@@justaclock4768 Perhaps, but who or what is it? If this cycle has gone for as long as I think, then what is causing it? What's hidden behind these faces?
Glad to see that Wayne will get credit for all the views his fantastic narration on this story has been getting that others have uploaded. This one is one of my favorites, Thanks!
Agreed! You feel such pity for Edward and it really puts you in Dan’s shoes wanting to help but feeling utterly helpless. Wayne is a master and perfectly paired with Lovecraft!
There's no better way to experience a reading of Lovecraft than his stories being read by Wayne June. Looking forward to listening to your reading of "The Colour Out of Space". :-)
I will not mention which Lovecraft dominate horror narrating RU-vid channel I am referring to, but from their sheer volume you can probably bable it out. I was growing very concerned when I listen to them read the Dunwich Horror and was bored out of my mind. I had not liked their color out of space and only knew call of cuthulu was good because I read it myself. So I ventured out to find someone to really bring the text alive. The search didn't take long when I found myself utterly mesmerized by Wayne's narration! It's absolutely marvelous and matches the context of what is being read beautifully. Great job Wayne!
That was INCREDIBLE!!! Wayne, you were MADE to read horror literature! This easily became my Wife and I’s most favorite Lovecraft story to date! *Horrifying.* Subscribed and waiting with bated breath for *More*.
I had not been privy to the knowledge of your identity before Darkest Dungeon. And so from that delightfully abysmal locale I ascend, and thoroughly take immense enjoyment your other endeavors such as this one.
Such a terrifying story narrated so masterfully. I couldn't wish for a better combo. I listened this several times by now, and will listen it again in the future when my mood is right, it's just so great.
That was great. This story has been done so many ways and kinds but there is something about lovecraft that tugs at the Soul. And this prodigious, curious and haunting voice. *It is a travesty* but it shall prosper for it fascinates the brave and the foolhardy alike.
I no joke just finished this on my own. I also listened to the audio book that had your reading, and you add a lot of good to it. You're frantic depiction of Derby is fantastic 👌
I recognise this guy‘s voice from years ago I had this on cassette and it sounds like the actor although I can’t remember his name it could be this guy. The voice sounds very familiar. I had on double cassette in about the late 90s lost the cassette or it snapped through overplaying. Glad I found this.
no better way to calm down after a long day of work then to settle down to a good book read by a calming voice, thank you for all the entertainment and help
Man I really love Lovecraft inspired fiction, Bloodborne, Amnesia, and Darkest Dungeon are some of my favorite games. I do struggle with actually reading Lovecraft but this was amazing and I loved it.
I've always been a fan of books, but given how I don't particularly like horror films I didn't think I'd enjoy horror stories. Tried Darkest Dungeon a few years ago. Really glad I found your channel as well as horrorbabble, turns out I absolutely love the slow buildup these stories provide. I'm very happy that you seem to have tons of new fans through your role in DD, you definitely deserve it! Personally I like playing it with some story I already know playing in the background to set the mood.
57:23 so I remember where I am tomorrow. Just want to say you have an incredible way of speaking for these books and I'm enjoying every single one of them.
Admittedly I started listening because of your role as the Ancestor of Darkest Dungeon, but your narration of stories like this one are perfect and a constant reminder that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.
Wayne! I surprised and pleased to find you here sir! ive been listening to this narration since the late 90s when i had it on cassette!! :) its accompanied me through the creation of many artworks (always listen to audiobooks while painting) this is the best version of Lovecrafts epic tale, hands down! thanks! :)
Whoa!! I got chills at that last sentence! :0 "Some dental works positively identified the skull- as Asenath's." Friiiick! That was chilling to realize that Asenath's skull was in Edward's body, like her skeleton replaced his own.
Not quite. Edward killed “Asenath” and buried her body in the basement. Her father was powerful enough that even after death, he was able to take over Edward’s body again and put Edward’s mind into Asenath’s corpse. It had been rotting for several months and that’s why it smelled so bad and fell apart in the last scene.
This man has the cool appearance and stoic voice of a true lovecraftian investigator, such a shame his moxie and curiosity will lead him directly into Arkham asylum.
A simple mention of the Necronomicon makes my skin crawl, especially coming from Wayne June. I’d love to hear Wayne June read the Necronomicon, could call it “Fireside Occultism with Wayne June”
