One needs to be a bit of a poet to speak about poetry. This brief reading of Holderlin is insightful because of its partly poetic discourse all the while pointing to philosophical questions-ancient Greek, Kantian, pointing towards issues in Heidegger.

very nice, i'm ignorant about Holderlin, but can hear all his resonance with german idealism's ideas and values. in nature, in fire ... how to balance the need for renewal with the instinct for conservation ... and overall, the entirety of the whole, to the dasein, and to know how to be in the world ... informed by our actions in the world. schopenhauer with music, heidegger via poetry ... our will searching for meaning and spiritual vitality; movement. the polis to be informed, not exist to be manipulated. human society in balance and in appropriate scale to nature. equipment, 'present to hand' and our human unfolding one generation to the next. i don't believe in anglo retirement, as life is involvement and relations and beneficial exchange. the thanatos of unearned and unproductive income ... but instead a return to the arts and crafts and creativity. nature cannot be conquered, as we are nature, its appendage, and 'connected' in the whole, as stated. ty & gl
