A tribute to the enduring screen partnership of Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. The 25+ year off-screen and onscreen partnership is shown through mostly clips from their first and last films together. Katharine Hepburn's comeback to films from a long absence in which she took care of the ailing Spence was actually Spencer's goodbye.

You cannot tell the story of Katharine Hepburn without Spencer Tracy and you cannot tell the story of Spencer Tracy without Katharine Hepburn. They were, on screen, essentially one person, even as we display seemingly contradictory sides of our personality. Thank you for this post, well done!

This is my all time best actors, Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn. Their love and emotion shows in their last film together, he passed away not long after. You only have to watch her face and his to see the true love they had. This is my favourite movie of all-time. I loved them both as a child and still do. Thanks for posting. Both were the best love story ever told!!!!!!!!!!

He was Catholic. I left that church 35 years ago. Tracy lived on the East coast, and his wife lived on the West coast. They seldom saw each other. She was happy with her daughter, and son, who was born deaf. Spence opened the John Tracy Clinic for the Deaf. There was no love there. Tracy and Kate had the love of a lifetime. Always together. True love is what everybody should have. And they had it. I care not what any "church" thinks.

They were soulmates. True soulmates. She wrote him a love letter of the heart in his last days. She read aloud on an autobiographical program. Perhaps Barbara Walters idk. Can’t recall now. But it was heartfelt and beautiful. She absolutely adored that man.

This is one of the best tribute videos ever made about anyone. (and i've watched my fair share) You managed to make a story, an internal monolouge through lyrics of Katharine at the end, while showing flashbacks, their perfect kisses, how he touches her with love. The way she looks at him. I have to say my favorite part was at 1:50 it was just perfect. btw I've never ever seen Kath more graceful, and a truly elegant woman than at 3:16 i'm not quite sure why, but I was just overwhelmed

Two soulmates, deeply in love. tragic that Spencer was so tormented by guilt and other personal demons. but they both had very long and adventurous lives.

Spencer Tracy had left the family home in the late 30s, even before he met Kate. Also, he was sober for a good chunk of their relationship (some even say 10 years in the middle, and most certainly the last few years of his life in the 60s) and he was plagued by insomnia and guilt even before he met Kate, about his son and cheating on his wife earlier. If he didn't want to continue the affair, he simply would have walked away. But he never did.

I've watched this 'well put together' clip many times and still enjoy it. I've always thought Spencer became more handsome the older he got, yet Katherine was the opposite, in that she was extremely attractive when younger but less so as she aged. Does anyone else agree?

For some reason old age hit Spencer Tracy like a Mack truck. He looked 85 when he was only 65, and died "old" at 67. Hepburn, just 7 years his junior, lived to be 96 and opened a whole new career after his demise. Shows the difference in people, I guess. Spencer Tracy left us way too soon.

First love the tribute. To people who feel that Tracy and Hepburn were selfish to continue their affair (a) Tracy had already separated from his wife when he met Hepburn this was not a man sneaking off to meet a lover in a motel but a man who had it not been for his religion probably would have married Hepburn and (b) Spencer's daughter became friends with Hepburn after her fathers death, as for Mrs Tracy's claim that she thought Hepburn was just a rumor I just don't believe that.

So you would suggest to hell with true love? His wife was fat, homely, and involved in so many projects, she had no time for him. She was not "torn apart." His daughter was very close to Kate. She understood. His son was his pet project. He grieved that John was deaf. He was too sensitive for his own good. Both great actors. I loved them both.

On the contrary, he talked to Louise (his wife) of whom he never divorced on a daily basis and also consulted with her about which parts he should take. Apparently, he did love her and wanted her in his life. By most accounts, the Hepburn/Tracy relationship was fabricated by MGM. Loved them both onscreen but what it was really like offscreen wasn't the love affair that has been so hyped up all these years.

Tracy must have cared what the Church thought or he would have divorced his wife and married Kate. Maybe he didn't have much of a relationship with his wife, because he did have a relationship with Kate. If she wasn't there maybe he would have reached out to his wife. Who knows?

Louise Tracy was comfortable with having Spencer living away from home and visiting it regularly. Kate was never interested in being married again, she thought it was a selfish thing for an actor to do because of what is required.

People seem to forget that Spencer Tracy was a severe alcoholic, probably because of his son's deafness & having affairs before Katherine Hepburn. Katherine Hepburn supposedly was bisexual & had affairs with women as well. Both superb actors all their lives.

ITA with xDancinManx. What if you were Mrs. Tracy ? Would this be a beautiful love story then? Or worse, what if you were one of the Tracy children and had to live with the embarrassment and shame of this affair for the whole world to see? It's not like it was a secret. It's clear that Tracy and Hepburn were two of the most incredibly selfish people who ever lived.

Spencer's daughter Susie became close friends with Hepburn after her father died. So obviously she didn't have any ill feelings towards her. Tracy and Hepburn were never seen in public together and and had separate residences except toward the end when Tracy's health was deteriorating. Hepburn took care of Tracy and she even stopped acting for five years to be there for him. It was an incredibly unselfish thing to do. If Susie Tracy didn't have a problem with their relationship, what other people think about it doesn't really matter.

That makes her a woman. It was a different time. It was more about what would people think 🤔. Who cares. Love 💘 is love regardless. They were great together and are together now. Believe what you want. Don't judge.
