From Kansas, 100% accurate. We had a regular that had been going there everyday for 11 years. In that time he’s only missed a handful of days (funerals/hospital etc). They made a button on the POS system for him, so that anytime prices went up, his drink stayed the same price from 11 years ago.
@Bill Anderson Yeah, but then again.... lot's of people out there aren't content with simple existences and they end up living them. Might as well be content with your life.
I’m from Denmark and we have a small town local bar like that. Everyone knows everybody. And if we haven’t seen one of the locals for a few days we call if he/she is alright. Every person comes in at different times of the day. We help the bar owner whenever she needs help. Refilling the cooler etc or if it is something heavy, she always repays with a round even though she doesn’t have to, but it is her way to say thank you for the help. If she needs to leave for 5 min she always tells us to take care of the bar until she gets back, which we then do. We know how to operate the cashier. I love that little place. It is my free space where friends meet and come together. God bless that little place and every people there.
Coming from small town Australia, when I went to the USA for a year I was feeling homesick. I wandered around looking for the right bar. How did I choose it? I looked for the one with a dog in it. 100% like home.
I used to own a bar in a small town in the northern parts of Sweden. I could literally leave the bar for an hour, and when I came back the beer was gone and my cash register was full of cash. Sometimes I came back and by regulars was busy sweeping the floor. No dog though, but there was a big black stray cat that decided to move in. He had his own spot on a table in a corner. Good ol' times :)
@@moedereendmoedereend7935 sure you can, almost at every gas station. Its just expensive as hell. So i catually do some myself as well. The best thing is, you can choose the seasoning and the "dryness grade" you like.....and its aint that hard to make either.
@@moedereendmoedereend7935 So where do you live? In germany you can, as you can buy it in a supermarket, amazon and so on....and germany is in europe (as of my knowledge)
@@moedereendmoedereend7935 You can get beef jerkey everywhere in northern europe. I mean not that many people eat it, but you can get it everywhere these days.
From michigan, i make jerky, and I have a carhartt that I've def handed jerky out of at the bar. I was tagged in this video on Facebook multiple times 😂😂
@TheKitkat825 Usually most establishments that serve food and drink prohibit dogs from entering. But really small not regulated by the goverment places dont give a fuck and have dogs all over the place.
@@Doofens FDA Guidelines and stuff like that. If its a bar in a small enough town likely the government doesn't even know it exists and doesn't even know you are serving people food.
Spent a week in a small ass town, and this was spot fucking on. I legit changed the paper towels, had a wood token, bartender was a friend and let me get a beer on her smoke break and got yelled at for using a cue that was claimed. Well done guys.
Being from the 'Burgh, and the home of the original H.J. Heinz 'pickle plant' or 'Heinzes' as its known, I see your banana whistles (excellent idea), and RAISE you Heinz green pickle pins 🥒🥒. Definitely on every yinzer's wish list!
Respecting yet gently teasing, the guy in the corner who prefers to drink alone. This was just heartwarming. There are still pubs in remote parts of Britain where guys hang out and behave in exactly the same way. God bless the beer god bless us normal folks.. Cheers!
I was born and raised in a small-ass town in Michigan. I’m 26, so I’ve been frequenting there local bar for a while. This is 100% accurate. From the dog in the bar all the way to serving yourself bc the bartender is outside smoking. The best part is, everyone is so cool about it so we can keep doing that. Everyone is honest, pays what they owe, and I think it’s great.
@@michaelamarshalll was responding to JoeG who referenced ethnostates. So in fact, someone other than me did inject race. And I merely pointed out that it was not race but the ability to earn trust and respect that results in receiving trust and respect. Which for a racist is hard to believe.
@@andrewrogers5962 not rude at all, It's just the atmosphere and the vibes. Starting the night off pre drinking at someone or at a bar and then go out to a club until maybe 6am. The people at the club are also having fun and there are some fun and good looking people out there. It does depend on the night tho, some nights are better than others.
Was at a hotel bar with a bunch of pipeline guys. They drank it dry of miller light so one of them went to the nearest convenience store and bought another 30-rack. Instead of them heading back to the room to drink they handed the beers to the bartender to then sell to them. She made a lot of money that night.
Wisconsin law says you can drink at a bar when underage only if parent is present and approved and also if the establishment owner is OK with it. I love Wisconsin. Lived in Illinois all my life and I wish I would've moved up here sooner. S/O from 262
I was a Captain at Joint base Lewis-McChord and there's a local bar there I used to go with a few friends. This video is so accurate, they had a Bernese mountain dog in the bar named Johnny, the bartender Steve used to go outside and smoke for a while and we just served ourselves, and it was my unofficial job to refill the soap dispenser And yes, I still have Steve in my contacts and have since I decided not to re-enlist in 2017. He was from a small town outside Milwaukee, and he was a nice guy. he always, without fail, said "Hey, tell your folks I says hi, woncha'?" Steve, if you're reading this, I told my folks.
It is very heartwarming to read the comments, and to see how everyone can identify to this video, no matter how geographically diverse! I am from Northern Canada, and this is exact, especially identifying patrons by the color, make, model, and year of vehicles that pull in!
When my aunt and uncle visited my parents' bar they were shocked SHOCKED that people came to the bar almost every day at the same time. And when they saw the drink poured and ready by the time they sat down they almost lost their minds. And trying to explain the rules of bar dice to them was next to impossible.
That's me with the four bars a regular. The bar that's a block away from where I work serves me first without me having to ask for what I want even if there are people ahead of me. Helps that I tip good which I only do when the service is excellent and the staff doesn't give me any attitude.
I worked as a bartender in a small town bar for a few years...this felt more like a documentary than a sketch. Unironically I have seen all that and more cooky quirky small town stuff. Like we had a post office in the bar area, so people would check their mail and hang out for a while. We had cups instead of chips, but you'd have someone come in with a stash of them they saved up and drinks would go to every which part of the bar. We had smoking in our bar, so the smoke break thing didn't happen...much. Great video. Makes me look back at the good 'ol days before I went into management.
Spot on - from the pizza, to the tab, to serving yourself when the bartender is on a smoke break, to leaving money for someone else behind the bar. All part of the small town charm! Cheers!
My dad was born and raised in a small town in Minnesota. Growing up, we'd visit them once in a while and the local watering hole "Billy's" was EXACTLY LIKE THIS. As an adult this is the most accurate rendition of that bar I've seen on video.
My grandmother owned a bar in a small town in Illinois, this is so fucking accurate it's not even funny. This brings back a lot of memories. Love this channel. The monthly bar tab is fucking true as shit.
Back in the day when I was a waitress, my brain was completely ingrained where all the beverage areas were. When I left for greener pastures I'd go back with family to eat. I'd have the entire table served drinks, took the salad/appetizer orders, be hunting in the dry storage for those flipping club crackers that everyone wanted before I remembered I didn't work there anymore. It's been over two decades and anytime someone says they want something at a restaurant, I automatically get up. 🤣🤣🤣
I was basically raised in a bar by my parents in Colorado, and *man* this is accurate. Even with them talking (via yelling) at the guy a couple tables away. Only thing thats missing is when there are a lot of regulars and another regular walks in, big shouts of "HEY! THERE THEY ARE!" and what not
Can confirm, lived in the Midwest for 5 years. Although when someone asks if you have a nipple on your beer, you must drink your beer until you have less than the other guy. Then call him out for slacking. Also you can get blackout of drunk and forget to pay the tab, but bartenders don't sweat because they'll know you'll be back soon. 😉
This should be a tourism ad for my hometown! This is how life was meant to be, wish everyone could have this life, but most folk have no clue what they’re missing!
There's something deeply true and beautiful about this video, no joke. It was funny too. I loved their buddy in the background just chillin at the table by himself. I feel like I've been transported to this small town and I'm hanging out with these dudes. Cheers.
Watched Comedy Central about a week ago and learned what "Puppy Play" was....and hot damn did I learn that the world is worse than I thought....not because of war, poverty, or famine....but because there is such a thing as "Puppy Play"
An Idaho bar I go to is JUST like this!! Things get busy, the Old Guard steps in. Wiping tables, emptying ashtrays, TP, etc...the paper towels, Ive done that!
my favorite thing about the midwest is the super casual kindness and comfort we have with each other. like the paper towels thing in a bar, a customer saying they could help out like it’s no big deal iS SO M I D W E S T E R N
So accurate! When I moved from Wisconsin to indiana, I asked when does the bar buy a drink? The bartender said "what?" I miss the small town bar love up north.
This makes me want to explore small town America even more. I've only visited a tiny portion of Colorado, but I want to go back to the states some day for a road trip for sure.
I was living and working in a mining town. This is way too fucking accurate. All the miners and everybody else would show up at Joe's Tavern (the cheapest of 4 bars, or the casino but that's only if we got a little extra on payday) on Friday and the weekends. Getting your own beer, the dog, the paper towels, the small town shit talk. Amazing.
@Lex Bright Raven yeah I'm sure you couldn't get along with hard working people that aren't interested in your ignorance. I'm more than happy knowing people like you will never live near me.
The monthly tab, wood tokens and cheap food / beer remind me the VFW my dad used to go to in East County, San Diego CA. Except for the dog, they operated the exact same way, I volunteered as a cook for Sunday breakfasts typically, one gent liked his eggs over extra hard, like almost burnt. The waitresses would always walk back into the kitchen “order of eggs, kill ‘em” and I’d know exactly who’s order it was. My grandpa came into town and tried to get a Long Island with his token, bartenders like “sorry that’s good for 1 beer, not a mixed drink” but I think she still accepted it, head shaking. 😂
As an Arabian who studied in Tiffin, Ohio for 2 years that I knew every worker in Walmart and the rest of the restaurants in the area. Waving around and asking about their day became a second nature.
Years ago went camping near a small tourist town in SW MN, we skipped the tourist bar and went to the town bar for drinks. A local at the bar kind of side-eyed us and asked, "Who's boy are you?" trying to figure out how we fit in. The answer was that we were camping on farm land and the farmer was a friend of the local brother in law. That opened everything up for us, instant friends to everyone in the bar.
I live in rural missouri. I would literally serve customers who wondered in when the bartender was out back lol. My whole friend group basically ran the bar for free. Great deal for the owner. We bought drinks and served customers and never got a paycheck 😂
