You're right in that instance for sure. :) You can remove that text though by paying the 2.

@@SuperMadLad You also didn't need to shock in the land to be able to pay the 2 generic mana to remove Nullhide's ability, as Mirrorhall Mimic just like most other clone type cards lack the word target, and thus gets around hexproof and shroud. As for ways to get haste for your creatures, no real good way jumps out. Most of them are red, and thus would be somewhat awkward to cast with your manabase, though the Druids, Harkers, and Aether Hubs would probably make it somewhat doable. Kenrith would be one way, if you have one red mana open, and also grants trample which might be very relevant. There's also the forced draw option to force a card draw before opponent's upkeep if really needed, and the reanimation aspect. Not a great option, but a possibility. There's also the {1}{R} instant First Day of Class. Obviously awkward since it's an instant, and it's red - but it makes any creatures that enter the battlefield after it was cast enter with a +1/+1 counter and those creatures gains haste. Being an instant you could also wait with casting it until after you've resolved the first Gyruda - though obviously then that one wouldn't have haste. Then again, you don't really have a problem with legend ruling the initial Gyruda away. It also has the benefit of being a Learn card, so would open up a Lesson sideboard/loot strategy - so that even if you're not going off you could fetch a Basic Conjuration, Environmental Sciences, or you could go for some pests or some removal to just survive another turn. There are also some red creatures you can hit to give the team haste, such as Cavalier of Flame {2}{R}{R}{R} with an ability of {1}{R} to give entire team +1/+0 and haste until EOT (horrible option in my opinion, due to the mana cost and risk of it ending up dead in hand, though the "X damage to each opponent where X is amount of lands in your graveyard" could be amusing considering how much you self-mill. There's Crashing Drawbridge which is a 2 MV colorless artifact 0/4 defender, with tap for haste to all creatures - but that has significant problems due to taking up a turn when you would rather be ramping, and the tap restriction meaning you need to have played it on a previous turn or give it haste. There's Doomskar Titan, a 4{R}{R} 4/4 that gives +1/+0 to the team on ETB, with a foretell cost of 4{R}. The foretell is somewhat nice in that it could make it easier to cast if needed. The ability being an ETB has both pros and cons. Pro is that you don't need to pay anything, con is that you can't activate it on following turns if need, nor can you gain its benefit again if it's the only hit off first Gyruda, and you then have to flicker/copy/cast another gyruda - (though this can somewhat be mitigated by having a clone copy the Doomskar when you feel you have enough attacking power). Goro-Goro is a 1{R} 2/2 creature with a cheap {r} to give haste to all creatures. Not impressive in any way, but cheap, and even if it ends up in hand it can still serve as a 1{R}{R} give haste to entire team. There's also Ogre Battledriver {2}{R}{R} 3/3 that gives any creatures that ETB under your control +2/+0 and haste until end of turn - though this has the huge issue of you needing it to be on battlefield before you go off with the combo. Not recommended. That's about it for cards that jump out. If you're willing to look at enchantments, instants and sorceries, there are a bunch that I skipped past. I think most of them would probably dilute the deck more than they're worth, same for most of the ones I brought up here. I would be somewhat interested to see if the Lesson board of First Day of Class is enough to make it viable, I'm doubtful.

Game 2 was blast from the past. I cant remember the lastime I saw ferrox gruul, probably since war of the spark came out and I was playing it with the red pig god.

For sure! I think the nostalgia is a big reason why I enjoy the format so much. Just getting to go back and see old playable cards being usable again is great.

Without haste itself I don't think it's a good option. It would take up one of the turns we'd normally be playing a mana dork to excellerate our combo and thus slowing us down which defeats the purpose of having the haste option. Dragonlord Kolagahn is the kinda card we're looking for which is something we hopefully get added in a future supplemental set.

I'm not sure sticking a 4th color into the manabase is a good idea even with the mana dorks. We want to cast Gyruda on turn 4 off our mana dorks so we'd be fully tapped out in an ideal scenario. That'll probably cost me as many games as it wins me.
