Wow I was just looking at all 3 bulbs on eBay and thought to check if by chance anyone has made a video on the $14 bulb in particular. I already bought the red one in the middle but the round aluminium area won't allow the fog light assembly lid to close. The $14 junk bulb was intriguing because is missing that part. Luckily I saw this video before hitting the pay now button. Thank you and keep these videos going.
Thanks for the tips on these LEDs - it's good to know that the flanges can be rotated if need be. In my case the entire bulb base would be enclosed in a plastic fog housing, so I think I'm better off sticking to halogens for now. The heat buildup and rear clearance were already on my mind, and even without a temperature test I just don't trust these ephemeral xhinamazon monstrosities enough. I've used shoddy LED bayonet and festoon bulbs for years in other projects, I'll just wait a little longer for projectors...

Wow, you got a keen eye! One set is in the SERA and the other is in the Cappuccino. They work well & can't beat the price. I recommend to leave the heat sink portion open to the air for proper cooling.
Very detailed video, I like how you were straightforward without a bunch of BS. I'm in the market for some H3 LEDs for my 97 Expedition (Spyder projector headlights) and this certainly clarified things a lot. What do you think of these bulbs' real-world performance? Maybe another video in the works about it?
@@theevolvingworld Would you be up for doing another round of H3 LED bulbs? I've seen some that look like Auxbeam 3157s, but with a H3 base on them. Since the 3157s are quite good for their intended purpose,it would be interesting to see how the H3 re-based ones stack up. I was looking for H3 led to fit a old Pilot light not that I want it brighter but more to bring the eclectic down dune buggy VW alternator don't put out allot
I ordered a pair of the oslamps for my projector housing and they died the day after install while I was driving. I suggest buying ones with Fans. I got them off of eBay for a few dollars less and they work way better. They do not overhead like the ones without fans did.
Thanks for posting. That's good additional information. Question is, is it an isolated case or are they all defective. We'll watch this closely. If it's a widespread problem, then that will change this review.
@@theevolvingworld I would say they are defective. When I first installed the oslamps, they were very hot to touch. Would burn you like crazy if you help your finger on them. I am sure they just heat burnt out just like other LEDs. My fanned ones are going good tho and you can hold your finger on them.
Ninja here are the best ones for the price. I upgraded my truck and did a lot of research. CSP type LEDs are the way to go. I think these are some of the brightest in the market with a good beam pattern including a hot spot in a projector.www.ebay.com/itm/263864740606
I cannot find an LED H3 bulb (for a fog light) that will actually match my Halogen running lights. All of the H3 bulbs seem to be super either a bright 6000k or 3000k with a yellow coating. What I would like is a H3 3000k with no coatings but oddly no one seems to make them.
Maybe the general perception is LED bulbs should have a cooler 6000k color than a warmer 3000k halogen look. A yellow coating LED bulb doesn't sound too bad actually, on a vintage car. I might have to get a pair for that retro French Domestic Market car look. 😀
I would like to swap the H3's in my Hella foglights with LED's. Do I need a resistor in the circuit or any other considerations.? Thank you for the vid.
As long as your car is not using a CAN bus electrical system, or if they are aftermarket add-on fogs, then you will have no problems. If it's a CAN bus car, then you will mostly likely need to add additional bulbs / resisters (Heaters) or some kind of current to that branch of the circuit. Kinda defeats the purpose, unless you just like the look.
The hellas are installed externally and are wired directly from the battery so you do not need a resistor or canbus. It will be a direct fit. The OSLAMP is perfect for your hellas
Those lumen claims are out of control wish amazon would crack down on the dishonesty. But they don't care. I got one that said 2mil lumens but it was less luminous than a halogen bulb. Had to put my halogens back in.
The typical H3 bulb flange grounds onto the reflector/housing, which itself probably has a tab for a ground wire attachment. You should be able to simply attach the new bulb's ground wire to that existing ground wire.
