That such amazing story and beautiful not every country have it in usa or others countries specialty in the new world (mostly America's) those countries are Young too much to such thing and don't exist such poemsy culture like Asians countries have. I honestly prefer the look of Japanese ships over American ones from that era. The Japanese had some of the most advanced ships in the world, and it definitely showed!
They were not intended to be used to fight to the death with Amerika. But FDR had other plans. Yamato & Musashi were beautiful machines that should have deterred aggression against Japan. The goal was to get Amerika to negotiate, not a fight to death. IJN was world's largest and strongest in 1941

I would say the new Mogami-Class Frigates incorporate the aesthetic traditions you mention, just updated to accommodate today's new technologies. In the same way steamships displaced sail ships, the Mogami Class displaces those prior gunships.
Yamamoto and the Navy High Command never wanted this war, he knew what would happen when the USA got into high gear, because he saw it when he was assigned to the IJ diplomatic service in Washington DC in the twenties.

For some reason the movie "Midway" showed fleets of B-26's attacking Kudo Buta as bombers. In fact there were only 4 and all made low level torpedo runs and most were shot down.
No, the Japanese battleships would have also performed very well in a surface engagement. What the IJN failed to realize was that at this time, maritime warfare had switched to aircraft carrier based fleets. The IJN Battleships could not get within range of a carrier.
The Japanese pioneered aircraft carrier strike group. Too bad their lacked radar, sophisticated technologies, encryption, production capability, resources and economy to compete with the U.S. Their navy were very good for the time.
@@KeiwaM Even so, their surface combatants were far too specialized for a war they couldn't fight: Small, pitched engagements against American forces where the Japanese could gain a local superiority. But by the time they stopped frantically chasing a decisive battle, any American warship at sea far outstepped its Japanese equivalent. Also, numbers. The Japanese had 8 battleships. The USN had 24 - AFTER Pearl Harbor.
The warships were perfectly fine, and they were ahead of the curve when it came to carrier aircraft at the time of Pearl Harbor. But between a bizarre submarine doctrine (a bit less bizarre when the last point is considered), having their codes cracked, and having far worse production than the US at the outset of war, let alone as it went on, meant that short of intimidating the US population into pressuring the leadership to sue for peace they had no chance. And they were actually pretty well aware of this and banked on the US citizenry being cowardly. American prejudices about the Japanese being "uncreative" lead to us being surprised at Pearl Harbor, but we could correct for that. Japan couldn't so easily correct for their mistake in thinking the US a cowardly nation.

hate to break it to ya but literally while every other navy in the world at the time was using radar to aim their guns the Japanese aside from Musashi and Yamato were using dye packets to help aim instead of radar.

Well a certain Mr Kaiser is partially to thank for that. The USN's ability to produce the Essex class so rapidly certainly shortened the war considerably. Then again even if both sides had only possessed Battleships; the result would've been the same. (the IJN having several years of dominance; before a swarm of RN & USN Capital Ships struck back)
The Japanese did better with fleet torpedo boats (destroyers with torpedo armament emphasized), but overall I think the Fletcher swarm was better technologically and doctrinally. Japanese battleships were also largely inferior to American BB's qualitatively and in numbers.
Japan had the fastest cruisers with the most firepower, just not the RADAR to coordinate it all.The extra firepower made them a little top heavy and all Japanese ships had far too much wood in them - which burned. Not sure how many it made the difference of losing the ship maybe a few.
@@gendaminoru3195 I think that both type of ships have there downsides and upsides. I actually like Japanese cruisers but I just think that overall the U.S cruisers were built just a bit better. But the Japanese cruiser are still a worthy opponent to any U.S cruiser
@@Dashypuu I what way did you believe the US cruisers were superior to Japanese cruisers? other than metacentric height I cannot think of anything other than RADAR. It wasn't torpedo capability, it wasn't main gun or secondary firepower, it wasn't length to beam ratio, it wasn't speed, it wasn't cruising radius, and it wasn't maneuverability. It was obviously RADAR that Japan didn't yet believe in until they were already built - some were retrofitted. Not only did they mistrust surface search but also air search and fire control RADAR wasn't a thing for Japan yet. It proves they didn't have a functioning espionage program like the US had on them.
Japanese they are good at warships on that time but the things that make their ships bad is AA guns if they have a such of good or a better AA guns (and a bit thicker armour fighter planes) on that time in Battle of Midway they will lose only 2-3 cariers instend of 4 (sorry if i wrong somethings my English dosen't the best)
It is a requiem called Umi Yukaba, a quasi-national anthem of Japan. It is customary to perform it at the same time as GUNKAN MACHI, which is originally a different song from GUNKAN MACHI. And this theme is still played by the JMSDF till this day. As far as i know, the lyrics were changed after the war, but it is the same theme. If the Japanese Parliament is willing to adjust for Article 9 then you might see more new rise navy ship for the Japanese Self-Defence Navy forces in later years ahead due to the aggressiveness by China’s Navy on the East Asia territory.

@@charlesjakesamadan4008 What would America do with an obsolete battleship? Japan needed the scrap iron more than America. It would have been a waste of fuel oil to bring it back to America. Besides, there was nothing on the Yamato that was worth two cents--its technology was useless. All it ended up doing was being good for target practice--the US Navy obliterated it in a one sided battle.
