7800 is named Torquay Manor. We all get names wrong sometimes. I wonder how many more 5 inch gauge Manor engines I'll fall in love with. I can't help it, every time I see a 5 inch gauge Manor hard at work it makes my heart melt with love. Long live God's Wonderful Railway.
Ashley Manor was the name originally designated by the GWR for 7800. I believe it was changed to Torquay Manor before the locomotive was completed due to lobbying by the MP for Torquay who was on the GWR board.
maybe the owner is ashley and wanted his own name upon it. if the loco was 7801 "anthony manor" this was originally going to be called "ashley manor" so would not be too far from the prototype !!
