@@VexenDmitri please, this b*tch was head of a palace guard...they were all about looking good, not fighting good, despite having state of the art machines. she subscribed to a style of combat that doesnt exist outside of fairy tales. ironically, her unit actually did a hell of a lot better after Barbatos offed her...
To be fair, it's not like that was her call, but yeah, Mika's totally justified in not wanting to play their game, it's been survival for him since day one. Pride is a luxury Tekkadan can't afford on their mission to get Kudelia to her destination.
Hardly, this bitch talks about fighting fair but last time they met she attacked a mobile worker because she knew their leader was in it. Fuck her, Mikazuki is totally justified if going all out, no warning.
I love the contrast with this duel and the first one with Crank When fighting Crank, he showed actual skill, and Mika was far more respectful to him. He even replied with his name when Crank gave his own. Overall, Mika might have disliked his speeches, but showed him the due With Carta, he doesn't care. He went straight for the kill and didn't give her breathing room. For Mika, she was simply the enemy, since Gjallarhorn kept taking everything from them and now had killed Biscuit. Now it was far more personal
I'd argue that it was that Mikazuki was getting more and more aggravated with how Gjallarhorn handled itself on Earth. Crank showed the group a FUCKTON more respect than Carta did. Crank recognized them as fellow soldiers and didn't hold back. And in his final moments, he understood that they were soldiers who signed on of their own free will, not exploited children who couldn't handle themselves. Meanwhile, Carta treated them as impertinent children to be "taught some manners," no matter how many times Tekkadan handed her shit back to her on a silver platter. From start to finish, she was too busy posturing and expecting them to follow her rules of combat despite the fact that Tekkadan had never shown themselves to do stuff like that, and they had proven time and again that their will to fight demanded respect.
Crank also recognized he was fighting children, didn’t talk all high and mighty over them, and ultimately disliked that they had to get involved. Carta attacked and killed a member of their family, showed no regrets about killing a child and a member of their family, isn’t really that skillful and had the audacity to request a duel, not as equals, but from a place of superiority. Which is why crank’s duel ended swiftly and respectfully, and Carta’s was a brutal humiliation through the whole thing.
@@Double_D__ Crank is one of few opponents that Mika respected. He treated the child soldiers of Tekkadan as his equals, as warriors who fight for change, fight for hope, and fight for their own will. Crank accepted his defeat at the hands of Mika, and even his death as he can no longer go back. To the contrary, Carta was seeking to squash an easy target to boost her reputation, but Tekkadan is no easy target. She asks for an even fight when she's on the losing side, but had no problem fighting Mika 3 on 1 or destroying a mobile worker with her MS. She can't accept defeat and that's OK, then prepare to die in glory. But she can't do that either. She said "I will not accept humiliation" and then "please help me", showing that she does not have the courage corresponding to that pride.
The actual reason why he's much more aggressive here is because she had a hand at the death Biscuit Griffon, a core member of Tekkadan, who was also a dear friend and a loving brother
I'd say it'll took him around 3 to 4 minutes... Hey, cut down the talk mid fight and pretty much stop switching between everyone's point of view, it'll probably 2 minutes and 30 seconds tops. That's pretty generous for Mika and it includes margin of error on my calculations from this clip alone😂 But yes, it'll take a minute or less for him with these bunch of soldiers wanting "honor" or desired standard in a fight.😂
You know, whether this was intentional or not, this really drives home what makes Iron Blooded Orphans unique. Tekkadan is composed of working-class, 1920s-worker-inspired orphan children. To ask them to sit there and listen to some spoiled rich noblewoman’s idea of how things should be is just plain insulting.
Could you imagine if Orga betrayed Mikazuki and everyone else, and purposefully killed a few members of Tekkadan to get to their Goal and Dream of a better world for themselves and Independence for the Planets and Colonies? Now imagine how Gaelio feels.
it's not really about that. she killed one of the core members of their tekkadan. tekkadan at this point is pretty rich with backing from turbines and teiwaz. they didn't need to take the job from that old man in the train but tekkadan being tekkadan, being kids desperate to be recognized, have always ended up in a position where they have to take high risk high rewards job to get results the fastest way possible.
It was intentionally done. This was Mika's way of grieving Biscuit. He converted his grief to rage which made his fighting style even more savage than usual.
I just realize why there are waters around them is because both of their machines are smoking hot during their fight not to mention how Mika made the Graze fought hard to the edge and the machine went hot enough to melt the ice around them And the Impact that Mika made basically turned it into a pool
@@DarthDungus I mean it’s war, the same could be said about Mika and the others killing her men too, I don’t blame Mika though for charging them and killing them while they were off guard, it’s not some game after all
This was incredible. From barbatos stomping that one guard to the fact that mika was going to kill carta with her own blade. So overkill but I love it.
Yeah, I was especially amused by the moron who, with an enemy MS wielding a BIGASS club charging them, thought it would be a good idea to step FURTHER AWAY FROM HIS COCKPIT AND START SHOUTING! That guy got what he deserved, for sure.
not to mention biscuit got KIA by Carta and her pliots and he was the moral compass, that caused Tekkaden go on a revenge crazy mood but especially Mikazuki.
"I wanted to fight fair and square, or else it wouldn't suit me." Said by a true coward when they're at a disadvantage. If SHE had the advantage, she'd be singing a different tune.
@@chrishill3536 Crank actually got his one-on-one duel and he upheld his end of the bargain even when he lost. Unfortunately, Ein then tarnished Tekkadan's opinion of Crank by attacking them in an effort to avenge Crank, thus causing Tekkadan to believe that Crank had lied to them. Had Crank been alive at that point I'm fairly sure he'd have been furious at Ein for daring to disrespect the results of an honorable duel by interfering like he did.
I think Orphans does something better than any other Gundam shows do. They convey the scene of scale and weight of the mobile suits really well. From the animation to the sound effects to the visual effects, for the first time I actually feel like these are giant 18 meter mechas clashing away at each other.
I think the reason being is that, the Gundams of this series are in a way, less advance compared to the other series. It was stated that, GMs are even more advance and stronger than Grazes and with the right pilot, can even go toe to toe with a gundam frame... The only hightech hardware IBO for mobile suits are the ahab reactors, which are difficult to mass produce, and the AV system, which outside of Gallarjhorn, is nearly impossible to reproduce, everything else is close to our current level of technology which is why compared to 00 gundams, they move more realistically.. plus i think because animation has improved hahaha
The ones in wing also did this well, especially when you see the tall geese or the heavyarms fight in close combat. (though the tall geese is literally a pair of thrusters with a gundam hanging on for dear life so... Yeah)
@@Maramara13Fly where and who said that cause honestly I don't think it's that much of a gap between the two mobile suit lines. Plus if their nano laminate armor works with their beam weapons like with the hashimal, gms don't have as much of an edge as others would think with beam weaponry.
@@Tallgeese03 I dunno. At that point I would rather have him in his right mindset. Controlled kills never felt right to me because at that point I would rather enjoy it myself than have to rely on essentially "Press X to win" moments. (This is just my opinion by the way)
The fact that Mika is only 15 in the series and has always fought on the frontline like a savage devil really makes me love him and Barbatos even more.
Children sadly are among the most effective soldiers you can have because they have not fully developed and are not quite able to hold back on inhibitions especially if they were raised to be soldiers. It's what makes the series more jarring, they are dangerous BECAUSE they are child soldiers.
@@thereaper6061 he is 15 in season 1, where this fight takes place. After fighting Graze Ein, there is a 2 year time skip between season 1 and 2 (The spin off game Urdr Hunt takes place during this), Mika is 17 when he gets Lupus.
Headcannon: the gundam frames have some lvl of ai from mobile armors and like a cursed weapon crave combat and death So i think barbatos and mika were in sinc here and just wanted to finish there prey
01:11 - 01:13 That’s so casually brutal it’s almost comical! Listen closely and watch the background snow behind Barbatos as he turns after executing the attack to face his next target. Hear that little faint splatting sound and see something hit the snow back there? That’s whatever is left of the idiot with honor that was standing OUTSIDE his mecha who basically took the brunt of Barbatos hammer unprotected. Yeah that’s gonna be a closed casket funeral. If they can scoop up enough of him to even justify a casket...
The detail of the water dripping down the face of Barbatos, like if it was crying, is just incredible. The sounds of the metal clashing in the background too. So well done.
She clearly NEVER been into a mobile suit battle for long. War in general is NEVER about fair and square and most people are not honorable. Even then it totally justify for Mika action. He's already a cold fighter but you pretty much get rekt for getting him emotional (Biscuit death). Also time was running out for them and you expect them to played her game by allowing the 30 minutes prep time??? I also appluse him for wanting to get rid of her for good since that is a common fault troupe in Gundam by allowing the enemy to lived only for it to hunt their arse in the future like Flit in Gundm AGE.
Well, she was in charge of the earth defense space fleet. Pirates and the such stay away from Earth. McGillis, Gaelio, and the such were the one's constantly fighting.
Note: carta i considered one of the weakest She rely on numbers rather than herself The fact that she only managed to destroy a mobile worker rather than a mobile suit Shes dead from the start
@@defalt2838 I mean they did hammer home that her position was relatively soft. The Outer Earth Orbit Regulatory Joint Fleet are basically a fleet of showboats who's only seen simulated combat and have never cut their teeth in real battle. The only opponents they'd face are pirates and pirates want soft targets and would never engage a fleet of battlships. So most of their training was basically ritual at this point.
She's the type of general that learned everything from books and got her position through family... I think Issues were an influential family in Gallarjhorn.. She never got to see real combat as she was just stuck in her outer orbit space station unlike mcgillis and gaelio..
Despite being more of a "massacre" than a fight,it still is a damn good one. Gjallarhorn has really crossed the line by killing one of Mika's good friend,Biscuit. So now,Mika has had enough of them(especially Carta). This is the first time where he fought by his own will instead of being ordered to do so,just shows how pissed he is. Plus, the battle theme is as godlike as ever, perfectly fits this fight. I also like the little detail of Barbatos "crying"(on 4:50)due to the melted ice on its eye. It's a cool little detail that while Mika may seem fine from the outside but from the inside, just like the others,he is grieving Biscuit's death as well and this fight really proves it even more. Man,this scene is so damn good.100/10
I love that tiny little thudd we hear at 1:12 of that dudes body hitting the ground. And the little red spot we see in contrast to the snow really drives the point home here on just how savage (in a good way) mika was here.
Carta: Considering the setup times, we will wait 30 minutes. Mikazuki: Considering how pissed off I am with you killing Biscuit, I will wait 30 seconds.
One very important rule to learn about Gundam Battles, and battles in general Since enemies will rarely have the courtesy of striking one at a time, *so why should you* ;)
Let's face it this platoon of clowns deserved every stupid moment they had, from the island landing where they stood lined up to declare their arrival and intentions only for one of them to take heavy dmg to the head unit and then this display of 'intimidate' the enemy by standing OUTSIDE ur unit to bait them into ur little ritualistic duel...
I love the little poof of snow and red stain after that guy went flying. The cold & swift kills are my fav. More emotional when you get to think about how easily Mika kills.
well Carta's Graze Ritter didn't have a red cloth on its arm on Tarawa (the Island they were on) so she never had the intention to challenge anyone to a ""duel" on Tarawa and besides the fighting on Tarawa was a pure military operation not a useless attempt to fix Carta's bruised ego as was the case on the railway tracks.
Barbatos is just as brutal and efficient as the Wing Suits. I missed something demonic and scary like barbatos or WZ/Epyon troughout the whole 00 - series. Mika is great.
*Whiny Sympathizer fan base*: "What!? That's breaking the rules of war! That's dishonorable! It's... it's unfair!" *Me*: So, what are you saying, then? Death isn't fair?
Generally speaking, Gallahjorn pretty much caused a war, a secret war, against tekkadan in the first place, so everything in war is fair. Even when you try to fight fairly, but received a different outcome.
I love the idea of honorable duels in anime. However, since Crank's death, IBO makes it clear that in this universe, honor during war is a death sentence and brutality, though unfair, is a great way to go.
@@alifpaltasya3821 I believe that the most common thing that people use is that rustal and idiok where like o tekkadan is using some railgun weapon (that in further inspection it's not illegal I believe that chocolate man said that the flauros was in a gray zone as long as the weapon didn't get an upgrade) so yeah let's use the exact same weapon that we make illegal on civilian (the turbines) and then let's use it on tekkadan because our soldiers on Mars are completely useless
The way this show conveys its feelings through fights is amazing. The moment Barbatos came to massacre what's left of Carta's squad made me feel angry in a good way. You can feel the thirst for revenge and anger the way Mikazuki went wild with its fighting style. God, I love this series so much
Kind of funny that Carta was still grandstanding on dueling. When they atacked the small island they landed, proclaimed loudly who they are and one of Tekkadan MS blasts at them confusedly saying "It's ok to shoot right?" which makes Carta screech.
3:54 Damn. Her sad feeling is understandable. She saw them as children that should be kept away from war, but from the reaction they show that they have hatred and revenge in their heart.
still getting goosebumps on Mikazuki, just pure Ideology and Bloodlust plus revenge on his buddy getting killed, not my personal favorite Gundam series but Mika is my favorite MS pilot ever imagine giving him an OP MS like Strike Freedom
It sounds cool on paper, but I don't think Mika would like Strike Freedom. That is definitely a ranged combat MS and Mika is not a ranged combat type of guy. Barbatos is perfect for him. Nah, if we wanna talk about guys who would do work in the SF, we gotta start with Amuro.
To me this fight stands out from other anime because the characters don’t stand around talking for 30 minutes. Mikazuki just goes straight for the jugular. Even an anime that claim to be more realistic they tend to have an Excessive amount of flourish. This fight is just quick and brutal and I find that to be refreshing.
I haven't really given this show a chance. Obviously that was a mistake cuz holy shit this was amazing and hilarious! HE WHO STRIKES FIRST, MUTHAFUKKAAAAAAA
It starts off alright, but it does get a lot better throughout, and it's easy to keep up with the story, unlike a certain show beforehand *cough*G-Reco*cough*
striker0 Ugh G-Reco. I gave that show a chance but the dialogue was just too awkward. Idk if it was bad subtitles/translation or what, but as soon as Bellri said "Stop being pirates!" while launching randomly, I was done. Like seriously what?
The Barbatos Gundam itself had a variety of weapons. A Mace that can shoot a little punch in the center, a cannon, a katana and a few upgrades from enemy scraps.
and in season 2 Barbatos (Now called Barbatos Lupus) will have one broadsword for his main weapon, and i guess later in the series he'll have two arm attachment guns,an assault rifle (not the same one he uses in season 1),2 mini maces (apparently) and a Cloud Strife-like Sword
yeap, the Barbatos's moves are brutal fits its name quite well :) Barbatos is the duke of Hell, ruling thirty legions of demons and has four kings as his companions to command his legions.
Mikazuki is my favorite Gundam Pilot because he combines the rational thought process most people should have about combat and his raw offensive badassery
So tragic how Merribit Stapleton is trying to protect their innocence and not let them see her get killed but because they were all child mercenaries their innocence was taken from them along time ago
The way the pilot hit the ground and went splat just being nothing more than a faint patter like a rain drop really drives in the scale of these things lol
This is one of the few animes where realism is actually high. People die heros or villains doesn't matter. Even this scene- if it were a movie or something else, there would be a long unnecessary dialogue between the two parties, which is just stupid when you are so full of anger. This anime gives me a lot of AOT vibes thanks to the high octane action, realism and intelligent story
I think thats one thing i really about IBO, it takes events and other actions seriously. The moment Tekkadan finished their jobs (both bringing Kudelia and escorting the Old man) they got recognize as a strong and fearsome group... however it also made Human Debris/Child Soldiers become far more common due to the whole group being 90% children or teens.
as if her idea wasn't bad enough, she was accompanied by two geniuses who instead of being *inside* the giant robot providing cover decided to stand outside, completly open to ambushes or surprise attacks.
Want a dignity, yet killing enemy in mobile worker, fair and square yet choose to outnumbered enemy, yet in verged of death.. she playing victim.. she already stained her dignity anyway with how she trying to achieved it
She says she wants to fight fair and square when Mika attacked them right in front of them in a three on one and in the end it became a one v one, when you issue a challenge normally your prepared so that’s on her that Mika was just already ready to fight
