Gundam Barbatos HG Iron Blooded Orphans Review 

As somebody who has both pestered and been pestered by other people to watch various shows, I sympathize completely with Jobby's attitude. Pretty-much everything anyone has ever insisted I try RIGHT THE HELL NOW AAAAAHHHHHH has been something I've only warmed up to after a prolonged period of them not yelling in my ear about it. Give people time.

Fun fact: all of the Gundam Frames from this show are 300 years old and can still kick ass

fun fact: Barbatos is latin for bearded so it's name is bearded gundam. Barbatos Lupus means Bearded Wolf and and Barbatos Lupus Rex means Bearded Wolf King. basically this gundam has the most badass name ever and the show is A1 too

Hey Jobby, I just want to let you know that for that loose chest armor piece, it's usually very stable and has a good connection, but sometimes there's a flaw in the connection point, making it rather easy to pop off, but gluing it on would be an ideal thing. I happen to have this kit myself, but a straight-build just didn't settle well with me. I happen to have three other HG kits from the IBO line (which with those who suggested that you should watch it, I agree with them, but only when you have the time to. Luckily all 50 are on Gundaminfo's YT channel.), and I sorta went all out on them. If you're wondering which ones I grabbed, they were the Graze (standard/commander type), Barbatos Lupus, and the Barbatos Lupus Rex. Also, regarding the 1st/4th form of the Barbatos, I kinda went back to it after almost a year and did something I've never tried before, and that was battle damage via a soldering iron, and with the results I got from it, I'm pretty happy. Jobby I think your copy of Barbatos has that issue with the chest, I have been playing with mine for a year now and not once has it popped off. Or I could just be really lucky.

On the Beast Gorira review, please don't forget to mention that the shoulder cannons can be extended by sliding them outwards. So many people forget to do that in reviews.

Also, mine doesn't fall apart when I pose it, but the chest crunch is seriously loose and effectively unusable. Anyone else suffering like that?

Sorry to hear about the chest piece defect, Jobby. It happens. :'( My unit never had such problems. Take my word for it, because as my first ever gunpla kit, I abused the hell out of it. What IS loose is the friggin backpack pieces omg. Also, it's the best kit to start off my love for gunpla due to its amazing poseability! The ground and aerial poses I made with this really fueled my gunpla obsession. 8/10, would recommend!

Hey jobby do you need glue to put your gunpla kits together or does it all plug in to place? I need to know I'm getting a HG Barbados kit and I need to know before I get it

A number of major issues get fixed with the Barbatos Lupus -- however that one only has one weapon, the sword mace, and you need to get an option set to get the canons. But at least it has less stickers than the final version, the Barbatos Lupus Rex.

i have no issue with the chest on my own barbatos. And i did paint the yellow part of the shoulder pads with a gundam marker, it worked out fine.

I prefer the 1/100 Barbatos since it has less stickers and the size makes it better on the details.

could I send a 1/100 full mechanics Barbatos lupus for a review?

I've had a chance to buy this kit and I've had nothing wrong with the chest plate, it's 3-4 pieces combined that fit onto the inner frame. The only reason I think it's loose is that you may have broken/sanded down some of the connections too much.

The issues with the chest is definitely something wrong with your kit. Mine stays on fine.

I have a question. If the other weapons of barbatos example is the mace are 1/144 they can fit with your 1/100 barbatos? Thank you!

The Lupus model fixes a lot of these issues with this one. Rex brings some of it back with missing color separation and floppy weapon.

You should review the 1/100 full-mechanics kits of the IBO line, they're even more posable and the construction is fairly solid, and with the nearly identical inner-frame used in all the kits, it allows for some customization, which is always a plus.

Might wanna check if your chest piece has a production defect or something. The HG Barbatos line has generally been known to be very solid

Those issues are probably the reason why there are rumors about the IBO line are made with leftover plastic. I do have loose issues but not so much that it crumbles like that. In fact it's actually rather solid despite of the seemingly loose joints.

the best HG of season 1 are the Barbatos, the Graze, Graze Ein, and the Kimaris trooper. But is my opinion.

I do own the Barbatos, and I never had an issue with the chest piece falling off. And then i gave it a matte black paint job~

Hey jobby, this is 6 years later so not super relevant, but I picked up an HG barbatos. I have no issues with loose parts or loose joints. Its a different version, its the metallic gloss injection version. The stickers are horrendous, ended up painting it

The iron blooded orphans high grade kits are tall. Also, iron blooded orphans is with out a doubt one of the best series of gundam.

IBO was a good watch. I built this as my first model kit and have to say, besides STICKERS, it wasn't that unstable and stayed up most of the time in a bunch of different poses. Pretty solid.

IBO? The same tone as Thunderbolt? Oh Jobby, I'm so sorry you've been lied to like that. If you ever go into IBO thinking that you'll be even more disappointed than you would otherwise, believe you me. You'd be better off putting time into literally any other Gundam series.

Mine is really solid. Some very simple painting and weathering makes this kit look fantastic.

This review made me realize that I messed up building the waist of mine, I had it on backwards which made the hip swivel piece easy to fall out. So thank you Jobby, you beautiful swiveler you! Also I don't have any stability issues with my Barbatos' chest piece either so no idea what's up with yours.

Barbatos was my first module kit...that is before I had the proper tools.

It's your kit only. I agree the kit needs a LOT of paintwork Small paintwork but paintwork nonetheless The grey sections on the face, grey bits on the V-fin, grey plates on the backpack sub arm plates, Those squares on the backskirts, the toes and the bottom of the feet And the yellow stripes on the shoulders.

I've never had any problems with mine. The problems with mine though, are loose weapon racks at the back.

i got this kit recently. and after painting-its godamn beautiful. not perfect. but amazing. i'd love to see what you could do with it nowadays with a bit of paint and a topcoat (to keep it from becoming a floppy mess)

I'm guessing you snapped or just didn't plug in the tabs on the sides of the chest connecting it to the frame
