My Show Ready Sounds Comparisons on both units: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qUgExp0e0QQ.html

Better comparison video than the previous. I'm hearing that the GT-1000ore has higher fidelity in the upper frequency registers specially when used with custom IR's. But not as thin sounding or drastic. The similarities in tone are still in there on both units and a few minor tweaks can make em sound similar. Obviously different processing and tier but the "tone" is inherent. I agree that they both handle custom IR's very diferently. Maybe it has to do with the sample rate differences? Great video and thank you for the science! Cheers! ;)

I think the main thing I did differently here is to make a basic sound and compare. First vid was MY SOUNDS across both units, hence why you could hear why I liked it so much, I spent along time dailing em in then the gx just brought em to life with some tweaking. Now taking those settings back I was like... Wait... There def something different here. I first noticed AIRD is good but different on different units, like the SY1000 For examplehas all the amps but sounds very 2d compared to these units. Yet it's sound scape is massive for synth etc.

Great, very thorough, and very thoughtful demo as always. I'm quite interested in these systems but due to budgetary constraints I will go for the humble but powerful GT-1 in the near future. I'm just tired of lugging heavy amps, tube or solid state, and I've never had a tube fetish like a lot of players. I began playing in the 80s and have used a wide array of amps from a Marshall JMP 100-watt stack to Peaveys, Boogies, Crates and Randalls. I even used a rare Pearce solid state for a gig when a friend let me use it. Sounded amazing. I'm interested in a system I can use with my computer and do a whole DAW king of thing. I'm still learning about all this. It's like I blinked and the world changed since I picked up the guitar again a couple years ago after not playing much for a long time. I began playing when I was twelve, was pretty much a natural, played in a lot of L.A. metal bands in the 80s to early 90s when the scene disappeared. If we had these systems back then I would have been using them. I saw the possibilities of solid state, which was, in those days, still very uneven world. I love my Randall RG75 with the Celestion. What a great, loud, powerful combo. It filled the room, and I was heard loud and proud over many very loud drummers. I loved the Sans Amp, although I never owned one. I remember the hybrid tube/digital ADT rack mounted preamp. I remember when Gallien-Krueger got a lot of attention. While they no longer make guitar amps they do make bass amps. I always thought of them as good practice amps with some studio capability. Maiden used GKs on the Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son albums and tours. I believe Alex Lifeson used them on a Rush album. Not sure which. I just found GKs a bit too cold. But they were fun to doodle around with. Anyhow, I think the modeling/profiling amp approach will only grow in the future.

Indeed and a nice story to read. I was lucky enough to enjoy amps when I was younger and only in around my late 20s start dabbling with pedals to take over. It had to happen, small corners to setup, fit in and make a big noise or don't get the gig kinda thing. I did a vid on gt100 vs gt-1 and also used a gt-1 for a year or so and can honestly say it was a great working pedal and the only thing I had on stage for a bit. 🤟

I read on a forum that the latest 1.12 FW supposedly have fixed this flaw. Can anyone confirm?

you uploaded this vid March 2022. on May 2022 there was a fix and new IR loader version 1.01. and then combine it with latest GX100 firmware 1.12 . I wonder if it sounds any different?

I think the IR sounded much more open and real on the GT, my guess is the 32bit conversion on the GT vs the 24bit on the GX is the reason. I think I'll wait for the GX-1000 to come out. - Nice video, thanks!

I'm undecided. between the Boss GX-100 or gt-100, What do you think is more recommended?

Boss GX 100 if you like the modern interface like touch screen/Bluetooth..custom IR, programming and tweaking made easy.. If you can live without those features and if only sound is your top priority then GT 100 can also do the same thing as GX 100.. so sound wise not much of a big difference.. Gt is built like a tank and will be able to take some beating and still works.. i am still using my boss gt 100 which i purchased in 2016

Need to be a computer programer to use these things. All the pro don't use these only the backyard guitar player.so why they making them more & more harder to use

most major touring bands are using modelers these days, whether its helix, kemper, quad cortex, some using gt1000. Some still using amps but a ton of bands rock modelers live because of convience, consistency and live a super small percantage of people would notice or even care about the difference

Also pro guitarist do all the same tweaking kind of as well. They all understand frequencies and know where to cut and boost to make their amp fit in the content of a full mix.

We all love a good valve 😁 I was a H&K guy. But... I started changing when my job required more tones. I used to FX return into the H&K warp x, gt-100. Was great... And then when the work load was more focused on driving to different venues every night, I made the choice to go fully digital. So my channel is focussed on helping folk who maybe can't find answers or how tos etc... Thanks for popping in dude 🤟

A question on the difference in tone between the two units, if you were to dial the EQ block on the GX-100 to match the GT-1000 tone, what difference in frequency and gain settings would you need to apply?

I'd need to know how glen does his nul tests for that.
