doubt it, some would laugh at it as kids show or make up some reason to make themselves look cool or something To really make the world a better, one must start from themselves, like be kinder to other people no matter who or what they did to others or you, and heh good luck with that
@rushikou9979 sounds like you didn't watch the show either. People who watched the show don't make depressing pragmatic responses like you. We believe our drills will pierce any fantastical heaven. Good luck in your life and remember to smile.
and if we take the movies into account, it's an anime where the main character went from living underground to piloting a mech that was bigger than a single universe in just two movies.
I know right, this is one of the few shows that cure my depression, sure the characters can destroy universes and are powerful like Gods but this anime does things different and give the characters personalities. Something most anime’s can’t do
This is the tale of a man who has yet to realize his destiny. *This is the tale of a man who continues to fight against destiny.* *This is the tale of a man who continues to search for his own path, even as fate betrays him.* *This is the tale of a Man who pierces the fate of a universe ruled by an endless cycle of violence!*
A child who has yet to acknowledge their own self worth A young man who knows who he is and what he wants A confused man who struggles against the reality around him and questions his path A true man who continues to fight towards tomorrow now unwavering in his goal
This Anime did in 27 episodes what most anime can't do in a couple of seasons. Gurren Lagann will always have a special place in my heart. "Who the Hell do you think we are?!!"
Honestly yeah, a good while back I had watched a bit of it, and for whatever reason stopped watching, when I went back to pick up where I left off, I just assumed I was on like episode 20 or something. Nah I was like 6 episodes in if even
It was one of the earliest anime’s I remember I think I was around 9 or 10 just getting into anime and watching felt like I was having the best dream ever it’s one of my favorites and always will be
@@imjustvibing7268 holy shit sooo true Just finished r3 of code geass and I'm still depressed Code geass was really close to my heart, the ending was not satisfying enough they did not finish all the character arcs. It just sad, I want more code geass but I know it's not gonna come back. Hopefully it will come back 5 too 10 years later. I don't know man I'm just sad 😔
Justking I know how you feel but I have a way different view, I don’t want any more code geass since it ended with r2 perfectly(epic way). I would love to see the character arcs finish but I’m fine with how it is. R3 wasn’t canon anyways so I can’t count that as part of the series. Code geass is strange as it’s my favourite anime ever but I don’t really want a sequel, unlike other anime’s like clannad and steins gate

Kenneth See Our souls are the drills that will pierce our old memories and create new ones! We can’t dwell on the past, but the things that made us who we are aren’t going anywhere! Finished Gurren Lagan last night and can say absolutely it’s one of the greats. Amazing show that despite being goofy and silly provides some great themes about moving on from the death of a loved one and persisting in the face of fear. It also gave some of the most hype shit I’ve ever seen in an anime. 10/10 spin on boys.
It’s funny, I remember so many people talking about how this was one of their favorite anime’s and I assumed that they were just overhyping it, as many new anime fans do. I just finished Gurren Lagann yesterday. Tears in my eyes many times throughout the series. I felt like I grew up with the characters. I was aggressively rooting for them in the final battle. This is easily one of my favorite anime’s - the story, character development, lessons on grief, animations and the music were all fantastic. WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM
whats crazy is that so many people choose not to get into this because "The show needs to catch them the first episode" i think thats a shallow way of gauging shows, because the pacing is genius. If you cant deal with the slow moments, you dont deserve the hype.
that's kinda the point, from believing in yourself because others do, to disregarding what others think and believing in you because YOU believe in yourself
It was in the Super Spiral Space, which is another, uninhabited dimension created by the Anti-Spiral. This is how the universe sized mechs can exist and fight inside it.
unlike many main characters that are unique by the fact of birth, Simon and Kamina were unique because of their attitude, that’s why they are so believable and we all can relate to them
I love this anime because it teaches a very basic yet very important lesson about hope: If you want to do something, don't let anything stop you. Don't let people stop you, don't let things stop you, don't let reality itself stop you. You just have to push forward, be better and evolve with every minute your heart beats. If you don't believe in yourself, then believe in the people who believe in you. Stubbornness, hope and strength is what made Kamina and Simon win against an impossible foe, so these same things will help you battle against someone impossible in your life as well. So... If you're out there somewhere, know this: I believe in you. So believe in me, because I believe in you.
It's not just about personal hope, but shared hope and share destiny... We are all brothers in the end, and humanity has a shared destiny, and we can't let anything stop us, least of all ourselves. We have to believe with all our might that we are the drill that will pierce the heavens... and all of those who died before us are cheering us on, their hands will be on ours when the winning blow is struck!
"Mark my words. This drill will open a hole in the universe! And that hole will be a path for those behind us! The dreams of those who have fallen...The hopes of those who will follow! Together those dreams weave to make a double helix, drilling a path toward tomorrow! And that's Tengen Toppa! That's Gurren Lagann! My drill is the drill...THAT CREATES THE HEAVENS!" -Simon the Digger
same. Whenever I feel down, I play this music and will suddenly has a mantra that I can do anything even tho it's virtually impossible with my current state lmao.
I was bowling with a coworker who didn't have much confidence in her ability. I recited bits of Kamina's speech to her on the last three frames, and she got THREE STRIKES IN A ROW. Such is the power of Gurren Lagann for a person's self-confidence.
When you have the Covid and you're not okay but then the ghost of your ancestor who survived the Black Death appears before you and says "Believe in the you that believes in yourself"

After more than 10 years, I can say that THIS is the thing that impacted my life the most. It changed me, profoundly. I used to be a shy guy who didn’t have faith in the world, who was often bored and who was scared of things. Today I kinda became a Simon to myself and a Kamina to others. I believe in myself and the others, and I’m in love with life. I feel like I found meaning through this masterpiece, more than any other piece of literature or philosophy. The authors will probably never know, but Gurren Lagann had an impact on an entire generation. If you didn’t watch the show yet, do yourself a favor and go watch it now. It may change your life as well.

When you think about it. This show started with a bunch of cavemen digging holes in the underground to the end with them throwing galaxies at each other and blasting energies with the size of the god damn big bang in the span of 27 episodes. No other show can ever reach this level of power escalating, but I flipping love it, definitely the most hype show I've ever witnessed, with AoT closely behind it
For me it ended what darling in the franxx should have. I saw darling first. I love darling, but the last ep was for me a pain to watch. The funny Thing i try to watch gurren first but I could not take the Two first ep serious so me and My friend stop watching it. I am in New York in vacation, and I have autism, so i have very Hard with all the new things. So I fund gurren on Netflix. Gurren has really help me with make the day out. After a Hard Day i always could look forward to watch gurren. And now I finish it 😭😭 and I still have five days left. I watch anime too fast. 😂 so thank you gurren lagann, to make My Day in New York much eariser.
@@mikkelmortensen8538 While I'm aware there are different ranges of autism. If this anime has taught us anything it's that the only limits are those we place on ourselves, whether we move on and grow is entirely down to our own will and determination. Before you start I have a Multi-diagnosis which includes Autism, but it's by no means my worst disability. I dont let my Autism stop me from doing things I want to do.
Mike Davies sorry but I dont know how to answer, Only respect to you. But Thing you write. Before you start, as if I will get angry or something. Dont worry, when you write with me, you dont need to write that😊. I only get angry if People write mean things to me.
This show kept each character different, they are all memorable, but kamina and Simon, they had the same character design, they where one person, one soul. They wherent just blood brothers, they where two incarnations of pure determination, they are spiral energy, they are the drill that advances, and evolve after every turn. From the clothes, to the glasses, to the mecha they fought in, begining and final forms, they where one. This show is not just a cartoon, it is a life story, a blessing, that sings the song of determination. From a little kid and his blood brother, to a being soo large galaxy's look like stars, gurren lagann expressed a message we all need, one that no one can be perfect without. It tells the tale of two people, kicking reason to the curb, and doing the impossible to show the universe they can. This show itself works like a drill, every episode, a new advancement, every character, new knowledge, even boota, a little pig mole who, without speaking for most of his known life grew, and when he could speak, he didnt need anybody to explain the universe to him, he grew with everyone else, saw what they saw, heard what they heard, and felt what they felt. This is the tae of a universe, built on a drill, and thats tengan toppa, thats gurren lagann.
My friend said this anime is childish cause of the mecha design, less characters, fast-pacing, kamina's nonsense speech, mindless action and it's simple plot. But this is my #1 tho.

Two men who do the impossible simply because no one could stop them. It had just about every trope you can think of, but it also proved these things resonate with humans on every level that's important. Thank you Gurren Lagann, for being awesome.
So much of this it hurts! People don't seem to understand that things are cliche for a reason. It works. While, yes, it is nice to try to subvert those cliches and tropes, something isn't inherently bad because it does use them.
@@HassouTobi88 Oh yes, definitely. My point was only how people use the term cliche and bad interchangeably and how this is simply not the case. There were lots of cliche moments in the show, for that is undeniable. Some it did and they were great. Some they did, but as a way of subverting it. Some it started itself. People forget how old the show is. Things that are cliche now, weren't necessarily cliche then. The show, at least in the first season (I have reservations about season 2), was a masterpiece.
Listening to this brings back some memories of the time of when someone in high school had this blasting through the intercoms while dressed as Kamina, he got expelled for the semester fun times
I'll never forget the impact this show had on me. Whenever I feel depressed, down, or even hopeless, Gurren Lagann always reminds me to get back up and keep going. It genuinely added a kind of spark to my life. I will always appreciate it for that. Just who the hell do you think I am?

@@fork-man it wasnt, kamina death holds lots of meaning behind it and propels the show for a better direction, as sad as it is to me, kamina death was "necessary" to set up the coming part with Simon, otherwise he would always live following his shadow, which when we get later their final moment with kamina telling him he is taller than him now, that he clearly has surpassed him

Tell me if - If you can hear Even just the sound of my voice Loud and clear, free from the void That once consumed it whole If this world retains some worth Then there may still be some hope left To unearth my destiny and give these feelings a role I was crushed by the weight of my impatient dreams And so, I just surrendered Without even knowing the color or the road to the endless sky My mind, in overdrive And so at last, I feel alive Let the feeling, slowly taking over, Drive the beat of my heart The me I am today, will surely carve a way And continue on in search of finding Who we’re meant to be The answer that I seek It always will exist in me Here and now - no looking back On the seasons that have all passed And I vow, no matter what, that I will hold my ground Small regrets - they pile high, Slowly make their way to the sky But I’ll bear all of their weight - cause they’re a part of me now I’ve come too far to quit While following the path your silhouette’s created I’ve realized the truth, That I’m the only one who can make a change Those words you gave me, They have a meaning finally Even now I hear your voice, It’s calling once more to my heart I’m far from knowing why But there’s a reason I’m alive And I get little closer to it every single day The answer that I seek It always will exist in me It’s like it was meant to be Everything had fallen perfectly in place Those precious days remain And we’ll live it all again, my friend - till then My mind’s in overdrive And so at last, I feel alive Let the feeling, slowly taking over, Drive the beat of my heart The me I am today, She will surely carve a way And continue on in search of finding Who we’re meant to be The answer that I seek It always will exist in me

I'm sure a lot of people haven't watched this anime because all they see is a mecha anime and they hold prejudice against them. But they don't see that it's the mecha anime that will pierce straight through your heart!
This song has this raw, passionate power to it. It seems to embody the idea of going up against impossible odds, and continuing a loved one's legacy. I don't know if it feels that way because I have come to associate the song with the show's plot or what, but regardless the song is masterfully executed and emotionally powerful in its own right.
When the lead character goes from being a timid little boy to being so hot-blooded that he kills a literal God in close quarters combat, there has been some character development. When said lead character abandons infinite power, there has been some character growth.

Years later I watched this show on Netflix. Ignored the fan service and clinged to the courage and grind and strength of the show. Just fu**ING amazing. Then I saw the finale and was like "OMG I saw this scene when I was 6." To the people who didn't get to taste the fruits of their labor * a finger kiss salute*
I was playing a game that had two references to Gurren Lagann. Yoko's gun and an item called the infinity drill piece. Its Simone's core drill and does exactly what you think it does. But yeah. That got me to watch it years after I stopped it. I saw Yoko's rifle and couldnt help to laugh at how similar it looked. Same with the drill
