StevenSuptic can you tell me what happened to SuperPanicFrenzy?? I've been waiting forever to hear something about the channel. Any news on it would be super helpful
im a huge h3h3 fan but what's with the dislike? they didn't even shit on H3H3, and Massive respect to Bruce and James for properly criticizing Ethan without Insulting him. This is why i love Funhaus, they're not fooling around when there's a serious topic
greendayrocksmuch It's probably just the way Lawrence talks about H3H3 as if he's some sort of idiot. I know it's a joke that he's condescending, but he really really comes off as condescending whenever he talks about H3H3.
I didn't even notice it..he just told what happen and what Ethan should've done but other than that..he's calm. I would get alarmed if he like shouts HE'S A FUCKING IDIOT!! But ehh they all talked to it professionally
Jake Singer yeah...specially in the early days of rocket league. I though him and Bruce would get in a physical fight. I hated him in IG days but I think he really improved a lot in the past years but there's still that Lil arrogance I can't stand on him
Goddamnit I am at such an influential age and you guys keep talking about exercising and dieting being good! You guys are gonna rub off on me, you and your bad influences.
I love dude soup, always will, but man the war between youtubers and youtube and media outlets is getting so old. Too much drama to care anymore, but i'll still listen cause i love you guys.
Victorian Hipster I believe they could have been, Felix probably didn't because of the amount of stress, time, and money involved in a lawsuit. Wish WSJ would be put in their place, though.
WSJ can't be sued because the person who wrote the article isn't an employee, they're an independent contractor. News outlets have almost no actual employees so that any of their actions can't come back and hurt the company. They're all contracted out for independent contributions to the paper. Ethan doesn't have that safeguard that the WSJ has. He himself is the proprietor of the entity "H3H3 Productions" and therefore responsible financially for any lawsuits coming against that company.
Contracting parties are still liable for the actions of an independent contractor. There are no hold-harmless clauses that could protect a publication from an article they publish.
I'm currently an advertising major in a good journalism school, and the death of print media, and large media outlets such as the new york times, and the wsj, is discussed in every class. Print media has been waging war against TV, for years, and basically any medium that cuts into their profits. We must bear in mind, that the original main stream media was print, and later radio. Radio is not in danger to the same extent, though it still is, but readership of these large publications has massively decreased with the advent and rise of alternative media sources, like youtube. It stands to reason that the less content provided by youtube, because there's less money in it, would have a positive effect on their readership. It also stands to reason that the WSJ would benefit from the demise of youtube, and would be naive to assume that they would not at minimum do anything to stop this occuring. However, this same truth can be applied to youtube and it's creators, Ethan Klein also has a monetary stake in youtube, and the diminishing of print media would also generate more traffic towards his own platform. As such, in the era of spin, we must hold both the WSJ and RU-vidrs, to the same standard. Ethan has provided further evidence to be used to delegitimize youtube creators, and it was irresponsible and arrogant for him to have a knee jerk reaction like this, and release a video without giving it more thought. I'm not saying he didn't put a lot of thought into this video, I'm saying his own agenda is clouding his decision making just as WSJs did in their pewdiepie piece.
I can really respect that h3h3 owned up and removed the video. However, he still took part in shoddy detective work and jumped the gun for a quick scoop. That's exactly the kind of journalism he accused the WSJ of. I think both sides are fighting a proxy tug of war, and it's just looking bad for them all.
That isn't what WSJ are being accused of. They're being accused of removing context to try and destroy RU-vidr out of jealousy of the media that is RU-vid which is slowly dominating the market. Yes it was poor from Ethan, especially consider Keemstar would get destroyed for the same thing. However, that still isn't what WSJ are being accused of.
32:35 Bruce, did you ever watch that old tv show from 92-94 called "The Odyssey" about a boy in a coma? Well, to be blunt RU-vid is the boy, and the world that he perceives within his coma is all the youtube channels. You've all been living in a dream, and I think the series finale is soon to come.
Dude Soup is becoming this Meta RU-vid Podcast. RU-vidrs on RU-vid talking about RU-vid. Not that it's a bad thing, just must be a slow gaming news week...
Funhaus will be fucked if WSJ will do to them what they did to Pewdiepie. Also, the whole commercial on racist videos thing could be an issue for you guys.I know you are not racist, but WSJ doesn't care about context or the fact that you are just making jokes.
Barely. Plus Rooster teeth is much more of a business than anything Pewdiepie has ever done. Mainly because Rooster teeth actually is a business which will act like a business and Pewdiepie is a guy making videos with a huge following who will act like some guy making videos. Use critical thinking skills.
JeSSEbism I'm not sure that Maker studios was as involved in Pewdiepies content as Roosterteeth is in it's content...Pewds kind of just makes what he wants to. Also, to say Roosterteeth is simply a "compilation of RU-vid channels" is incorrect. They make a ton of original content and have been before RU-vid existed. In addition, they have their own site with paid sponsors- I doubt a vast majority of their revenue comes from RU-vid
JeSSEbism doesn't seem like you read my comment. I said I doubt a vast majority are only on RU-vid. I'm sure there's still a majority just not enough to bankrupt the company if all their RU-vid channels disappear
James really made me change my point of view on wrestling. As a European (Belgium), WWE wrestling seemed very stupid and fake but now that the guys explained it I understand why this is such a popular sport. Thank you James
Ehhh, id say: Lawrences legs have gone full hulk mode, Im sure Bruces legs are looking kinda small next to that of lawrences... Stunt school slow-mo vid, damn. Im sure hes hardly never skipped leg day :O
As someone that has always had a negative view on wrestling, walking the line of 'It is fake' (Not easy, I always understood there is athleticism there). The way James put it at the end using the analogy of the football teams working together to create the best football match ever, is the best explanation of wrestling I have ever heard. I am sold, where do I sign?
Adam you're absolutely right at 46:15 I followed you (and the others) when you guys left IG and I haven't watched IG since, even though FH started with low quality cameras, at a crowded table where Bruce had to stand awkwardly in the back because there weren't enough seats, and in a new office what seemed like every other week, I still enjoyed the videos because of the personality you all supplied.
It would be really awesome Funhause and H3H3 would collab in a podcast to talk about this subject, i think it would very interesting personally and i'm sure Ethan and Hila would be up for it
That is true but i just mentioned both of them because they both run their channel. but i agree Ethan would be enough since he does most of the talking anyways
Hey guys, just wanna say I'm a massive fan of the channel, you're my favorite RU-vid channel by far and away, and I watch nearly every bit of content you guys put out. Okay, now that I'm done kissing your buttholes, I just wanted to voice some minor criticism: as someone who looks forward to the Soup podcast every week, I'm really hoping that for you next podcast you could change it up and break away from RU-vid or social media as the topic of choice. Aside from the Zelda podcast, it feels like every podcast you guys have done for a WHILE now has focused on RU-vid or social media. I get it, I know RU-vid and Twitch and whatnot are incredibly important as that is the proprietary vessel to which content creators like you guys can share your content. But the last few weeks it seems like you guys have been focusing so much on the content CREATORS themselves, and not on the actual content itself. This has been a great year for games so far, and I feel like this podcast has spent barely any time talking about it. Oh well, I'm done bitching, I hope you guys just take this as the perspective of minor criticsm from a dedicarted fan, not someone trying to shit on what you do. I love what you guys do, and will continue to watch regardless. Thanks for doing what you do!
Here is a constructive comment: How to securely cement in a post: 1. Dig the post hole 2. Pour 6" of gravel or crushed stone into the bottom of the hole. 3. Set the post in the hole. 4. Fill her up with cement. 5. Expect results in 9 months.
Having a wholesome channel isn't going to save you through the bullshit that is going on with youtube right now. A few of the youtubers I watch that are very kid friendly are suffering now. I know GenerikB has had videos demonetized, Bdoubleo100 has talked about possibly having to go back to a normal job. Essentially at this point no youtuber is safe and it's sad because 90% of everything I watch is on youtube.
I remember Steven from a great Halo video of Adam vs. Steven. It was class. He is humble, funny and a great addition as a guest. I am sad to hear of RU-vid revenue declines, but I feel it is temporary as content creators will find a way to get to their audiences, and advertisers will find a way to pay those creators for product placement.
Y'all are a little naive to suggest that this is an issue confined to your RU-vid bubble. Corporate America is completely off its leash. Please vote in elections...
I like how the guys can appreciate the athleticism and realness to injury in pro wrestling. It might be predetermined, but it will fuck your body up. I went to wrestling school for like 2 days and took a back bump and said "Fuck this". It is not easy.
Oh god, more youtuber drama? I mean I like watching you guys talk about whatever but I really couldn't give a shit about random youtube drama featuring people I do not watch for a reason. New topics please!
NY Cheeseburger Believe me, the WSJ are TRAINED journalists. I mean how could someone take clips from videos out of context to push their own narrative without having completed a 3-4 year college course?
damn i feel bad, at first glance i thought the dude in the red shirt was lawrence, then another look and i thought he was a chick. now i see he's a dude. But why i wanted to comment was to ask if these guys are uploading less these days? it feels like i'm seeing less and less of these guys
Why is everyone ignoring the fact that the images the WSJ posted had the same exact number of views, likes, and dislikes. Its not %100 proof that they were faked but literally its like they copy pasted them and is a very good reason to discredit them.
Idk, I actually like a few of the Sourcefed folks. Not all of them are good, by any means, but SF had a group of good ones (Sam Bashor, Whitney Moore, Ava, etc).
Just because you didn't like sourcefed doesn't mean you have to automatically hate anyone from there. Steven is a pretty funny guy give him a chance before you hate on him.
I'm on Ethan's side. WSJ should be impeached, his video apologising still had some really interesting points that are still evidence to suggest malpractice on behalf of WSJ. Serious malpractice that has caused losses of billions of dollars.
