, he wouldn't have been able to use it. You have to go through the front of the tailpiece bar, then wrap the strings under the bar and up to the bridge saddles. The way it is now, you couldn't use the vibrato.

@russellparratt9859
@russellparratt9859 4 года назад
@@renzosalazar4942 I didn't think I would have to explain this, but... Strats and Teles have lots of resonance and natural sustain, whereas I find with the Mustang that the sound just dies quickly. Sure, it's easy for players with small hands, and works fine as a rhythm instrument, but it really is limited in what you can do with it. Plus, the out-of-phase pickup selection sounds like a very limited effect only, and not to be taken seriously. On the other hand, Strats and Teles are famous for their versatility, and can be used in just about any genre that calls for electric guitar.
@russellparratt9859
