Sometimes I think the 2A community is it's own worst enemy. (and as I'm typing this, Eric says it... LOL) There's no shortage of boot-lickers in the 2A community, who will happily turn in each other to the government. I was raised on the "live and let live" mentality.
I don't see it that way. We don't need to be an echo chamber. Someone complaining about you or criticizing you isn't the end of the world. We aren't "our own worst enemies" when it comes to the community.
@@NVEMBER sure we are, do you know how many self proclaimed gun people whole heartedly believe gun laws are a good thing? how many think the 2a community needs the infringement to keep the club exclusive? or just think you only need that old hunting rifle for deer and that's it the rest should go? those of the community with these mindsets are the worst enemy of the 2a community, the enemy within our ranks, so to speak.
@@NVEMBER - How do you feel about the NFA, or the ATF? Do you think they're good to go? Do you think it's OK for some rando at the range to cosplay an ATF agent? Do you also think it's OK for a gun store salesman to act as a gatekeeper to the 2A community? This is not hyperbole.
My grandfather used to say "why dig up a snake, just to kill it"- man if people would just apply that to 1/4 of what they bitch about- life would be soooo much simpler
Two real life situations that happened to me. First one was in NJ with a compliant AR15 I owned. Had a stranger walk up to me on the firing line and tell me it was illegal to own that "weapon" in NJ. I proceeded to ask why its illegal and if he's a lawyer or a LEO? He replied he was not and it was illegal just because it is....I ignored him and finished up my range session. Second situation was at a public range in Delaware where I was test firing a friends 10/22 that I just installed a new bullpup stock on it. I was only planning on firing 50 rounds, so I had 5 10 round mags ready to go. I was firing slowly, allowing the trigger to reset then pressing off another round. The "Range officer" came screaming over at me yelling "ONE ROUND A SECOND!!!!" I stopped, looked at him and said I was doing that. He said do it again and your out of here! So I loaded up a fresh mag and ran it as fast as I could! I looked at him and said now that's rapid fire! I packed up and left. Never went back lol
I don't understand the 1 round a second thing especially if you are actually training and practicing fundamentals as you are never going to just fire 1 round per second unless the recoil for long guns was high or the muzzle rise on handguns was high mostly on polymer frame guns as not enough weight to it as the weight is all on the heavy slide
@@JohnnyYeTaecanUktena Although I get it, maybe, sort of, the concern, black or white rules just don't work. It's like holster draw rules or any of that kind of stuff. There's a time and place everything. People are at the range for lots of reasons. Sometimes even to train, or even practice. Whaaaaaat? It's like some of these ranges never heard of competition shooting. Well that requires practice and training.
@@mikefarmer4748 Hell even if you are practicing for self defense you need to fire 3 rounds per second at center mass. Which in order to do that and not accidently 8 rounds one needs to train as high stress situation so they can be aware how many shots they fired while under adrenaline
Being an old guy, I've seen the list of range safety rules get longer and longer over the years. I still like going to the range, but I have to say that I feel uptight because I know I'm being watched.
The first time I went to a designated shooting range I'm pretty sure the posted rules list was 5 items of the most basic safety things that parents used to teach their kids. I'm sure there are any number of reasons why the rules have gotten so long today but I'd say the obvious would be that some people in the past, without self control or common sense, created the reason for them.
@@Jet2416-Reloading Yes the world had changed, it's hard these days to even get into a shooting club. 30 years ago they were begging for members. Liability insurance and increased numbers of users, and I believe a bit of politics have made the list of range rules longer.
You have to understand though that there are also a lot more gun owners than there used to be, many of them just buying a firearm for the first time, and by a lot more I mean numbers and sales have tripled just in the last few years. Of those new shooters, many are unfortunately very, very ignorant of shooting and gun safety and need supervision because they go to the range without ever having fired a shot and without any idea of how to safely handle a firearm. I understand that it's frustrating for a veteran shooter to have to put up with, but once you've been muzzle flashed by some giggling airhead who has no clue she's one hiccup away from putting a round in someone on the range line because she doesn't understand the importance of keeping her weapon pointed down-range, you start to understand why they need those rules and why they want to enforce them.
Eh. I had a high school friend post video of her daughter shooting what was clearly an AR-15 pistol with a vertical foregrip on it. I had to ping her on it and let her know she might be breaking the rules if she doesn't have an SBR tax stamp. Made it pretty clear that I don't give a F, but the ATF might and since I care about her, thought I would bring it up tactfully and privately. If someone wants to question the legality of my firearm, I don't care because I'm not a little b*&%. As far as I am concerned, US firearm laws are null and void after Biden's Afghanistan pullout where he armed terrorists with guns and equipment that we can't legally get here.
@@JohnJohn-oh3kt It is almost like the number of troops, their support structure, the timing, and the organization plays a role...but also, thank you for that COMPLETELY irrelevant detail. Except he didn't pull out all of the troops and he didn't do it like an idiot...so..."just sayingggggg" hhaha

This is the kind of stuff that makes me never go to public ranges... I'd rather drive 45 min out into public land to an abandoned quarry or whatever where I can shoot without being bothered by the local fudds.
My family farms and I have a range set up in the middle of a 360 acre parcel. I had 8 coworkers out shooting on a nice weekend and a guy from a local town drove out to see what we were doing. Drove past the no trespassing signs that are every field access roads and down a mile drive to get back where my range is. The fudds will find you no matter where you are!
Glad to hear from my favorite gun lawyer unfortunately living in CA like myself. I’m getting out when finances and circumstances allow!!! NV here I come!!’
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed…..SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!!!!!!!!! This is the only law of the land. PERIOD.
Never forget folks.......how badly we outnumber them. Hundreds of millions vs MAYBE half a mil. Seems bleak sometimes......but look at the numbers. Say red flags went national. If they confiscated 1000 peoples firearms every day.......you're talking hundreds and hundreds of years to get em all Pokémon style.
When I first went to the gun store for the first time, I ask the guy helping me choose my first gun, how would anyone know if for example I made my own bumpstock at home. That being said, his response told me all I need to know. He said the problems start when people tell other people. Because secrets are never secrets. All the time at the range people tell me I look too young to own a handgun but I just continue shooting.
I work at a gun store and the people that I can't stand dealing with the most are the Avid Hunters. Most of these people have it in their mind that if it can't shoot a thousand yards it's not a real gun and if you don't go hunting then there's no reason to own firearms. The same people that'll tell you that high-capacity magazines are a waste of ammo and their concealed carry pistol is a pocket-size 380 that they keep in their literal pocket out of a holster
I was trading optics with a guy, he had a range on his land. I brought my rifle I had at the time (a 14.5 noveske) and he was questioning if it was pinned and welded... Etc... Basically seeing if my perfectly legal rifle was in fact legal. I asked him why he was asking so many questions, and he just brushed it off like he was just wondering. Okay.....
Never forget, Randy Weaver was assaulted and lost half his family for selling a shotgun to a fed who thought selling him a full length shotgun to sbr was irresponsible.
I've had to explain why it needs to be pinned to friends about to order 14.5". If they ever want to crawl up your butt because you saved your own life, they have you for 10yrs on a clean shoot. HOPEFULLY he was looking out for you. Still, you answered correctly. When they come for our guns, they'll give deals to rats.
In California when the high capacity magazine law was declared unconstitutional the hall monitors were out in force on forums telling people not to buy them because a stay was put on it by the court.
Thank you guys for always keeping us updated. Yall are an amazing voice for the gun community! I hope to meet yall someday. I'm located in North Georgia. Thank you and I can't wait to watch this video.
I had an old guy with his teenage son next to me and my friend who used to work on a range elsewhere. The dude sees me loading mags in the empty stall and says "you know you can use a speed loader". I said yeah I know it's in my bag because I was was working on finger strength and speed loading by hand. He was confused.
It’s power. Even the smallest amount of power will corrupt anyone who has never been a leader or in a position of authority before. That guy with the stopwatch is in charge for the first time in their life. It’s a bigger deal to them than anyone else. All ego driven. Their love of self more than the love of others. Pray for them.
CSB time regarding range nah-tsees. My sub pulled into Faslane Naval Base in Scotland about the time a lot of the post 9/11 changes were taking effect. Part of this included arming the nuclear operators (because nothing says "national security" more than giving guns to a bunch of 19-25 year old autistic kids). Our weapons department coordinated with the Brits to get some range time to get us qualified on the Mk 60 and M16. The only rule they gave us was "try to keep under three round bursts." Thanks to the combination of alphabetical order and my last name, I was up first on the Mk 60. I shot competition smallbore for years, and have a very set routine for shooting from prone. So I'm laying there behind the 60, walking through my routine in my head as I go: "sight.... grip... aim... breathe... squeeze... breathe... follo........ wait, why is the gun still shooting? OH, SHEET! RELEASE!" The whole ordeal was maybe 3 or 4 seconds, but that was enough to stay on target, completely destroy the stand behind the target, and catch the paper on fire from the tracers. Weps guy was laughing his ass off, calling me an "effin nuke" among other things, and telling me to get up and get back. Not 15 more seconds later, a humvee skids to a stop in the parking lot and an British MP jumps out shouting "WHAT IN BLOODY HELL ARE YOU COWBOY YANKS DOING?" Thanks to my couple second burst, the Brits decided that we were no longer welcome on their range.
Totally agree with this!!!! Why do they exist!!! Last week I got yelled at for tipping up my glasses because the humidity fogged them up and I couldn’t see. TWO OF THEM came over to yell at me. I said would you much rather me send a round without being able to see? Ugh!!!!
Well I’d never approach someone doing that, but the proper thing to do would be to clear the weapon, put it down then adjust your glasses. No ones perfect tho, that’s why I avoid public ranges
As a little kid, when tagging along with my dad during elk season, I remember campfire debates, say on .270 vs 30-06. The next year it might be .308 vs 7mm mag. As I got older, I realized most of them were full of bull. But gun guys will always argue. Not necessarily a bad thing. As long as we all agree on critical importance of the 2nd Amendment, it's all good.
Everybody always argue about anything because that's a human nature. That's all about dominance and prevalence. Some people argues not because they are right and want some better solutions but because they want to establish their dominance and prevalence no matter what's that all about. And no matter what the real outcome will be. The more ridiculous and sensless matter of argue the more probable that its real goal is the subjugaton and obedience of others.

You fellas have one of the most fun "gun" channels on RU-vid or any other platform I frequent. I try to watch every video I can, especially Gun Gripes. Great Job. I look forward to many, many more videos. 👍
I really don't enjoy myself at public ranges. I got literally yelled at when I had a squib round. I didn't have it cleared when cease fire flag came out. I racked the rifle with the bullet puller still in the barrel, muzzle loader. I went straight to the guy in charge and told him my puller wouldn't get the bullet pulled. I had the nipple unscrewed and had syringed water in to wet the powder. That wasn't good enough for him, he acted like I had endangered the lives of everybody there. I do admit it was a wet day.
. This is why I love the shooting range in Okeechobee County, FL. They have a "Welcome to the range. Full-auto, suppressed, and rapid fire is over there. Everyone else, over there. Have a great time." mentality. Well worth the hour drive (for me) to get too. .
Makes me think I'm lucky to be able to walk up on the hill from my house where I can shoot all day and no one bothers me I feel bad for people who have to deal with public ranges if anyone ever needs a place to shoot near me I would be happy to let anyone warm up their gun everyone should try to give each other a place to shoot where they don't have to fear judgment
The only problem is dumbasses with guns who like to flag everyone on a loaded chamber. A friend of mine is bad about it. Even after saying something about to him 3+ times he doesnt know how to keep a barrel pointed away from others and there's no way I'll willingly be around him with a loaded gun again. Don't get me wrong he is the nicest guy and wouldn't intentionally hurt anyone who isn't a serious threat. But the barrel discipline he does not possess freaks me out. Kind of a liability.
THANK YOU for addressing this. I am fed up with getting the stankeye from snobs who think "An autosear doesn't belong in a Tac-13." (Disclaimer: it's a joke, fedboi.)
The drama at my range seems to revolve around one person who's kind of a range nazi, they complain about everything anyone does. Now we can't shoot .50bmg 338Lapua because it ruins the grass too much.
Is that in the midlands of South Carolina? Groundskeeper geezer at one of the larger, more well-known, ranges is sooo damn anal. Total rule Nazi, whether one of the many the range has or one he just pulled out of his butt. If you go to shoot there during the week when he is working, you will be contacted by him for some wrong you have committed, real or imagined.
Yes, watching this and reading the comments, I couldn't help thinking about how anytime it is mentioned in a comment on a board or a video, that you can program a GMRS, MURS, Marine, or land mobile, channel into many VHF/UHF transceivers, some dork has to show everybody how smart they are ('nt) and remind us that doing so with non type-accepted gear is a violation of FCC rules.
That would be a great video. While the gun community has gotten better I still see things that could be done better. For example I often see people get made fun of or talked down to just because they have a question or get something wrong. It pushes people away for sure.
@imgladandrewgillumisnotmykang Or that other guy who only owns revolvers and gripes about everything, who will remain nameless so he doesn't get views on his YT channel.
You guys are my favorite people, I wish I could be on a gripe video one day that would be freaking awesome man. I'm 22 from Wisconsin and I spread your words about 2A knowledge
Awesome gripe..... About 4 weeks ago I had an entire shop jump on my back. I had the NERVE of asking for a 1911 in 22LR, the fuds and ex navy seals jumped me. The funniest was last Friday, I went to my shooting club and I was using my new 1911 in 22LR. An ex navy seal tactical Supreme commander said " I'm just gonna be mad if you hit me with one of those". Great video
Had the same here when I bought a 380 black label. People telling me that the 380 is not strong enough to kill someone. Instructors as well and I laugh at them. It's all about shot placement ! Trying to tell me that it won't go through clothes is redicoulous.
I have a GSG 1911-22. It originally had some issues with standard velocity ammo. But an upgraded recoil assembly fixed that. It's fun to shoot. And I can let "gun shy" people shoot it, with no worries. For many people, a .22 caliber firearm was their gateway into the 2A community. Those chest-thumping spec-ops wannabes need to understand that.
You guys don't need to "tighten up" the show. It's great as is, love the off topic rants! Is that coffee mug even legal? Looks kinda like one of those high capacity assault mug
I've been to a public range one time. The experience lousy. Just one example, the RO told me his open sighted 1911 would shoot 1 inch groups at 100 yds! What a putz. I thought about betting him a hundred bucks I could outshoot him with his own gun.. Yeah, when you're used to country boy shooting, public ranges suck.
15:02 - I agree, it's not just the 2A community. I think it's society in general. For example, people have commented on my videos asking if my project car is road legal. Why do they care? If it wasn't road legal (which it is), do they plan to turn me in to the DMV? Or are they just being nosy?
I really enjoy it when yall get off topic ...tell stories....I think we need more of that !!! topic points !? Like it's called gun gripes! NOT let's make a chart, spreadsheet, power point.....so we can stay on topic and understand ...that's why I listen to ya cu it's like shooting the shit ...with buddies
I look forward to these Gun Gripes, doing some live ones in the future would be pretty awesome! This is without question some of the best content on you tube!
So I can agree with this at the outset, BUT here's my caveat. When you have a person just ripping rounds at a banner sized target and bullet strikes are all over, and they're just making noise and hitting the ceiling, that's not ok. If you rapid fire and hit your target, fine. I was at an indoor recently teaching my mother to shoot her AR, she kept flinching horribly while these idiots were rapid firing a .300 BLK and hitting the ceiling. So I brought out my 10.5 with a brake and taught them the true meaning of loud, and after that they stopped. Rapid fire is fine. But if you're being an idiot and your muzzle is climbing uncontrolled, you deserve to be told to knock it off.
I love when you guys go off on tangents it's very entertaining. Great video over all, I listen to these while im at work and it helps pass the time thanks for all the content.
Chad nailed it. The hall monitor is like the twitter monitor, waiting for what he, she, or it perceives as the slightest mis-step so that the person can be immediately pounced on. These are people who never won or even survived a fight in school. This is their chance to be the big man on campus. I think.
I took my lever actions to a local range. The Range Safety Officer was nice, and seemed very welcoming. A later trip I took a lever action and an AR, and he treated me completely differently.
I once saw a "safety nazi" argument nearly devolve into a full on shootout, at a certain notoriously unsafe shooting range. Probably the most uncomfortable I had ever been around guns. Like some people have way too much ego attached into being a "hall monitor"
First time at the public range, someone yelled at me for taking my safety glasses off. It’s just one of those things that really set me off as a new gun owner. I mean officially I should be wearing them but what the hell does this random person care
The best comment I heard from a concerned glass nazi was "The military wears them for a reason". I had to say, "Yeah, out of my 12 years in, we only started wearing them to prevent damage if our trucks blew up.. What's your point?"
They would come over to my gun lane and ask me why I'm shooting "The Liberator" 3D printed gun at a gun range. My answer would be, "to practice for when I need to use it 😁"
I called the ATF FFL office and asked if a convicted felon has their rights restored if they could also obtain an FFL upon said rights being restored. They said yes
Heck yeah I’m new to this and am trying to learn. Got my first last November. I always have guys telling me what to do in the comments. My number one response to the jerks out there is.. “hey nameless coward don’t say anything here that you wouldn’t say to my face… face to face you wouldn’t say crap keyboard cowboy!”
My wife works at a place that is very micro/macro managed and they use the term "BE MINDFULL OF THIS OR THAT" and it drives her crazy because that limits free speech and free ideas!!!
A big issue I see at the public range is guys whining about getting hit with hot brass from other shooters. Dude if your that concerned and fragile dont go to a range.
I say this while at a range with anyone else there don't get sucked into your optics and forget to keep mindful of others and keep your head on a swivel not to be a negative nacy towards the others but mindful if they keep pointing the gun towards you or others you can't make others be as safe as yourself so watch out for your own safety that's all
This makes me really happy that I go to a private range. I couldn't tolerate random people questioning me. I do agree with the "much Ado about nothing" point but I think it's a testament to how far some gun owners will go to follow the law and how difficult and confusing it can be to do that. Like the guy freaking about the suppressor paperwork. He's probably just super paranoid about breaking any laws. Everybody knows they intentionally make gun laws a legal minefield. I've watched so many videos and read so much to try and be educated. I don't wanna end up in the clink because I didn't ask questions. Also don't use notes for your show. I like the format you're using. It's more realistic.
I don't like people who try to tell everyone else what to do. So many gun owners post videos bragging about their big guns while putting the smaller ones down, throwing shade on them saying things like they lack power when the truth is every caliber does what it was designed to do and the awesome 30-06 and 300 Win mag are usually more medicine than you need. No one talks about if you're shooting a deer at 100 yds or less (which is usually the case) a 30-30 is a better choice at that distance. All they say is the 30-30 is a dog, not understanding it was designed to be one dose of smokeless medium power 30 caliber medicine and that's exactly what it is. Medium power cartridges like 30-30 and 7.62x39 are usually a good choice but many gun owners snub those calibers in favor of bigger stuff they don't need which is fine with me but don't turn around and tell the rest of us our guns are too small when we're just being sensible.
There's a lot of these guys on forums. Ya ask something about a Sten, or sbr and instead of answing the question, they give you a diatribe about what is and isnt legal for a non 07/02 as if you didn't know already, and as if it has anything to do with the question.
Sometimes people do that because they are afraid that something illegal will be discussed. I have a close friend that won’t admit any knowledge of firearms on line, and he will act like he hates guns online or when talking to people he does not know. Even though he is a gun enthusiast.
@@jn71000486 do you even personally know ONE ATF agent? Even one? Most of us not that bad of guys and girls. In fact, the majority percentage of agents for alcohol and tobacco compliance cases. Not guns. Good grief
I've researched this, it appears that in some states LE does have the right to request to see stamp paperwork. However that's besides the point. We're talking about volunteer AFT agents at the range lol
