I love how close you got to making something like the breda. I've been inspired to try to make a goblin and a breda for some mobile suit skirmish kondo inspired forces.

Zimmerit does actually make a degree of sense on mobile suits. For historical comparison, Germans invented Zimmerit as a counter to magnetic anti-tank mines. But it was ultimately discontinued due to false flammability reports and the fact that no one else was using magnetic mines. Zeon also used strips of magnetic mines against mobile suits and battleships.... and of course, the federation never did because they just developed beam weapons instead.

Definitely! That's why Kondo's style worked out for the believe-ability aspect to a specific degree in his interpretations of MS. It's just that the premise of having imaginary bi-pedal robots moving at the pace they do on Earth's gravity is a different story haha

Phenomenal video. I'm very happy that Kondo's work is starting to get a bit more appreciation in the new generation of modellers. I always say, the best praise for a video is if you want to copy the techniques you've just seen and you definitely succeeded at that!

Thanks Neon! A lot of B-Club books back then showcased kondo's old-school techniques, it just felt right in his style. This was back when modelling tools were fairly limited too. Thinking outside the box and using mundane tools is an amazing way to approach building.

@@HayHayWorkshop @HayHay WorkShop Oh man, if you ever get chance, a video showing any extra techniques from those books would be great. I really appreciate the 'old way' of doing things. Gundam Sentinel's modelling book has this really great section at the back with some more of the traditional techniques as well.

Great work! I've only really just got into Gunpla, from Ma.K. Initially, I never really liked the cartoony style of Gundam kits, but then found the Kobayashi and Kondo style and it just hit. I've been using Milliput for the zimmerit and it's not easy to use!

I have to admit, I had my doubts on the paint when you started but the end product is amazing. Very "panzer" like. The leg on the sideskirt hack is also a great way to get the dynamic pose without much finaggling on the waist. Interesting and lovely techniques for a static model build. Picked up a few ideas.

I literally have came back 5 times and rewatched this! I’m still building my 1988 hg geara doga and I’m doing a similar build to this. It’s a pain in the ass with the terrible mold lines and no parts separation but I think it will be cool. Thanks for the inspiration.

Just recently found your Channel enjoyed watching this video and see how you created something new from something old I was just wondering have you ever thought about getting a 3D printer to print parts an odds-and-ends that way you could make even more one-of-a-kind gunpla hopeful that spelled right

Thank you for your support! I am currently learning about 3D Printing and other methods to solve geometric problems. I would definitely use 3D Printing for future projects but currently, I have a lot of model kit parts at my disposal. I build with what I have, at least for now.

Did you say that Mr Color paints are toxic, then cut to having paint all over your fingers? You should probably wear gloves when using non-acrylic paints. Not sure if that's enamel or lacquer, but neither seems good to have on your skin.

That's a good point! Though I was more talking about the smell and the lack of ventilation. A little hand painting session with some paints on my hands once every 3 months or so is definitely no big deal to me xD

They're actually non-toxic. But they have a bit of a strong smell to them. They're solvent-based acrylics. The solvent being alcohol.

@@wolfehoffmann2697 Good to know! An artist friend was telling me how nasty the pigments in non-student oil paint can be, and it's made me a lot more leery.
