I just made this for my dinner tonight and I can’t believe how easy and quick it was! I didn’t have any potatoes so put chickpeas in with it and it tasted lovely. Thank you so much for this recipe 🙏 I will be making your chana masala on Friday and my partner wants me to bring some over at weekend for him to try. I can’t wait to try more of your recipes! Thank you 🙏 love from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Okra " Slime" is nutritional soluble fibre, a highly beneficial dietary component. I love the slimy textual addition to dishes.

I love this recipe and made it last week from frozen okra. Tonight I'm going to try it with fresh okra from our local Indian market. I'm sure it will be fantastic.

@@MilhaanHome It was much better, a little sweeter, and not much trouble at all. I did add a tin of chick peas for protein, but that was my only other change.

Really glad I got round to making this tonight, came out really really well. I was surprised how much flavour there was in the Okra. I had it with chana masala that I already had made plus one of the naans from the freezer I made the other day, two hot ones so I had some plain yogurt too, wish I could share the photo with you. Thanks again. Its your husbands chicken curry on the list next!! Cheers.

Awesome! I'm so glad you're enjoying theses recipes! You can't find this kind of food in the restaurants as it's home-style cooking! Now as for my husband's chicken curry, you're in for a treat! I love it! I hope you enjoy it too! Goes really well with Roti, so you might need to give that a go too!! ENJOY!

@@MilhaanHome will do! Yes you do have many unique and interesting recipes compared to many other Indian cooking channels. I like the way you explain why you do things the way you do, and the level of detail you go to. It is appreciated (get the book published !) Thanks.

Delicious Bhinda nu shak! I’ve never made with frozen okra, did you buy them frozen or bought fresh and then freeze them? If they are frozen, what brand it is? Nice tip at the end about coriander.👍😊

I used Taj brand cut okra! It's so easy and they are very good! I was afraid of using frozen too, but now I use it all the time! Thank you for your comment!!

You make it look so easy, I’m definitely going to attempt this now. Thank you! Can I make a request for a future video please - urad daal or I think some people call it daal makhani. It’s our favourite 😊 thank you x

Thank you so much! I try to do all my videos so that they can be followed step-by-step. Nothing is too if you are shown how, so definitely try the rest of my recipes too! And, yes, I will get together a recipe for Urad Dal. It's been on my list of recipes to do so thank you for the request!

After you’ve added the potatoes, mix and then add all the spices including the ginger-garlic-chili paste.

Hi... just one question....someone told me to use fenugreek seeds instead of mustard... which do you think is better to use as far as taste goes....?...
@MilhaanHome
@MilhaanHome 2 года назад
This is a great question! My mum uses Fenugreek seeds and only puts dry masala in it. It tastes very good and the fenugreek seeds impart their favour to the dish. This recipe is how my mother-in-law makes it and I love this method, using onions and mustard seeds. I would try each of the methods and see which you like. They are both good!

What is it you put after mustard seeds?

It’s called Hing or Asafoetida, which is made from the sap of the root of a plant. It’s good for digestion and gives umami to dishes. It has a smell like garlic/onion with a hint of sulphur. But it’s main benefit is to aid digestion. You can make this dish without it, but once you’ve had it with Hing, I think you’ll notice the subtle difference 😊

Can I please ask which brand Frozen okra you use? Thanks
@MilhaanHome
@MilhaanHome 3 года назад
Of course! Right now, I have Taj brand in my freezer. They are good, but not always evenly cut. I think I have used Shana brand before too and they are also good. If I have both brands at the same time, I'll let you know which one is better. I hope that helps.
