Guitar Store Stereotypes 

On this episode of the #GuitarStoreTour I’m in a lovely location in Iowa called Lidgett Music, and there are a lot of people who look just like me doing stereotypical things of guitar store patrons. From inappropriate reaches for expensive guitars to that one dude who just keeps playing blues licks, these guitar store customer profiles will certainly be people you’ve encountered. Also, newsflash: if you can’t find the guy who’s got way too much volume within the first 5 minutes, you are the guy with way too much volume. I once ran into a weird tremolo guy at a guitar store. I asked what he was playing, and he said, "What does it even mean to 'play' something?" Then he gave me a Crunch bar. It expired in 1992.

I’m “the one who really wishes there was a guitar store near him” Edit: Bruh even after a year this comment still gets a fair bit of recognition lol. But anyway thank you all for the likes, it's nice to see people relating to others and sharing their story.

I'm more of a "Looks at all the guitars but doesn't ever ask cuz social anxiety and no money" kinda guy

You forgot one, the guy who sits around waiting for other players to start playing so he/she can start ripping a solo over whatever they are playing

What about the "leave me alone guy" who just wants to shop without being bothered constantly by employees.

He basically roasted every single lo-fi artist to exist

Once in a while I got into a guitar store, a delivery man came in, after he had done with his job there he politely asked someone who was playing the guitar with the effects to lend that guitar, and then he blasted the store with Eddie Van Halen Eruption with a clean Legato trechnique and flawless tapping. What a moment!

Because of these videos I felt safe going to my local guitar center, I tried guitars and I bought a super nice mahogany flying V Jackson. Also. I'm the Drop D dude, though that's because a lot of Japanese rock uses that tuning.

Funny story I was at a guitar store and there was this cool line 6 amp. I didn’t know how those amps worked since it was all digital and crap. So for some reason the amp wouldn’t work and then all of a sudden I play a note and bam the amp starts working and the note rings out at full volume. So embarrassing 😭 😢 😢

Im the guy that just picks whichever guitar looks nice at a reasonable price and buys it without playing it first because i only know easy songs and i suck.

Does anyone here go into a guitar store, play the guitars, then just leave? Sometimes I buy a pick or a new set of strings, but most of the time I walk out. I wonder if the employees hate that sort of stuff. Oh yeah, I'm the bluesman! I usually mess around using basically the pentoanic minor and that's basically it.

I m the one fascinated by the beauty and the tune of every guitar, able to stare at them for hours, wanting to try them all out, but to shy to actually try more thab two or three.

The metal guy looks like he's having the most fun.

I'm the guy who walks in and plays the pumped up kicks opening line on each and every guitar

I’m the one who checks their entire inventory and takes screenshots before getting there so I do minimal talking and interacting with the employees lol

PMSL at the "Immediately drop D tune" mu cousin works in a guitar store and he said those guys immediately qualify for zero discount

Pro tip: you should try alternate tunings if you're seriously thinking about buying a guitar to see if you like the tuners & how the guitar reacts. And yes I'm the constantly tuning guy lol

Man. I'm discovering your channel and it's AWESOME.

Quite some time ago, I was the hand him the expensive artist signature model. I've always played a mix of chords, riffs and runs on different settings of the guitar and amp. Way more important to get a feel for a guitar, and learn it's character than to rip out some crazy stuff, unless you're just there playing around, then rip away!

I'm the G, D, C guy, except when my social anxiety keeps me from doing anything but nervously and quietly strumming the G chord a few times before nodding my head like I got a good idea of how the guitar is from that.

DUDE. You just made my day hilariously sadder. My girlfriend went shopping, so I got bored and sat at a small local guitar shop and started playing some squiers to kill time... First, I fiddled some generic blues licks. Then, I liked the clean tone, so I started playing Little Wing (seriously, this is where you got me). After that I thought maybe it could do well on a heavier channel, so I jammed couple of Metallica's riffs and decided to drop the lower E to D, which in turn led me to dropping everything half step, which took forever to tune correctly. HOW ON EARTH AM I AN AMALGAM OF MOST OF THESE STEREOTYPES??? WHERE AM I GOING WITH MY LIFE?
