Thanks for sharing this video. I took my wife to visit the museum. I wish for people like James Monroe they would build a much larger on somewhere. However, for the historical significance of the current location it is fine right where it is at.
OMG what have they done?? The back is missing the boxwood maze...my little brother and I would spend hours running the maze..The grounds were beautiful. They had an annual car show that my Dad entered every year..I'm upset
Another fantastic video Chris! You're drone footage is outstanding! As always! Love it! I found Gunston Hall very hard to get to because of all the traffic in the area, but no matter. It's a fantastic Plantation to visit and tour. As a side note if you didn't know, Gen. Robert E. Lee's older brother, Smith Lee (A U. S. Naval Officer and then a Confederate Naval Officer), was married to George Mason IV's granddaughter. I don't recall if that fact is mentioned in the museum at Gunston Hall. Speaking of the Lee Family, this also reminds me of Ravensworth Plantation which was in Fairfax County. Ravensworth Plantation has a long and fascinating history, which includes Robert E. Lee's family, that I believe you will find of great interest. Ravensworth no longer stands but its legacy lives on. Thanks again for another great history lesson and video. I follow your adventures with a great deal of interest. Best Regards, The old guy in Southern Maryland
Ok no I didn't know that about R.E. Lee's brother. Thanks for sharing. Yea I'm famillier with Ravensworth. Hoping to do a video on it in the near future.
It is a shame that Carter's Grove plantation is no longer open to the public. It is considered the finest brick Georgian mansion in America. I was surprised that Colonial Williamsburg sold it.
