That's how I eat Kiwi's. Scrub them well to remove the furry outside and leave a fairly smooth brown skin. Delish and the skin has vitamin E, C, fiber and folate.
Hey Emmy! It's Joe again. Super glad I was able to help you for this video and thanks so much for the shout out! I personally didn't really find the "peeling" of the candy to be very intuitive and it's interesting to see the name brand candy this was a knockoff of had the same problem.
I wonder if the warm weather could have affected the gummy Peelers, making the skin softer, stickier and harder to peel? Walgreens might've thought about that and consequently "fixed" the skin's recipe. Maybe you should try sticking the Peelers into the fridge to see if there's any textural changes.
Emmy described the skin of the grape candy as "nutty" because the experience was so similar to a real grape skin. But I was sitting there thinking the flavor was nutty (as in almond-y etc) for an embarassingly long time.
if it makes you feel any better, I read your comment before watching and thought since she wasn't referring to the flavor, she must have meant it was "nutty" like nut-esque because nuts often have shells 🤦😅
I've had the banana, grape, mango and orange versions of the peelerz. If they get warm in shipping they canter will be deformed, but if they've been properly maintained at a lower temperature they do peel much nicer. The banana ones are my favorite to peel when they've not been overheated and the banana inside looks like a real banana. You must've gotten ones that melted at one point. I live in Arizona, so it's like playing candy roulette whether or not your gummy candies have melted or not.
Yeah, I'm in Tennessee and we have the same issue in the summer time. The other day, I went in the dollar general and their air conditioning was messing up and while we were waiting to check out, my 3 year old son was grabbing candy from the buggy and when I went to put the stuff back, I could feel that the chocolate was all melted in the package. The air had only been out for a few hours but it's so hot that it doesn't take long to get nasty hot. I had grabbed one of those little $1 bags of Welch's grape gummies to share and when I opened them up in the car, they had melted into one giant shapeless mass 😂 It wasn't a big deal but I ran back in to tell them just in case cuz I know people can be assholes and when I went back a couple days later, the air was fixed and they had a buncha their chocolate candy discounted because it had solidified all wonky and deformed when they finally got it cooled off in there. I bought my stepdad a few and he said they were still tasty though! Just one of the pleasure of living in the south, I reckon. 😅 I wonder how stores kept things like that from melting all summer back before air conditioning? 🤔
Omg I just stumbled across the Peelerz at the grocery store 2 days ago. I got the mango flavour. Smelled soooo good and like real mangos. It took a minute to figure out how to peel them the first time, and I agree it's not quite as satisfying a peel as I first expected, but it still is a fun way to eat candy for me. I’m a huge huge fan of the contrasting texture between the layers
I'm so spoiled by her descriptions. I get so frustrated now when I watch someone else's tasting videos and they don't describe the taste. They just say they like it or don't like it. If they even say that much.
the banana nesquik is my ABSOLUTE favorite 🤤it works so well as an iced latte too, ive been obsessed with the stuff since 1994! they still sell it in cananda and its available as an import!
Could be quite entertaining for people who enjoy peeling their foods, even ones that aren't meant to be, like KitKats, plenty of us who enjoy extracting the wafer from their chocolate tomb!!! :P
thank u for this video!!!!!!! i have one of the orange peel-able candies that is completely in Japanese so i didn’t know it was peel-able! i have just been gnawing thru the casing like beef jerky!! i will now try an orange candy PEELED!
Yes I have ate the whole kiwi 🥝 before the skin is fuzzy it tickles your throat 😊😊😊❤❤❤ my name is Sharon Curry from Decatur Illinois l really enjoy watching your cooking 🍳🔪 videos on RU-vid channel God bless you all my friends
I found the Peelerz mango and banana at Cracker Barrel recently and got the mango. I was sooo excited but the peeling experience was awful! My fingers were insanely sticky after and the texture of the middle bit caught me off guard, so I wasn't a big fan and put them down. I should go get them and give them another chance but I won't be peeling them again, it's not worth the hassle/stickiness sadly.
lol That’s where I bought my mango and banana peelerz too! I had the same issues with trying to peel the candy. The stickiness and not having a clean “give” while separating made it an anti-climactic experience. The taste was good though. Not worth the $5 a bag but I was happy to try them out.
I tried the Peelers and yours seemed to peel much better than the ones I got my hands on! Couldn’t help but like the banana ones even if they were a sticky mess. The flavor was SO good!
The Amos Peelers in the banana are 3 oz. and $1.50 at Five Below. I’m not sure of the ounces but the mango is also $1.25 at Dollar Tree. Amos also has a grape, strawberry and peach that are not peelers but are a gel gummy. They are so cute. They look like tiny red strawberries with a green cap. The peach and grape are a single color. The flavor on the grape is like a real Concord grape. I think the strawberry and peach were at the Dollar Tree and the grape was at Five Below.
Hey Emmy, I am so excited! I just found peelable candies at Walgreens! The Nice brand. They have mango and banana. They also had translucent pineapple gummies that are apparently clear and have the juice in the middle. They do peel well. You must try them 😊
I'm not sure about the Nice brand but I know the Amos Peelerz have mango puree in them! I love the flavor of them and was shocked by how true to mango it is. Love your reviews, this was fun to watch!
I like how the Japanese one uses less packaging and is re-sealable. The packaging in the US and Korean one is so big that you’d expect to get a lot but it’s so little.
I can't ever find these either! I am also so apprehensive to order them online, so happy to hear you say they have them at Walgreens!!! Need to do my search
I watched a HopeScope video a few weeks ago where she was trying to find actual peeling candy, but everything she found wasn't the right one... I feel like this is the right one!
I watched that too but I was thinking she had actually found them on the second video (her 2nd channel) where she basically showed us a bunch of things that didn't make it into videos? Maybe I'm remembering wrong?
I’ve had the Nice brand of the banana gummy and it peels amazingly easy and it’s always like a little intact banana. They taste like banana laffy taffy.
Kororo isnt officially intended to be peeled by hand, just biting through the shell and getting to the gummy core is the way. but with that said, Kororo are so fun to eat, no matter which method you want to enjoy em!
I found some Korean peelable candies called ME CANDY. They have peach and mango as well. I didn't know these were a thing and I'm excited to give my son a figit he can eat. Thank you!
Speaking of Ramune, I was highly intrigued and amused the first time I experienced the marble sealed design of the bottles! Pop! 😂 I'm going to have to order some of that grape candy, it looks really good.
Great video, Emmy! Peelable candy seems a weird concept to me, though, because when my son was little I remember spending an extraordinarily long time peeling certain foods FOR him. Apples, grapes, oranges, pears, bananas, you name it! He wouldn't eat it unless I peeled it, lol. Maybe not strawberries, I never peeled strawberries, but to this day, even at 33, he still doesn't like them. Maybe I should have peeled those, too, lol. Have a great week!
I had to run to Walgreens a couple weeks ago to get these and the banana ones . They taste good , but peeling them was not good, just made your fingers gummy and sticky . The nice brand of banana peeled ok, had a white center , it looked exactly like a peeled banana, the taste wasn’t great , I don’t like artificial banana . I’d love to try the Japanese ones( I’m half Japanese). Especially the Ramune one!!!! ❤❤Thanks Emmy, love your videos ! ❤
the Amos candy comes to like 50 cent each, not really worth it imo but interesting novelty none the less. thanks for your videos Emmy you are always fun to watch.
I used to eat fresh mangoes when I was stationed in Panama. But now that I’m much older, I have developed an allergy to mango everything. I have heard that a lot of caucasian people have allergies to mango. I wonder if that’s why mango candy isn’t as popular in the U.S. That and the climate isn’t as favorable for growing mangos in much of the U.S. These candies do look fun though.
I love firm gummies 😩 sometimes I leave a bag of gummies out just so they can harden . Sour punch straws too ! I love them when they’re harder and not soft lol 😂
I found some banana flavored ones at Walgreens last month I think. Loved them, I love banana flavored things. If you can find them, I’d suggest trying them
This was amazing. I have been obsessed with the peelable candy. Amos makes an orange one as well, kinda disappointing like the peach one, but tasty. There is also a cube one from the brand Cokoc, mixed soda flavor, that has little gummy animals inside. They are so cute
So they had the mango peelerz at a local dollar tree and I was so excited to try them cause I’m a big fan of mango and gummies. Imagine my disappointment when I couldn’t get one to peel correctly. Even worse was the almost cheeselike texture of the gummy itself. I wasn’t happy with these at all.
Emmy, please do a video on peach tree resin. Its is soaked in water and swells up and looks like gummies, but it is tree resin. It is is used in soups and deserts but I can't imagine what it tastes like. Maybe it is just a texture like some boba.
I haven’t tried the Tic Toc popular ones but the Walgreens ones I have and I love them. They have a small little lip at the bottom that is supposed to make the easier to peel and also they should be cold and that helps also
thats interesting. the Nice brand mango peelable candy is what everyone online liked MORE than the amazon Amos brand. i might give the Amos brand a try 👍
Emmy you HAVE to try a peeled strawberry! I thought José Andrés was being hyperbolic the way he was talking about them. But a peeled strawberry is a thing of pure joy! They taste sparkly! Do yourself a favor before summer is over try a peeledstrawberry .🎆🍓🎆
I don't know if you have a 5 Below store in your area. But the 5 Below stores in my area carry the Peelerz brand here. They are my sons favorite candies
I wonder if the name brand one had some temperature variations as it arrived to you and that caused it to separate poorly? Like the layers adhered from temp variation?
i wonder if the temp plays a role, like if they'll peel better if you throw them in the fridge for some time? i dont think i've seen these in the philippines though.
