I recommend following the product instructions. I know for a fact it is useless on 6/12 pitch and flatter roofs without being screwed in. The steeper roofs it works well not being screwed in, but do that at your own risk and OSHA warning. . . (test it out and see what you are comfortable with)

I’m sure you know being a gutter guy,but I didn’t see anything in the comments about the gutter tool. You mentioned any tips if I had one it would be that. You can put it on an extension pole and clean as far as it will reach without moving or swaying the ladder. I have been using mine for 4 years and love it.

@divcleaningservice9522
@divcleaningservice9522 4 года назад
I think the only "safe" way would be to screw it into the roof, or do it from the ladder. I definitely do not like hip-roofs jobs. Especially since we do not factor linear ft. of gutter into our pricing. Those houses always take longer.
@jaredbilsland6606
@jaredbilsland6606 4 года назад
The Compassionate Capitalist I hear ya. I base pricing off square footage because I feel that’s the easiest method but have definitely been burned a few times. Maneuvering the ladder around trees and landscaping with narrow side yards is a pain the ass. If the short sides come to a peak with no ridge at all how would you screw it in?
@divcleaningservice9522
@divcleaningservice9522 4 года назад
@@jaredbilsland6606 It can't always be done. Sometimes we have to just take the safest approach. That's where having other tools comes into play. Pole and hook. Pole and blower. Pressure Washing jet. Etc. Sometimes you can just set up the RidgePro on the closet ridge and use a solid rope. Maybe not the safest, but it's better than nothing. This is a really good topic I should make a video on it.

Do you really find that faster and easier then moving a ladder every 8-10ft on such a steep pitch? I've done my share of these and it seems so awkward and uncomfortable continuing bending in that position. Curious what you think. I walk the roofs I can and use a ladder on the steeper pitch roofs. I can see this coming in real handy though on 3rd and 4th story roofs where id otherwise be lugging a 40ft ladder around.

Awesome video Donovan. Im in the process of adding gutter cleaning to my services, so I am still learning and so I possibly have a silly question. When you bolt/screw the Ridge Pro down into the shingles does it case any damage ? Do the screws remain left in the shingles or do you remove them after your through and do you disclose to your client that you will be screwing bolts/screws into their roof? If so does that ever cause the client to decline your services?

@divcleaningservice9522
@divcleaningservice9522 4 года назад
Rain is bitter sweet. We get delayed but we get a TON of work. I think we are only 7 jobs behind. Key with dealing with rain: We don't book Fridays until Wed of that week. This allows us 1 delay day a week, or ability to move jobs forward. Also we try to only book 10 gutter cleaning jobs per crew, per day. But we have the ability to do 15-25 per crew depending on house size and drive time. So on the next dry days we can complete the originally scheduled jobs and do a full day of catch up each day.
@Brantschannel
@Brantschannel 4 года назад
@@divcleaningservice9522 That's a good strategy. I like that. I used to do sort of the same concept with lawn care last year as I would not do scheduled work on Friday. I'd only schedule Mon-Thurs and use Friday for a make up day. Unfortunately this year I am weighted more heavily towards the end of the week, for better or worse, due to various reasons. I can't wait to move out of lawn care and into power washing/gutter cleaning like what you do. Bad thing about lawn care when it rains, the ground stays soggy for the next 24 hours a lot of time. With gutter cleaning, or power washing, when it stops raining, you can go on out and work! Take care buddy :)
