Oh yes, this Is all this anime Is about: *Piercing through the heavens, defeating everything on their way with a scream from the underground.* [or something accurate x]
And the thing is. The pacing is still amazing. This anime is perfect In every way. It breaks a lot of the true stereotypes about anime and is perfect for that.
Honestly its dope how they talk about spiral dynamics, this is the only piece of media that I've ever seen go into that topic and go into the key concepts in a digestable way, theres a book about it with the same name, yall should check it out its a good read
I mean I always saw it as Kamina essentially becoming a Force Ghost through sheer will power, just to metaphorically give Simon and everyone else a good crack on the jaw. That's also why STTGL looks like Kamina, as hes basically become a representation of Spiral energy. Simon may be a spiral generator, but its image will forever be The Mighty Kamina
it would have been even more damm epic if he had taken kamina's katana just before going to the last battle against anti spiral and had beaten anti-spiral with it
ilanouh Speaking fluently starting at high school is pretty unusual and super impressive. I highly suspect it's because either one or both of his parents speak fluently and, perhaps, he was around some kind of English speaking community.
@@throwscats He's fluent, but you can hear an accent even when he's rapping. You can tell he's not a native speaker, though he has a better grasp of the language than many native speakers.
The secret weapon is that it's an allegory for late stage capitalism and the inevitable revolution against it. Also, yes, they did Yoko dirty. Hooked up twice just for the guy to get crushed immediately after, and ends up a school marm.
I'm a med student, and I don't wanna sound like a crybaby, but sometimes when I'm really stressed and I feel like I'm not gonna be able to finish this shit I come here for some "POWAH!" and damn it helps a lot. ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWAH!!! ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWAH!!! ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWAH!!!
same bro, this shit motivates and to me it was a rite of passage to watch this anime as a man learning from brotherhood comaraderie and never giving up
12 years ago... 1 year ago... 6 years ago.. 8 years ago... 5 years ago... Different points of time from the past. All united because of one thing. 12 years from now... 1 year from now... 6 years from now... 8 years from now.. 5 years from now... Different points from of the unknowable but ever approaching future. All united because of one thing. these two paths form to create a spiral. A spiral of love, a spiral of fighting spirit, a spiral of passion, a spiral that seems utterly impossible. that spiral is all for our love, passion and appreciation for Gurren lagann. ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWER!
Do the impossible! See the invisible! Raw! Raw! Fight the power! Touch the untouchable! Break the unbreakable! Row! Row! Fight the power! Actually in the episode where Simon and the others were trapped in the illusion, Kamina came to them and said that Simon had exceeded him. Kamina himself said it.
This song keeps my moral up while I recover a total hip replacement. Il be back to normal, I'll hit the gym and stick it to the doctors telling me I shouldn't. Do the impossible, see the invisible.
What made it amazing for me was that it liberally plastered itself with tropes and archetypes from typical super mecha anime that everybody expected and turned all those expectations around by managing to parody the genre and improve upon it at the same time.
It's not parodying the genre, it's not doing a Panty & Stocking or a Konosuba. Those are parody anime. It's being a homage to 80's/90's mecha anime like Gunbuster and Getter Robo.
@@nickmakura459 It was a fun watch, the giant red kanji announcing everything was great, Before my body is dry is a really catchy song, but overall it just didn't quite match up to TTGL, then again that's a pretty freaking high bar it set. Still pretty good in my opinion, definitively worth a watch for those that haven't watched it yet, but I feel it just doesn't have the broad appeal of Gurren Lagann, nevertheless it had some very memorable moments. As for the OST itself, I really liked most of it, but some tracks like Before my Body is dry, Satsuki's Theme "Kiryu ga KiLL" and KILL 7la Kill really stand out from the pack in my opinion.
Extended Lyrics version: Cross the uncrossable Reach the unreachable ROW ROW, ROW YOUR BOAT!!! Paddle the unpaddleable Dream the undreamable ROW ROW, ROW YOUR BOAT!!! What you paddle across is what you wanna cross Chorus: (row row, row your boat!!!) Just break the oars, then you see the stream, uh huh This is the theme of the "Rower" coming through baby! ROW ROW, ROW YOUR BOAT!!! ROW ROW, ROW YOUR BOAT!!! ◥▶◀◤
Well, that is an american wrongdoing. The ORIGINAL (and, frankly, BETTER) version is Giga Drill BREAKER. So, Catalina is actually right (except for, you know, a slight misspell)

Hey you can't say that Attack on Titan's Opening theme song is not bad... Although compared to Gurren Lagen, Gurren's on it's own genre XD *Opera/Rap FTW*
It's NOT bad haha it's pretty good but this is legendary (i can't tell if you intentionally did double negative to mean that The AOT theme is bad or if it was unintentional and you like it too:p)
I discovered this anime back in 2007 and watched the first half in 2017. Now that I've finished it, I have to say it: 00's was a hell of a time for Anime. I just wish I could'd watched it at the moment I had discovered it 😢
i really think Simon, at the end, was a step after Kamina .. i mean, as person, values and everything .. it's true, Simon fought to bring on his bro's dream , but at the end he did it by itself, and he also fought for his own dream (Nia) .. and not to forget that Kamina never used by itself Spyral Power, he had to rely on Simon, while even Kittan was able to, at his very end .. i mean, Kamina is badass, he is a symbol of everything, but Simon was the one who pierced the Heaven :)
This rap and sound is so effective and so true ! I know One Piece Mr. Eichiro Oda & One Piece Crew also was impressed since Franky Shogun has the "The drill that pierces the heavens !"
Got this recommended to me again. Team Dai-Gurren must be calling my name. KEEP ON LOOKING FORWARD AND DON'T LOOK BACK! BELIEVE IN THE ME THAT BELIEVES IN YOU!

The absolute best part of this song is that you can hear "Pierce the Heavens with your XXX!" in the background during the last few refrains This anime's soundtrack is by far the best
