my experience with true duals. It got old, FAST. Best for my ears is the h-pipe and chambered mufflers (on cars that let you put the mufflers in the middle like older Mustangs or Lexus LS400)

God I hated my SC400 during low rpms when it was straight piped, sounded terrible. Now I have an x pipe, resonators and mufflers, not loud but definitely better lol.

This is really nice and fitting for the sc400. I’m building a 99 Gs400 and I’m trying to find a nice exhaust setup that’s a little quieter for more of the sleeper status. I’m thinking of doing bigger picture stuff later on like possibly forced induction but I did research on the weaker pistons and rods in the VVTi models. Right now I’m looking at an xpipe for the gs. But like mans said keep up with the sc work it’s unique working on the 1uzfe VVTi models. I’m thinking of eventually starting a RU-vid channel for my build and just hooning around.

My 93' LS400 is a full bolt on build..planning on ported heads and an intake manifold from 1UZTECH which is local to me but my exhaust is a 3" header back.. Custom fabbed Long Tube headers, 2 high flow cats, cat back straight pipe with an X pipe

definitely quieter with the crossover but also higher pitched. does that help get rid of the drone to then? regardless if you like the drone or not :P

I have a muffler and resonator deleted LS430 I'm thinking about putting an X pipe on. I'm considering an X pipe in place of the 3rd cat.

Pure true duals sound good on engines like this. But I would add an x pipe or h pipe to any fuel injected vehical just to regain some scavenging. Helps with low end torque more.

I don't know why people think straight pipe 1UZ sounds good, or most cars really.. xD The H-pipe really helped tone the car down a little. The crackles part of the straight pipes are nice, but otherwise it's just obnoxiously loud and doesn't sound good. Having a proper exhaust set-up or axle/cat back system always sounds better and can still be loud if you wanted it to! The only problem with exhaust systems is they're costly but much more enjoyable and don't get old as fast.

if you add two long freefllow mufflers on each side, you will get slr amg typical sound with true duals, thats why all v8 amg sounds so deep

Should’ve kept it without crossover and added some cherry bomb glasspacks and/or mufflers. Would’ve kept the character while making it more quiet.

My uncle has one. Canadian import bought in 1998. It sounds like one angry motherfucker 😂 Especially in a country where they charge you €2500 a year (just on tax) for driving a V8. Most people here drive 3 or 4-cylinder cars. Like a 1,2 or a 1,6l engine. If you go over 2.0 you have a ‘big engine’ We’ve always had 2,8 and 3.0l diesel (BMW 530 estate) But the Lexus is in a league of its own, it runs well, it drives smooth and goes like hell when pushed all the way. Lots of young fools in Ford Fiesta’s or Golfs have mistaken it for some old Japanese car 😂 It happens regularly that they’re like “ohh you got a spoiler? Wanna race” and they look and rev their tiny 1,5l engines 😂 Until the light turns green and that angry 4.0l gets kicked to 6000rpm and lets its 300 horses run freely! (Improved intake and exhaust. Won about 15hp) My uncle said like “I usually drive it gently” So I said “bcs of the fuel consumption?” “No the sound.” It IS loud when you go over 2500rpm

I had 2.5" true duals on my 91 LS, I wanted to do an H pipe but there wasnt enough room underneath. I'm not a fan of 2.25" exhausts, it just sounds too raspy for me
