I am a layman trying to come to terms with the scoring and deductions in gymnastics, so this posting is much appreciated. Thanks for sharing your insights.
Deductions seem too severe on the switch ring where I found total -0.2, (.1 for toe point and .1 for body shape). But deductions are too low on the dismount (I found -0.4, .1 for the step, .1 for leg separation, .1 for toe points, .1 for low chest on landing)
ohh it was done alltogether. Only noticed in the end lol. But I prefer the other type of execution videos hehe so we can understand exactly the deductions😊
In FIG official competitions there’s two panels with selected judges for each specific panel that are difficulty and Execution. He did this to show this as an example or was over-watching as a head judge. The symbols are the elements. On top the letters is the difficulty and after he puts the connections bonus values on top of the letters (the numbers like 0.2) and on the bottom he puts the deductions and artistry deductions. When he does the maths he does it mandatorily in 2 panels. The D score (difficulty and E score ( Execution and Artistry) The D score first checks the top 8 elements, 3 of them mandatory being leaps, jumps or turns. Then he checks the 4 requirements of beam that are worth up to 2.0 and added up on the difficulty (0.5 per requirement) and he also adds up the connections bonus. On the E score he just adds up all the deductions and do it also with artistry, adds up. The execution starts from 10, so he takes the executions found from that 10 (10-1.7=8.3 for example) and there’s your total E (execution) score. Then to finish he adds up both scores and if there’s not neutral deductions to lower the final score voila, there’s the score. Easy 😂
Can you be more active with the e score vids I hope you can do some for the American championships coming up and the world's I want to see the difference between real time judging and video judging
To all the judges out there- does this routine deserve it’s score? I’m so torn but I don’t know anything about judging. What would you score it? ru-vid.com1zNrYA6nn10?feature=share
Thank you! I paused the video and it looks like she did hit a pretty legit position (front leg is horizontal and toe is, er, sort of pointed) but it's basically impossible to see in real time, which is what matters.
Two months later.... xD I'd deduct 0,3 for chest, 0,1 for the body shape (mostly for the leg separation) and 0,1 for the step (even though body shape could be 0,3 with strict judging because her knees were not that straight, but it wasn't that bad either)
