I remember unlocking Gungnir in Halo 4 after an INSANE grind. I love the set, probably one of the few GEN2 variants that kept a spark of the original trilogy's style.
Security is based on a character from the marathon games but it's always been one of my favorite sets Makes your head a giant bullseye for snipers though lol
This option really won't win but I'll throw it out anyway. The Accord combat Harness and Helioskrill armor are interesting for being Human-designed armor for Elites and Elite-designed armor for Spartans respectively. I think it would be cool to cover them together.
Thanks 00, I appreciate you actually making Halo content without resorting to the click baity, 'the-end-is-nigh-for-halo' that some of the other youtubers have. You sir help me keep the passion alive.👍🙏🤝😃
I feel like the VISR automatically darkens when the laser is about to fire do to the smart link system. The helmet would actually help non Spartans fire the laser without the whole armor and arguments. I think. Love the breakdowns!
2011 - saw GUNGNIR in one of the many, many forge hangout sessions my friends and I hosted. We’d just spam invite all recent players and at that time in gaming people would actually join. One of them was wearing GUNGNIR, this was way just after they had first released the “titled” ranks after military ones, so it was crazy to see. I’ll always remember the moment I realized the visor was a simple, tiny circle.
Personally I had always managed that GUNGNIR was an armor created for snipers in that while it didnt increase strength nearly as much nor was it as durable instead it would make it up by having some sort of advanced targeting system to make FAR more accurate shots due to the fact the spear Gungnir in mythology was a spear that never missed when it was thrown but this is cool as well, Interesting lore on the spartan laser as well
Hope to see the lore behind the CBRN design and the chemical/biological threats they were introduced to/made for and how effective is it in a flood spore rich environment
technically the Spartan Laser should blind unshielded eyes, so anyone unlucky enough to not be wearing UNSC issued protective glasses is going to have a bad day.
@Installation00 I have a request on the next Armory/most detailed breakdown video, although I doubt it'll ever happen due to the obscurity of the weapon in question and the minimal information there is about it (but it'd make for an interesting "mini-breakdown" video of sorts). I'd love you to do a most detailed breakdown on the Hard Sound Rifle mentioned in I love bees. Furthermore, hope you're having a great day. Love the content, bringing this amazing universe closer to real life!
I wonder if the armoured faceplate can be removed, or perhaps it gets automatically ejected, if the camera is destroyed. Maybe there is a secondary lens that can take over if the primary is damaged or destroyed so there's minimal loss of combat effectiveness.
More than likely a removable piece, it would fit with how customizable Mjolnir seems to be overall. I'm pretty sure the interior view of the helmet at the start of Reach is also the same as all other helmets except Haunted, showing a regular visor underneath (considering the Haunted helmet has a skull added, GUNGNIR having the same interior is likely not an oversight). 343 certainly seems to see it that way at least, considering they removed the GUNGNIR helmet entirely and reduced it to a mere addon for a Mk-VII helmet.
@@zero1libra20 i don't have Halo Infinite, I'm mostly interested in the lore, speculative and otherwise. My question was from a real world perspective, if a wearer was to lose shields and then take a shot directly into their camera (which would blind the user) would the now useless Gungnir faceplate be able to be removed either manually with some kind of tool (a bit dangerous the circumstances), a neural lace command (might take too long in combat, but probably fine considering Spartan reflexes), automatically with some user oversight (more or less a quick "yes" to *eject faceplate?*), or completely automatically (*no camera input detected, ejecting faceplate*) removing itself from the base helmet allowing the user to return to combat effectiveness? Personally I think it would be completely automatic, if at all possible, which it probably is.
@@andrewbutton2039 If you look at the Stormfall helmet, and how it's a modification for that helmet, your theory does hold some basis, especially if 343 allows us to add more than one customization to our helmets. Despite how.. Odd the Stormfall helmet looks, I do believe it stands surprisingly strong, especially as a basis for 'Gugnir' mods, as a sort of specialist helmet if you will, much like the Firefall helmet being part of a set that's literally meant to hotdrop a spartan, without a drop pod. Does it make it a good 'Gugnir' helmet? Maybe, maybe not? It's just part of the family, even if it's able to more easily be swapped out, especially if it's easier to replace than to repair, considering what's going on with the UNSC and Gen 3 platform.
This was always my favorite set. But I can’t help but ask: Who actually used this armor set and any of the other sets throughout the halo universe? It feels like most canon images, videos, cutscenes etc show Spartans wearing the same “default” sets. And there are apparently more armor sets than confirmed Spartans
We wouldn't see a 1 microsecond laser. I tried with a 40 watt unit and it doesn't mean like in halo. The pulse there is about 300 milliseconds. Just wondering how the blast rate does not add up in time difference. Please could you elaborate
So the point of having no visor was because the systems in a visor wouldn't have the time to fully polarize before the Spartan Laser is fired. But don't the weapons and hud systems link to each other? Why wouldn't they just sync the weapon to tell the hud system when to polarize? I just solved the problem. Lol
As a Halo fan this was by far the most awesome, correction kick ass video. I wonder if hidden Experia was laughing as hard as I was with his face suddenly showing up on the game footage? Since anyone that knows him would know his love for this lore. Just so much was put into this video. Was just phenomenal and very informative. The Halo music made it that much more better. I am going to watch this again just for the whole experience. As a old content creator used to say smurfy I'm going to fire my lazor!!!!!!! Lol
@@Installation00 Hey installation 00 great for you to respond to my response. Actually no his name is Smurfy from Great Britain. His line when he was firing the spartan Lazer was this line from Halo reach videos. I'm not sure if he has made any videos anymore but he made gta5 and halo reach videos. I was laughing so hard sometimes. When GTA5 driving in traffic in this game was nothing short of craziness and his reactions to this craziness was how this game made him and other whom play it crazy. Why does that sound so familiar? Driving almost anywhere in heavy traffic. Thanks for the video and the great content.
I still have no idea why 343 decided to make the Gungir helmet design an attachment for Mark VII (especially if the shoulder pads are in the Winter Update Battle Pass).
GUNGIR was one of my favorite looking sets in Reach, especially the helmet with the rebreathers. Only managed to unlock the first helmet on my 360 before falling off the Xbox entirely, but I'm so glad unlocking stuff in MCC is easier.
Not much of a Gungnir fan myself, but the video was in-depth and highly intriguing. Makes me appreciate the helmet more. (And I gotta admit, I like Installation 01's rendition of the helmet.)
I’m interested in hearing about CQC armor, Grenadier armor, Scout armor, Security armor and/or Commando armor. I’d say you do which ever you are most interested in and I’m sure you’ll get to all of these eventually but of all the different variants these are the ones I’m the most interested in. I apologize for not being particularly specific but I can’t choose any specific one over the other because I like all these variants.
So technically only Gungnir Spartans can use the Spartan Laser? How does that work for ODSTs and other Spartans? Also the Spartan Laser was used a good bit before the Fall of Reach I thought
Gungnir was made so be more comparable with the Spartan laser, but I'm sure some software and hardware updates after reach to specialized units allow them to be compatible with the weapon as well
Gen 2 Gungnir is one my most favourite Spartan armours ever, probably because I got a flaming Mega Bloks Warthog years ago that had a red and a yellow one.
Thank you for this, I took quite a shine to the helmet in Reach. I'd love to see a breakdown of Scout and Recon and how the two were basically joint projects.
@@kennyburkamp4054 Still can't recreate any Reach Spartans that used the GUNGNIR helmet nor make a full suite of GUNGNIR-class armour, nor can you change it from that stock grey colour. Good as it may look, the flaws of the Infinite incarnation are pretty serious. Also, has none of the proper Reach-style markings or decals (but that can be said of _all_ the Mk-V[B] armour).
I think a detailed breakdown of Scout would make for a good video because of its shady origin, it doesn’t get the love it deserves. It’s cousin Recon gets all the hype 😭
I think the main reason it worked better in Reach was that it was a novelty there, being that one oddity amongst a sea of regular helmets allowed it to stand out as the exception to the norm. The 343 games watered it down with all the knockoffs and all the variants that pretty much boiled down to "GUNGNIR, but the lines go in a different direction". Also, the art style. Can't forget the art style.
