Panic buying during the Obama era, as well as panic buying in 2020, and decades of people sporterizing historical guns, plus import restrictions are to blame for that.

Note: make sure you check the gas mask information. I have heard from a lot of places old Russian gas masks used to use Asbestos in their filters. If you're just collecting, that's alright but if you plan on legitimately using the gear, just make sure it wasn't made with things like asbestos.

My dad and I will never forget when we went to a gun store to buy my first deer rifle in 2013. There was a mint condition K-31 for $200. I was between that and this Remington 700 with a removable magazine. The guy at the counter said, " there's almost never any ammo for that swiss gun". So we got the Remington. Years later it's 2019, my dad and I buy 2 k-31 rifles for $600+ each..

@LuvBorderCollies 3 года назад
Lucky dog! Yes on the unique odor in the store.!! Every time I went to MSP, stopping at the SG outlet store was mandatory. Never knew what brass and steel goodies awaited. This was mostly in the heyday of foriegn rifles & ammo. Always had to pick up a crate or three of ammo. Best deals was on ammo that was too small quantity to put in the catalog. Walking in was like being in Milsurp Wonderland. lol Still have a case of beautiful Equador 8x57 that has a lot of dead primers. But it so cheap it would've cost more to ship it back.

Hi guys! I just recently purchased a sporterized M1903 with a Lyman 48C, with the stripper clip slot machined into the 48C, a Nickel Steel bolt with the SN electro-pencilled into it, polished in the white, Muzzle and Throat erosion 1.0, blued receiver and barrel, original barrel SA from 1928, star-gauged, in a nasty looking aftermarket stock, for well under $1000. I bought a nice aftermarket walnut stock, and the missing metal, and I have myself a beautiful National Match grade M1903 Springfield. Then a month later I lost in an auction bidding for a round-receiver Mosin 91/30 because the bidding went over $1000!!! Over $1000 for a rifle worth $70!! Go figure. I'm literally holding my NM grade M1903 with a beautiful full length walnut stock that I finished in boiled linseed oil myself, and fitted to this beautiful action, with an M1907 sling, all for under $1000, and someone out there is holding a Mosin 91/30 for over $1000... I'm repeating myself.. but this world is truly up-side-down.

Picked up some military surplus 7.62x45 for my Vz 52 last year. Last weekend I took out 3 boxes (45 rounds) and I had 4 rounds that fired correctly, 1 was a hang fire, and the rest all failed to fire even though they had good primer strikes. Had a good laugh and still enjoyed my range time. The 4 that did fire correctly all hit the bullseye of the target. Go figure..

Unfortunately the only store near me that sells milsurp equipment as well as rifles is taking advantage of the price gouging. K98 in poor to barely ok condition 800 bucks. Lee Enfield in rough shape with a cracked stock 650. You dont even want to know what their selling ammo for.

Poncho liner, don't go hunting without it. Whether it is Colorado, or Texas, it can be used in a multitude of uses. I like it to cover up my face when in the sleeping bag, or to cover the tops of my legs when I am sitting in the blind. It retains your heat and is very light weight.

I was in Tallil AFB in the TX 56th BCT, and I remember you guys in the 48th trickling in to relieve us. At the time we thought the ACU's were cool until we got issued some back home. Then we realized how much they sucked. I was a 45B so we probably ran across one another.

@@BabyCharlotteschannel They are beefy. But be prepared for imperfect log rails, they twist and warp a bit. It helps if you're at least a bit of a carpenter and can think about which rail should go where to make it come out best.

Today I learned you don’t knit or crochet a quilt, you quilt a quilt Also I LOVE my 50s era Swedish wool tunic when it’s cold outside. Works great over either casual or semi-formal wear like jeans or khaki dress pants in the winter.

Milsurp gear makes great camping gear. The US wool blanket I bought two years ago was one of my greatest cold weather hammocking investments I've made. I keep one in my car and was transporting firearms from one place to another and forgot a case, so I tossed the woolie over the guns and called it good.

The best surplus clothing I have is this quilted Swedish m90 parka that I bought for $20 at a surplus store here six years ago. I’ve worn it every winter since here in Alaska. I don’t even need to layer up with this thing it’s so warm. This year I ripped a small part of it on a door frame, and when I went to try to find another I saw that they’re fetching HUNDREDS of dollars on eBay from Korea and Japan of all places. The only thing I wish was different about is is the hood, I want one with a quilted hood, this one just rolls up into the collar.

Used to rely on the old US Army gabardine wool pants in the Winter, especially for hunting. Can't get that quality anymore without spending a fortune. I also regularly wore Army/Air Force all cotton chinos. The last pair I got in the mid 90's I got one wearing, but the cotton thread was dry rotted.

When Labron James broke Kareen Abdul Jabbar's NBA scoring record several days ago, the game stopped for ceremonies, speeches, etc. His family came out onto the court, his first hug was from his mom who was wearing a "Labron" tank top but over that was woodland camo over-shirt which to me looked like the British woodland pattern.

My was a Springfield O3A3 (1965), the barrel was shot out. Replaced the barrel and it’s a tack driver. I was in the army during Vietnam, as for clothes, the only thing that came out of that era that was worth a damn was the jungle fatigue jacket, the M-65 Jacket was ok, but rest was junk wouldn’t last.
