Brian May has his favourite switch settings and everyone seems to copy those to get the queen sound. But those switches are even more versatile than that but you don't see many people experimenting with them to create new sounds. it is a very versatile system that is often under used
quite, everyone plays it as brian and do not even use the tone! People always think of the sounds of the pauls or strat as references but the special red on an amp other than vox and treble booster also gets into funk, blues and country with its own color when using other pickup position than brian may do not use ! Interesting thing ..bad pickup combinations with a vox ac30 and treble booster are excellent on a fender or marshall! Depending on the amp the position of the microphones sound very differently!
Dave is such a great player. I'd love to see an episode where you guys bring out some Marshalls and humbucker/Floyd Rose guitars so Dave can do the hard rock/metal thing. Love the show!!
You guys rock ! :) One of my first guitars features a phase switch and a coil split: very versatile... Where can one get the backing tracks you are playing on ? Particularly the last one/Little Wing ? Keep on letting those vids come ! Cheers guys \m/
Hi, thanks for the nice comment! The backing tracks are available from karaoke-version, a company in France that actually hires musicians to come in and record songs, and then once you buy a particular song, you can download it over and over in different customized versions. You can mute any of the instruments, adjust their levels, etc, then download an MP3. Pretty cool, and the catalog is deep (like, more than 180 of the Beatles' songs).
ToneShapers Oh: I know the site ! They're pretty cool :) This Maz18 of yours sounds great (so does the Fender too). Get a good vocal mike to balance your comments' volume, and your vids will be up to level ;-) Cheers guys: I'll be looking forward for Guitar guys # 3 ! \m/
You listened to this before you posted it didn't you? The ONLY way to hear what you are saying is turn the volume ALL the way up. Not really a good thing. Mr Scott is a fantastic player and the BM (??) sounds interesting.
We've tried different things. We're not using the camera mics. We used lav mics in the past, but they come with problems. We currently use some Sennheiser shotguns mounted on booms that are suspended from the ceiling, so they're out of the shot. We thought they picked up the spoken parts well, if not perfectly. For instance, we don't have have any problem here hearing the spoken stuff during the Brian May section, so we were a little surprised to have two people comment about this right out of the box. We just recorded the next show this morning, same as this one. But we discussed making some changes to the shotgun locations to see if we get better results. We're going to give it a try.
