Thanks to our good friends over at Quiet Riot Firearms we are able to get our hands on the elusive H&K MP7 A1. This ideal PDW fires the 4.6X30mm cartridge, which is pretty much like a centerfire .17HMR on steroids, which has muzzle energy comparable to 9x19mm but is capable of penetrating soft body armor and minimizing collateral damage much like the 5.7X28mm from FNH.
Sadly, the MP7 A1 is only available for military and law enforcement and there is no civilian version available at this time for the general public to enjoy. Regardless, we hope you enjoy this video on this unicorn gun that not a lot of people get the chance to shoot.

Im in an Airborne Regiment in the German Army. There are always 5-7 guys in a companie that carry this gun. Most of them have got other weapons too, like Panzerfausts or grenade launchers. They hand them MP7s, obviously because they carry a lot of other heavy stuff around and I got to tell you: we are very happy with this gun. It punches through Military body armor, even at distances up too 200 Meters (with the armor piercing ammo). Im glad we have these now, instead of the old UZIs we had bevor.

Wenn du sagts Jäger, meinst du dann eine der Infanterie Jäger Einheiten oder willst du sagen das du einen Jagdschein hast und das ding mal Schiesen willst? Obwohl du nicht beim Wehrdienst warst? Formuliers doch bitte mal klarer, dann werd ich mich bemühen dir deine Frage zu beantworten. ;)

+reed petchnick Oh no problem. The more you know right? I hope I said that right. However I think my English is better since the last maneuver with the guys from the 173`rd Airborne ;) They are some really cool, professional guys. An other interesting sidenote Is, some guys in our Infanterie MOS`s do even Prefer the Mp7 over the G36, because they have a Problem with the 5.56`s low stoping power. With the Mp7 you get less Range, but more deadlyness and a even more compact weapon than the G36.Although they are both very cool guns, there is just something special abaut my good old G3. I wouldnt trade it in for anything...

Even with a Class 3, you can not own it as its a Post 86 Machine Gun. Maybe as a semi as an SBR. You would need to be an NFA Class 3 dealer and have a SOT, and even then, you would need a letter from your Police Chief for a demo and you would have to be a dealer and it would be for sale to other dealers.

The MP7 isn't really that great of a gun. You aren't really missing out on much. I do the same though. All the guns that aren't really practical I buy airsoft gas blowback versions of them. Cheaper to shoot than a 22lr, and you can play airsoft with them.

Wir nutzen kein G36C sondern ein normales G36 Standartsturmgewehr. Das KSK hat die C-Version. Spezialisierte Kräfte (z.B. EGB-Fallis) die K-Version. Die MP7 ist in eigentlich jeder Waffenkammer vertreten und wird von der Bundeswehr auch genutzt. Grüße von einem Gebirgsjäger

We had these when I was in the military (go Norway!), never got to shoot one though. They were only issued to K9 units and anybody operating in close quarters and in mountain bases. We are so damn spoiled :P Our 1LT would walk around with a glock 17 on his hip, a MP7 strapped to his thigh and an HK 416 slung across his chest, he had a 15"long beard, and always wore a beret with 2 bullet holes in that he wore in Afghanistan. He was the definition of BADASS!

i was wearing this gun in the Afghan war as a german combat paramedic and i loved it. the only thing i didt like is the safty - because its very easy to go to the beast mode. you have to be very very carefully. always watch your trigger finger. stay safe and healthy.

I was in Munich when the mall shooting was there this summer. The rest of the evening there were special forces all over Munich in kevlar and with MP7's at the ready. It was quite impressive how fast they got the city swarming with cops, not something you usually see in a European city.

Cory Mcclure I have watched all their gun gripes. I was just pointing out how pathetic it was that a gun is "beast" for being cool in a video game instead for being part of the kit in 2 of the best special forces in the world; SEALs and KSK. I got to play with this in 2009 when I was in Afghanistan. Was lucky enough to be with some germans so we did the German marksman qual. Loved this thing. Like you said, angry hornet. Almost no recoil.

The Norwegian armed forces have been using these since 2008 and it really is a nice firearm. very light recoil, extremly accurate and a handy weapon. Along with the HK 416/417 and Glock P80 it gives our soldiers the firepower they need. Also the MP7 is fitted in the seatpacks of our F-16's during wartime along with a Glock sidearm for the pilot.

Awesome. The power, accuracy and penetration of an assault rifle with the size of a sub machine gun. I've seen a 4.6×30mm bullet from an MP7A1 go through a car door and penetrate a Kevlar helmet on a ballistic gel head, went through the door, through the helmet and into the gel head. I was like "holy shit, wow". I saw one covered in mud, it fired perfectly.

As far as i understood it, the MP7 was, together with it´s ammo, designed, just like the P90, to equip support troops with a weapon that is easy to carry and can punch through pistol caliber stopping body protection. Most support units use MP/submachine guns with pistol calibers and had growing losses due to them suddenly finding themself on the front against enemies in body armor able to withstand their given equipment.

I love how everyone keeps pushing the "Because you suck and we hate you" meme despite the fact H&K was the only company to try and fight FOPA and the Hughes Amendment in '86 and Import Ban of '89. H&K does love you, but they are getting royally ass-fucked by the German Government and German Trade Associations as well as the beloved '89 Import ban.

I'd really would like to see what a Pistol in 4.6x30 would look like. It has the slightly more (13.4 grains to the 9s 13.3) Case capacity as 9x19, so it should fit Glock Frames, at least in Terms of Energy.

I cant believe i never subbed to these guys yet! There are very few honest reviews of firearms with any real test footage and these guys always make a brief overview and go strait to putting a gun through its paces. This was a beautiful unicorn and every bit the amazing PDW people say it is. Thanks so much for this. i should add id like to see a little field stripping and mechanical insight like on Forgotten Weapons but it doesnt need to be that in depth. Probably after firing it so you can also see what components get dirty with different bolt return systems. Id like to see how certain firearms work and seeing were they foul the most has alot to do with what the performance would look like with frequent use.

I would agree that it is a great PDW, but I would have to go with the MP5 as the best, if only because it chambers 9mm, which is much more readily available. I've never seen the caliber that this weapon fires.

Yeah and 9mm is much more deadly at closer ranges, this round is longer ranged and penetrates much better though, but a 5.56 would be better.

This is a wise decision from the German government. They listened to the critics from the Belgian public reaction on the export success of cop-killer 5-7 from FN. For military and law enforcement this is an excellent weapon. But for civilians? Imagine if every criminal could have that gun and bullet proof vests don't save you.

Eh, the power of the attack chopper is heavily based on the skill of the pilot, and cooperation between pilot and gunner. A strong pairing with good comms can definitely dominate a map without a decent enemy jet pilot to counter, and truth be told, when I paired up with a buddy we were able to take down sub par jet pilots from the attack chopper, but there's always something around to counter it to some degree, especially with the huge number lock on missile launchers available to infantry. Back when both pilot and gunner had their own set of flares it was definitely OP as fuck though.

+Cliff Walker I find it hard to believe that they'll have orders to kill you on spot. Arresting sounds more likely. And if they do, you can sue them from there for damaging your property and causing disruption + moral damage. Sounds a bit better than taking innocent people's lives. Well as soon as they started shipping in g36s we had a ban and they reworked it into the SL8 just to get around the laws. It's probably a huge hassle to make a military firearm into a non military firearm while still being similar enough to sell well. I know if I owned the company I wouldn't bother with the US market if I was getting millions from military sales.

More like H&K is the Apple of guns. Their sub par products (I can hear the fanboys already. Come back when you actually own some of H&K's products) couldn't surpass the competition from other companies (Particularly FN) and so what did they do? Like Apple, they started giving contract deals to the government to create a surplus of their stock. Military and police now have a bunch of guns, so why spend the extra money to buy anything else? This is why the MP5 became such a popular platform, even though the Colt 9mm that came out at the same time we were choosing a new SMG to adopt was more durable (no rollers to have to replace), lighter, more precise, cheaper, and more logistically sound (can accept rifle uppers and accessories and uses magazines that were far cheaper to produce, trigger group is already finer out of the box).

i just got to fire one of these. full auto suppressed at abilene texas indoor gun range. it was a beauty to fire. was my first time full auto or suppressed and got to do both with this gun! AMAZING!
