Gun Expert Reacts to Borderlands 3 

Jakobs - Futuristic guns with old west inspirations. Dahl - Conventional automatic military style weapons. Valdof - same thing as Dahl but with a russian/soviet aesthetic. Hyperion - the best way to describe their guns is guns wearing a suit and tie. Tediore - cheap plastic guns made for people with a budget that never need to reload. You just throw them away after you empty them and another one just magically appears in your hand.(there's lore based reasons for this that I'm too lazy to describe right now) Atlas - Guns specializing in enemy tracking technology. Basically you mark an enemy with a tracker and the bullets chase the enemy when shot. Bandit/COV - Guns made by the bad guys from scrap, junk and other metal parts. They also don't need to be reloaded but overheats if you shoot it continuously for too long.

3:58 that laser looking thing shooting out of the gun is one of the Character's abilities. She fires those at set intervals and they don't consume bullets in the gun and do bonus damage.

Idk if they noticed it but the Scoville is called what it's called not only because of the heat measurement of peppers, it also shoots explosive hot sauce bottles. (One my favorite wacky borderlands 3 weapons for sure)

Kind of sad that they weren't shown the Super Shredifier, just because if they thought the Lucian's Call looked like some crazy gatling technology, the Shredifier would have been a field trip to see

The unending have 3 barrels insides so is actually spinning not one,you can see that in 6:38 if you pause

The Lucian’s call, like most of the “call” weapons regen ammo on and richochet on critical hits. So despite the 100 rounds, it has the potential to never run out as long as you’re aiming for critical hits.

It's actually funny you mention left handed guns here. Because at some point the ship you call home catches fire and you have to jettison all your cargo. From there a character remarks "There goes all our left handed guns"

Id love to see a follow up video showcasing some COV guns and some more rifles, shotguns, and launchers from some of the manufacturers shown here. Something like a maliwan sniper, atlas rifle, Dahl pistol, hyperion/torgue shotgun, vladof launcher and hell, anything from COV would all get interesting reactions for various reasons. Not to mention all the guns with alien barrels

One of the key components of the Borderlands games is the loot and shoot mechanic. Enemies, chests, and quest will have weapons from various manufacturers. These will help you achieve greater levels of badass glory. Jakobs guns are all about that old west aesthetic and dealing high non-elemental damage. You can fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. Dahl in the Borderlands 2 would fire in burst when aiming down the sights. Here you can freely switch between two firing modes. Vladof is very soviet inspired and military in design. They offer high fire rates as their main gimmick. Maliwan is highly futuristic with needlessly sophisticated and pretentious names like the "Fervid Gospel". Maliwan guns will always deal elemental damage. (Fire, corrosive, cryogenic, shock, etc.) Torgue weapons often have a checkered flag design on them and focus on dealing explosive damage, making it easier for those who are not an expert marksman. Tediore guns are made with plastic and other cheap materials, making them affordable for the people who don't want to destroy their wallets. Their gimmick is in the quick and unique reload mechanic. Throw your gun like a grenade and a new one will be constructed in your hands. The power of the thrown gun is based on how much ammo you had in the clip. There's always some guy in an action flick who throws his empty guns, now it's a viable strategy. Atlas guns make a return from the first game with new tracking bullets for the bandits who just won't leave their cover. Shoot one bullet to mark the target and the rest will curve to land the fatal blow. Be sure to aim upward. Hyperion was the main threat in Borderlands 2 and is taking a break from being the bad guys in 3. These gun initially have poor accuracy but become as precise as snipers the longer you hold the trigger. COV guns are made by bandits and psychos. These ramshackle guns have large magazines but are rather poor in their other stats.

The colorful line that you guys saw are elements, blue is shock/electric, green is acid, light blue is ice, yellow is explosive and orange is fire, but the random fire bullet is a skill for that character, every few bullets that the character shoots, it will be fire elements

The thing I want the guys to know is that all of these are legendary guns within the game. All legendaries have some sort of unique quirk or ability that most guns don't have. Most don't have fixed parts, meaning the sight, barrel, stock, etc. could change depending how it's generated in game. This also changes the prefix of the guns actual name which they're reading. Also the orange beams of energy is the characters ability, nothing with the guns.

Also, the previous Borderlands had various iterations of the Unforgiven revolver made by Jakobs. 3:21 And there's the latest iteration of the Jakobs Unforgiven. 3:27 I can't recall a single game that depicts a single-action revolver being cocked using the cross-thumb technique (which is regarded as the most optimized technique for single-action revolvers, and is only useful when firing revolvers single-action). 3:40 In BL2, most bayonets were portrayed wrong. They were portrayed as slashing weapons instead of stabbing weapons. In some cases, it made sense, like the blade attachments on Torgue and Bandit shotguns (which were shaped like orc swords, making them ideal for hacking and slashing instead of stabbing). But ALL pistol bayonets or blade attachments, regardless of shape (some looked like Pritchard bayonets), had the same attack animation which was a two-handed slash motion. 3:48 A slashing bayonet (is that still called a "bayonet?") would have a different shape, right? More like a butcher's knife or meat cleaver. Also notice how that pistol bayonet has a single point of contact instead of the usual two. 4:23 Looks like, for Jakobs revolvers, they're drawing inspirado from the WW1-era Pritchard bayonet for the Webley Mk.VI. 6:50 Why does it have an HK-style "slap" type of charging handle if it reciprocates?! And why is that type of charging handle on a Vladof gun anyway? That would fit more on a Dahl. 7:23 That, plus it sounds like "Schofield." Some Jakobs revolvers were definitely inspired by the S&W Schofield. 8:05 Remember Sectars: Warriors of Symbion, M.A.S.K., Starriors, Gobots, Boglins, Madballs, Power Lords, and "Rocks & Bugs & Things?" 8:15 What's the point of reloading "wrong-handed" like that? By that, I mean loading using the shootin' hand instead of the support hand. 8:48 "Raptor" grip, aka "bird's head" or "chicken head" grip. That style of grip, apart from doing what you describe, also puts the wrist and arm in a better position for absorbing recoil while firing a stockless shotgun compared to a regular pistol grip. 8:55 Then there's the Ithaca Auto & Burglar Gun which has a "saw" grip (shaped like the handle of a wood saw). 17:19 Which is funny because it's Dahl. Vladof is the company that bases their tech on Warsaw Pact aesthetics. 17:26 You can tell it was designed by someone who doesn't understand bullpups (see also most fictional bullpups). 18:12 cursed 19:04 >w< 21:30 BL3-era Atlas tech draws a lot of influence from Zorg in terms of its "smart" method of function. Maybe Hyperion draws inspirado from Zorg's aesthetics (but more gaunt and angular). 23:20 There's a joke in BL3 about that where Ellie mentions all the left-handed guns getting sucked out of an airlock. The only guns that aren't ambidextrous are bullpups with side-ejection. 24:36 "Vladof! You don't need to be a better shot. You just need to shoot more bullets."

The fun thing about the Lucian's Call ingame is that when you hit critical spots ammo regenerates inside the magazin that is loaded. so if you are consistently hitting crits, you don't need to reload and suddenly the fact that the rate of fire increases makes a lot more sense :)

The gun from The Fifth Element was called the ZF-1 and there is a version of it (with bullets that chase enemies around) in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

lucians call is one of those guns that all players go after, it's an absolute beast, and hitting critical with it makes it even better.

The rotating barrel piece you see on that Vladof pistol actually reduces accuracy bloom. That's in the game of course. What each part does is in the parts list.

The "tracer" rounds are a character skill, not related to the gun

The flaps on Hyperion weapons are stabilizers. More obvious in BL2, where they slowly spread out as you shoot. This brand makes gun with reversed recoil, essentially. They start inaccurate, but the more you shoot the more accurate they become. Which allows you to snipe with an SMG or pistol. Also in BL3 they added a shield when you ADS to give a reason to do so.

Props for remembering Highwayman!

The lasers on the nighthawk are all coming from the one barrel. A lot of the guns have the same bug where lasers are looking like they're coming from somewhere else. Basically it's where the animations between the gun and the characters abilities don't align properly.

The Wagon Wheel is named for its special effect: a critical hit will split into 6 shots that fly outwards. The enemy's face is the wheel axle, the 6 shots the spokes Also, personal favorites I would love to see covered include: - the Flakker - the Redline - the Hellwalker - the Nukem - the Lyuda - the Faisor

To bad that you didn't get around to one of my favorite guns:the headsplosion sniper rifle. A sniper rifle that fires high explosive rounds that split into three likewise exploding ricochet rounds when you hit an enemy weak point.

Jakobs which are responsible for weapons like: the masher, unforgiven, etc: all but some ars are semi automatic weapons, high damage and most of the time, great fire rate Maliwan which are responsible for weapons like: spinner, destructo, etc: weapons that always come with an element Hyperion which are responsible for weapons like: conference call, “female dog”, etc:the longer you hold the trigger, the more accurate it becomes Torgue are responsible for weapons like: the Scoville, the unkempt Harold, roisens thorns, etc: every single weapon is either a rocket launcher, or a mini rocket launcher. Either can be explode on impact or as sticky grenades the explode when you reload or when you switch to another weapon Tediore: responsible for weapons like: the gunerang, the bangerang, the deliverance, etc: after you use up all your ammunition, you can just throw it away and another appears onto your hands. The thrown gun explodes: on impact, when shot, or not at all and acts as a turret Atlas are responsible for weapons like: the opq-system, freeman, the ruby’s wrath, etc: in its alternate firing mode, it would tag your enemies so that the main firing mode would track them COV are responsible for weapons like: the moar pain moar power, the linoge, etc: doesn’t need to reload as it would source its ammunition from your pocket dimension known as your ammo pouch, though if you hold the trigger for too long it will overheat Dahl are responsible for weapons like: the emp-5, the torrent, etc: always has an alt firing mode, with them being burst, single shot, and full auto. They are extremely accurate with almost no recoil Vladof are responsible for weapons like: the shreddifier, Lucian’s call, magnificent, etc: almost all firearms manufactured by them increase fire rate the longer the trigger is held

Need some sickle reactions cause the chunky bolt and amount of rounds is awesome

It’s funny you mention Firefly, there’s actually a gun called “The Companion” and the red flavor-text reads “You Can’t Take The Sky From Me” and it even looks like Malcolm’s gun.

Kinda wish those guns were shown on either Flak or Zane so there's no extra visual effects interfering. Also, it would be nicer if those guns were at least shown with the target Dummy to make it more obvious what the gun actually does, especially in cases like the Wagon Wheel, which has a pretty crazy effect when you hit something.

As a matter of fact, there are left handed versions, but you end up having to jettison them early on due to a fire in the airlock they were stored in. You just happen to never find more.

Different components of each gun are randomized and modular so, aside from established iconic weapons, there are billions of differen combinations for the creation of weapons. I think Borderlands 1 excelled at this.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet, but the ripper does extra damage against any enemy you melee for a short time.

Unforgiven is pretty much a pocket sniper. In fact, its fire rate is so slow that reloading the thing after every shot is faster than firing your next shot. Especially if you got any form of reload speed buffs going on with your character or on their gear. XD

So that red laser you see is a side effect of the specific character Moze. She has an ability that once every couple shots she shoots a bullet enhanced with fire which shows up as a big red laser

I wish they would do a reaction to the weapons from the Valkyria Chronicles games, I've only played 1 and 4 because it's on Steam, but I noticed that the rifles and SMGs in the games are based off of real life weapons, like the semi auto rifle in the 4th game, which is just an M1 Garand with a shorter barrel, and maybe they can react to weirder things like the anti tank lances or the Grenadier's mortars, not to mention the youngest Ranger in the 4th game

what's kinda sad is they reference both zorg weaponry and Mal's sidearm from serenity and the weapons that most closely represent that aren't shown. I know the "zorg rifle* was a legendary atlas one and the serenity one is called the companion with the red text " you can't take the sky from me" I believe.

I wouldn't have used the shock version of the magnificent. It has double barrels for the alt fire mode, but the alt shock is just a taser, making it less than ideal.

The Unending Magnificent actually has three magazines instead of two, but the animation wasn't working for the third one in this clip The last one isn't Koos, it says Kaos XD the font makes it hard to tell, I know

I'd like to let you know that the appearance of the guns on display here are not fixed, some of them are modified with parts from other manufacturers.

That trail is called amp I’m pretty sure. Amp makes shots do more damage and basically ricochet. Some guns have amp some don’t. Or, a comment mentioned that characters have skills that make amp.

If you make part 2 make sure to reset the character's skills, so stuff like fire projectiles and double shots don't get in the way

This was such a fun watch, I’d say if they do another have a BL streamer kind of give them a little run down on what the gun details are so they got full context.

Finally I’ve been saying this to about every reactor to do borderlands one an two I’d say the gun are most realistic then three but they all are crazy haha

Torgue weapons are actually more realistic than people give them credit for there was a gun series irl that shoots tiny little jet powered projectiles

In my opinion these videos should try either not using Moze or using a character with no skills specced so people aren't confused by her "tracer" rounds or wondering why a 6 mag gun shoots 14 times per reload, and try shooting at a wall/object so they can see what the bullets do after landing, like how some explode/bounce/leave puddles
