I don't think I'd be too excited about the firearms with bores over 20mm. When you read the section in it's entirety, it really does talk about grenade launchers, mortars and missiles. I don't agree with the ban as it really won't deal with public safety. I also do agree with the whole idea of ARs for hunting for the FN, but then tell the rest of Canada and non-indegenious that you can't hunt with the. I'd also like to point out there is some precedents that laws can be "discriminatory" if there is a public good. I think we really have to stay within the realm of - if you're going to be doing this in the vein of public safety, then we need to deal with the gangs, crimes using guns and the illegal use and importation of guns. I think the various organizations out there will try to get clarification on that section.
I called the RCMP today and asked about 12 gauge they said I'm fine to go hunting on Saturday not on ban list. 12 gauge 15 to 19 mm. 10000 joules is about 3650 fps there is not to many hunting bolt action rifles that shoot ammo that fast. But what do I know.

And how come almost nobody discusses personal protection and home Defense as viable uses of firearms. Yeah I know, it’s illegal. Time to change that. What we really need is stiffer gun laws for criminals. If you get caught using a gun in a crime, it should be 10 years in prison, NO questions asked ! If someone is injured or killed in a crime involving a firearm, 20 years in prison, NO questions asked ! If you steal a firearm in a break and enter you get 5 years and if the firearms are not recovered in that five years it becomes 10 years. No questions asked ! The government can put out an amnesty period for all persons in possession of an illegal firearm to turn them in and after that period anyone caught with an ILLEGAL firearm gets 10 years in prison, NO questions asked. I guess I will have to wait to see what we still can own. Gun companies will come out with guns that do the same thing but cant be classed as an AR-10 or AR-15 or an M-14. This recent notification on the RCMP website indicates that 10 and 12 gauge shotguns are NOT considered to fit the description of banned firearms because they are recognized as having a less than 20 mm bore (even with removable chokes): " Important notice: Update on 10 and 12 gauge shotgun classification under the new prohibition On May 1st, 2020, the Government of Canada announced that it had made amendments to the Regulations Prescribing Certain Firearms and Other Weapons, Components and Parts of Weapons, Accessories, Cartridge Magazines, Ammunition and Projectiles as Prohibited, Restricted or Non-Restricted (SOR/98-462) [Classification Regulations] prescribing certain firearms as prohibited. One of the categories of the newly prohibited firearms include ""Any firearm with a bore diameter of 20 mm or greater"" (s. 95 of the Classification Regulations). The Canadian Firearms Program (CFP) of the RCMP adheres to the Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners' (AFTE) definition for bore diameter measurements. "The interior dimensions of the barrel forward of the chamber but before the choke." (Glossary of the Association of Firearm & Tool Mark Examiners by the AFTE Standardization Committee, 1st Ed. 1980). This is reflected in the RCMP's Firearms Reference Table (FRT) which clearly states that ""...in shotguns, diameter of the barrel forward of the chamber but before the choke."" The CFP also recognizes the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute (SAAMI) standards regarding firearms and ammunition. Canadians should have an inalienable right to own firearms for sporting, hunting, and self-defense. We, the citizens, are adults. Canada has strict gun laws. You have mentioned the Polytechnique shooting in '89. I just wanted to remind everyone that, that shooting is what prompted the magazine capacity restriction. So, the Ruger Mini 14 with a 30 round magazine used then, is not the same Ruger Mini 14 of today with a 5 round capacity. Stating that the same Ruger was used in that incident in '89 is misleading. Might be a noteworthy point as we try to navigate through this mess.

I fully support your views and law abiding gun owners. I for one don't understand the waste of money with this buy back program when it could be used to tackle the real issue. However, in a country like the US, where assault style rifles are still legal, many of these legal assault style rifles are sold in the black market, which are then sold to even more criminals. I find it interesting that the entire impetus for this is to save lives and make Canadians safer. In 2018 there were 249 homicides in Canada from firearms. 143 by handgun, 56 by shotgun or long rifle, and 30 by undefined. The undefined category includes things like nail guns, pellet guns, airsoft guns etc. By contrast 1,500 people are killed and more than 63,000 are injured each year Canada in impairment-related crashes. Opioids killed 3,286 Canadians in the first nine months of 2018. Cigarette smoking on average kills 45,000 Canadians per year. In 2002 alcohol caused 77,000 hospitalizations and 4,258 deaths. So, looking at all this why are the Liberals going after the lowest number of deaths, its simple votes. Banning guns makes NEWS, the hard work of securing the boarder to keep illegal guns out does not. Why does the government not have statistics regarding where guns involved in crimes come from, is it because the numbers would not support their argument? One last thought, for all those law abiding gun owners who are sitting on the side lines in this fight because you don’t own any of the banned firearms, the gun control advocates have already said that this does not go far enough, they want the Australian / New Zealand model, no semi autos, not hand guns. The government is trying to sweep under the rug the FACT that the murderer in Nova Scotia was NOT a legal gun owner, had an RCMP uniform which he used to kill people more easily and had a car IDENTICAL to an RCMP marked car which allowed him to evade police for a day while he murdered people. He had a history of assault as well as mental health issues (according to his ex girlfriend). The RCMP themselves didn't issue an amber alert when they were looking for the killer. The government is also staying quiet about the fact that the killer STOLE guns from the RCMP constable he killed and used them to kill others because it doesn't fit their narrative of "gun control". The Prime Minister says "the purpose of these assault weapons is to kill as many people in the shortest amount of time", so why should ANYONE trust ONLY the police and government to have them..?? and of course the gang bangers and organized criminals. Why do police have firearms as well as these rifles if the ONLY purpose is to "kill as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time"..?? Hypocrisy and elitism at its finest. Absolutely disgusting.
For example feom 2014 to 2018 less then 1500 people where killed by firer arm. Now drunk drivers They say between 1250 and 1500 people killed and around 63000 injured this is a year. Why are the Assualt cars on that chopping block aswell.

The answer to why do you "need" an AR-15 is simple. In a free society I do NOT "need" to justify my ownership of legally owned, legally obtained property PERIOD! And in a free society governments do not confiscate legally owned legally obtained property, or pass laws that makes legal property illegal.
For those who don't know the Canadian gun laws, our laws are already very strict. In order to legally own a gun, you need a permit from the government - very difficult to obtain, it takes months. This means that you cannot own a gun (even a .22 LR single-shot) without government permission. Doing so is a serious crime. Trudeau says that you don't need an AR-15 to hunt. First of all, you can't even hunt with an AR in Canada, it's a restricted firearm! Secondly, a permit for restricted guns is much harder to obtain than a permit for non-restricted. All the new laws will do? Punish law-abiding citizens. It is VERY difficult to legally obtain a gun in Canada.

There are many examples in Canadian laws where our rights and freedoms are being violated specifically because we are not part of a liberal defined group that is deemed to be under privileged. Tomorrow I think that all men should identify as lesbian, 1/2 indigenous North American 1/2 African North American women who are disabled.
Actually since the RCMP allowed the LAR-15 mags, which are pistols, there are mags that have 10 rounds which fit in the rifles. I noticed the RCMP removed their bulletin that permitted the use of those in "rifles" which technically would be illegal, but totally legal in the AR-pistols - prior to the new ban..
I think I can clear something up on First Nation/Native Americans. In the US, Natives belong to their own nations. They are citizens of their tribe. The government has made agreements saying they can hunt and fish without typical regulation. Our government must honor these agreements. A man's word is his bond. Don't know about Canada on that stuff but thats probably along the line of why they're exempt. Also the Mini 14 that psycho used had a busted gas system so it operated like a straight pull. Showing this ban is pointless because he could kill 14 with a standard hunting rifle. May they RIP.
"Modern sporting rifle" is a nonsense term. Your argument about "racist law" is also rubbish. Do you hunt through need to put food on the table or is it an entertainment for you. You have had(1989 to present) 8 events where 78 people were killed. That is due to restrictive firearms regulations in Canada. not because Canadians are nice people.Look to the US who have their 2nd amendment and NRA, they had over 1000 people killed in the same period. Now where I live in Australia we had one event at Port Arthur in Tasmania where 35 people were killed,. the law was changed and all assault type firearms, semi auto rifles and shotguns and pump action rifles and shotguns were surrendered and destroyed. since then there have been no mass shootings.Before the gun law reforms there were 13 mass shootings between 1979 and 1996. Limiting firearm access and the numbers who can justify having firearms saves lives. It just pisses off the law abiding citizens. I know it did annoy me originally when I surrendered firearms for destruction, now after seeing the benefits and the lives saved. It is the best Law passed in the last half of the 20th century in Australia. All the best.
In Canada, the (UK) 1688 Bill of Rights remains in statute. You should look into whether or not Article 6 (the right to keep & bear arms) has been lawfully repealed.

So my doubt is, I noticed observing the cities around Canada and US , that the wildlife is so close to the urban areas. Even some of the most populated cities, and I always asked myself : How these people lives in some neighborhoods far from the crowded areas, places like Langley in British Columbia, and Golden in Colorado for example. Places full of wildlife around... how these people manage to feel safe ? from bears attack, cougars attack and wildlife in general. Going straight to the point, does these people have the right to have guns and carry them ? Around these small cities ? How can a person be in peace, relaxing in the yard with his/her children contemplating the sky, siting in a chair, and not be afraid To be attacked by a wild animal ? Good Morning, I agree with your thoughts in your video 90%, I do not think AR type rifles should be legal, they were designed to kill people in war situations, and that is the only place that they should be legally used. But that is just my opinion alone, which I have a right to having. As for the most part, all the other guns & rifles should be left alone, if they are used for right purpose. As for the killer in the Nova Scotia mishap in Apr 2020, if the law abiding people that sold this person all the guns and ammo to him without even having a FAC card They are as guilty as he was, and that is who they should be going after.Be safe. Correction to your No. 1: You are correct in saying within Canadian legislation there is no specific definition of what an Assault Rifle is. However, Canadian legislation is not the end all be all. Canada is a signatory to many international treaties & these treaties do in fact make up a portion of our laws. One such treaty involves hundreds of definitions that we recognize, one of them is the proper definition of an Assault Rifle. Thus, Canada does have a definition for Assault Rifles, it is inshrined in a international law that most of our allies recognize as well. When I served in the army I was issued an Assault Rifle, a C7, & we were required to memorize that definition... along with many other random definitions the military uses. By definition, all Assault Rifles have been banned since the 70s, as all Assault Rifles are capable of select-fire functionality. That means the AR-15 is NOT an Assault Rifle. Lastly, the term “Assault Weapon” does appear in US legislation & is defined quite specifically, however it does not appear in Canadian legislation anywhere, nor does it appear under any international law.
