I agree totally. I got the 2023 model and the only thing I did to it was add the Roku phone mount. Don’t want to do anything to change the original stripped-down bobber look.
I absolutely love the Standard. It’s gorgeous!! What I love about the Standard is that it doesn’t look like a typical Harley. Looks a lot like a 1991 Honda Shadow VLX 650. It’s the wire wheels that make it soooooo beautiful. I want one so bad I can taste it. GREAT JOB HD!!!
Crazy coincidence. But I daily a 99 shadow 750. I adore my bike. Testing one of these out at Woodstock harley has me putting my shadow on the market in spring.
I personally would put crash bars, but that’s about it maybe change the exhaust but I think that bike looks fine the way that it is with the spoke wheels good enough to ride the hell out of it all day baby
I'm an old guy, bought my first Harley in the '70s, I like the simplicity, I would put mufflers on and call it a day, don't like the crinkle black finish of the street bob, too hard to keep clean.
If this helps anyone. I just visited my local harley dealer and they showed me this bike. Those who love that classic but sporty look, the standard is perfect for you. Sure the tank could be better but honestly for me atleast, id be going to and from work and short rides so thats not a big deal for me personally tho. Yes it's a 650 pound bike but it rides lighter than it looks from what I found. I got on it and even pushed it around while sitting on it and barely felt it
I have a 2022, added Viking hard saddle bags, a touring seat (I am old and fat) and V&H Big shots exhaust. I will say I don't like the stock handle bars and I am looking to get some lower swept back bars.
Was just chatting with a friend about this particular motorcycle. Personally, I like it. With just a few little adds, like seat, bags & wind protection, it becomes a very capable rider. You've got a great bike. Wahoo!
I've been trying to find a test ride done on bumpy roads to see how the suspension works. Every test ride I've watched so far has been done on smooth roads.
@@forgottenmotorcycles Thanks for clueing me in on the suspension. I live where the roads aren't so great and have been thinking of buying one. I think the Standard with chrome spoke wheels is one of the nicest looking bikes in H-D's Softail lineup.
¡Qué hermosa máquina! Es el punto ideal de lo clásico, con las prestaciones de esta época. Sin vulgaridades exageradas pero sin sin ser aburrida. Ésta y la Street Bob son muy lindas. Felicitaciones. Ah! El manillar es de serie?
I'm strongly considering a 2024 Softail Standard and I want it to move up from my Sportster but aside from being my daily, I plan on taking 3 weeks off and riding from NY to Florida once a year as my vacation. I was thinking a windshield, detachable saddlebag, cruise control and probably a better seat or just a cushion to strap on cuz I do like the stock seat. Also eventually a stage 1 setup with a more modest exhaust cuz I prefer not too loud. Do you think the Softail Standard is up for the task and will it be comfortable enough to make a trip like that?
Yes, I do think this bike would do that fine. Maybe take a look at a Heritage with bags, windshield, two up seat and cruise control already installed. See what the money difference would be. Great bike. Wahoo!
I think the street bob comes to the back seat and rear foot pegs stock where the soft-tailed standard does not. Also, the street bob has more color options and comes with blacked out features versus Chrome features. Another difference would be engine options, I think the street bob comes with the larger 114 but I may be wrong. Choose wisely :-)
I'm only 5'8" but I'm also 62 with old knees. I put forward controls 2 days after I got mine. $550 from the dealer and about an hour in the garage. My first and best upgrade.
