Dang. I've already got a couple of your Udemy courses that I've procrastinated completing for a couple of years, but I'm not sure I can pass on this bargain. 😅 Thanks for being awesome, brother. 🤘🏻😎💥
This is one of those songs that brings tears to my eyes. In 07 I left my new wife and unborn child behind to go to Iraq. Of course I came ok but for some reason this song really moves me.
One of the worst experiences I've ever had was meeting my buddies wife, and child he never got to meet, coming home from Afghanistan. I'd go to war 10 more times to not experience that.
@@BillCooperOK we saw bruce and kelly at gruene hall . the place was packed but just outside was an old oak tree that was full of christmas lights. perfect romantic moment
I've been an avid watcher of this channel for a couple months now. I heard you mention your website for like the 100th time and thought to myself "I should try this out." Then you mentioned this 40% code so I had to do it. New Lifetime Member excited to take my guitar journey to the next level. Thank so much Michael, I appreciate you
Easily my favorite tune that the Dixie Chicks (Now "The Chicks") did (I will check out Bruce Robison's version, thank you @Blake Butler!) This guy crushes it. His voice is super pure. Thanks for your insights on this tune, Michael! As always.
Michael, could not agree with you more. This song was very well done. A good musician will have control of the instrument knowing when to hold back, when to let loose. The band does it so well with this song, from the instruments(a great blend, very well played) with the vocals blending together beautifully. Drop D is a great tuning as well! Just gives it a great sound to the song. The brief pause in there as well, I think, just gives it a little more depth with letting the words and vocals some room! Just awesome overall! ✌️
Everyone has their favorite, but my favorite is the version that is on Aaron Lewis’s album. He doesn’t sing it, a female does (I forget her name) but it’s on his album. I like it more than the chicks version.
Love, love, love this! You're hitting all my recent music tastes with your recent videos. First Manchester Orchestra and then this? I've been obsessed with CoJo for like 6 years now. My brother and I saw him at the sold-out opening night of Rodeo Houston this year! What an experience, and easily one of the best live performers I've ever seen!
@@brandonmontgomery5470 hell yeah man! Been listening to MO since Like a Virgin Losing a Child when I saw them on Brand New’s Devil and God tour in 2006-2007, and CoJo since Cowboy Like Me. I’m up in Wisconsin, so unfortunately I’m lucky if either make it up here once a year. Not a lot of people up here who dig both either, haha!
You need to react to ‘Away From the Mire’ live at Austin City Limits. It is easily one of the best guitar performances on RU-vid. Billy strings is absolutely amazing on it
Look up Bruce Robison. He also has a studio down in Austin called The Next Waltz. Mostly Texas and Oklahoma singer songwriter do one off stuff with him. Also, he has a RU-vid channel as well called The Next Waltz, so check it out…you’ll be glad you did!
My question is you break down the technical aspects, when Bruce wrote it, I wonder what technical aspect he was thinking, or was he just playing and feeling?
If you or any of your followers are into acapella, Home Free does an excellent cover of this song. They reproduce all the nuances vocally, and their beatboxer is famous for his "drumming."
Would love to see Sharecropper live by Stoney larue, he did a cover of that Dan seals song you did the other day and that’s how I come to know ab it. Great band. Very professional and they love their job
Cody’s voice sort of reminds me of Lee Greenwood in how relaxed his tone is. There are obvious differences but I kind of like this style. I also hear a little Lee Brice here!
Michael… what is my best option for advancing in guitar? I took some lessons in college but it was all just very basic stuff… I’m just at a point now of playing the standard basic chords but I’m wanting to further it and learn more.. it just seems there’s so so much to have to learn and understand I’m a bit confused as to what my next steps should be? People always say to watch RU-vid vids but I get so lost on them haha. Any feedback from anyone would be great!
Bruce Robison will always me my guy. I like Cody Johnson, but Bruce and Charlie are better. Charlie was a kickass concert. Review "Sunset Boulevard" by Charlie
Hey man Guthrie and Paul Gilbert covering cheap sunglasses is bonkers… also Guthrie’s solo in regret #9 is a masterpiece… just RU-vid the guy and beware the guy is not human
Can’t stand Cody Johnson, attitude and ungrateful to his fans. His band is awesome though! Jody Dale his fiddle player is an awesome guy and hell of a musician!
I used to be a stage hand and of the hundreds of performers that I helped set up and break down for, Cody Johnson was the only one that ever helped. I found him to be more sincere and genuine than most.
@@rowdybergstrom1068 I did security for a few festivals here in Texas for him. Watched him ignore fans and act like he was their biggest thing since sliced bread. Rest of his band was awesome, he was a pompous ass. Maybe he was having a few bad days but it was enough for me to not listen to him anymore.
Can’t stand Cody Johnson, attitude and ungrateful to his fans. His band is awesome though! Jody Dale his fiddle player is an awesome guy and he’ll of a musician!
